What does Lain think of Dtube? Ambitious as a project, it aims to be a decentralized alternative to YouTube that utilizes blockchain and steem. Is it going to be relevant within the next decade, or will it fade out into obscurity? Will it end up only used by people like us? https://about.d.tube/

Seems like a scam to get some easy bitcoins. P2P websites are a great idea though, but this doesn't seem to have it's roots in the sharing of content, but in the "stealing from your userbase" side of things.

It's probably not going last long

I don't know about D-tube but another one LBRY https://lbry.io/what that aims to be decentralized and community controlled. I used it to watch the Lunduke show and it's easy and fast to use http://lunduke.com/ It might be a good alternative to Youtube.

>>6922 I see no benefit in a blockchain solution, despite them saying steem is a "natural" choice. Surely caching an AIO web app would be simpler and less reliant on a mass market being assed to install new software.

There are already hundreds of these. Personally, the one I see as getting successful is PeerTube

d tube is for dorks who think blockchain is anything more than a waste of time and money and think the government is going to blow their brains out because they watched too many jbp videos

Dtube is just another cryptocurrency cashgrabbing scheme. It's unfortunate because before one gets to reading that shiny tidbit in their docs, it actually sounds fairly reasonable. PeerTube doesn't have the same kind of deresponsabilization of hosts.
