Have you had to fill out a Google reCAPTCHA lately? Use a VPN?
I recently went a round scrubbing my name off the web from disingenuous public databroker firms like mylife.com, infotracer, peoplefinder, whitepages, etc... In order to opt-out, I had to disable my VPN to get past Cloudflare full on blocking the opt-out forms at these soykaf sites. After circumventing my VPN protection, Google's reCAPTCHA bullsoykaf had me picking endless amounts of crosswalks, cars, and traffic lights to opt out of these public data brokers.
And it is bullsoykaf. All the reCAPTCHA did was help train their ML, and fingerprint my browser with my real IP. I had to scrub my name from the web, and used the same browser for this purpose, but my anonymity is shot. These public data broker assholes even had my political leanings down.
What's a lain to do? Wait around for a fully decentralized web? I still have to society, but going to stop using the web. What can we do to combat this Google / Cloudflare / public databroker fuarrrkery?

OP here, my screenshot tool is like kicking dead whales down the beach too. All sorts of tech problems! Here's the lain graphic I was trying to post.

There's not really a good solution here. The best thing I guess that we can do is refuse to fill out the captchas. That means giving up a lot of services.
Unfortunately, the opting out is necessary, and there's no good way to circumvent that...
Is true anonymity an impossible dream?

It pisses me off, too. Especially since some services are literally impossible to opt out of like whitepages; they just make it so only high paying accounts can see it (i.e. bounty hunters).
Also, if you're an Ameriburger, you might want to opt out of preapproved offers while you're at it
And freeze your credit with all four credit analysts

>some services are literally impossible to opt out of like whitepages;
you just have to create and verify an account, then edit and sanitize all options...

They keep a copy that is only accessible to business level accounts
>He said that people who ask for their information to be removed will no longer show up in search results on both the free and the paid “Premium” site, but that the record will remain available for its “Pro” business subscribers. (Companies that pay to access Whitepages Pro can use it to automatically verify information about customers, and prevent fraudulent sign-ups that use fake addresses or contact information.)

We should just refuse to fill the captcha, also, as you said, this is used for other purposes besides security. I assume it must help them train their artificial inteligence and also track people. This pisses me off.

You don't need to allow scripting for captcha. Infact if you don't you get a much better static captcha version where you select always only once.
For the other problems i think there's a simple solution that merely requires will: Collect the same data and use it to spoof with the most generic entries.

There is a scriptless google captcha.
