Out of all security related fields binary exploitation is the one that interested me the most but I feel like I'm way too dumb for it.
I keep trying out doing challenges on pwnables.(tw/kr/yxz/ecc..) but I always give up and end up looking at the online solution but doing so I never become better and if I don't look up the solution than I feel like I will be stuck forever.
I'd really like to be proficient in this type of stuff but I feel like I lack the mental capabilities. Anyone can relate?

Don't worry too much, Lain. I cannot conceive of a single human being who would be physically incapable of becoming competent in *any* field. It's all about how you learn.
If you're feeling completely lost, maybe you need to study the basics more, then get easy exercises, once you master them, get harder exercises. Knowledge is built like pyramid, you need strong foundations before you add a layer on top of it. Some people will learn faster than others, but there's no such thing as mentally incapable. Unless, you know, you're really mentally incapable in which case you wouldn't have the ability to post here anyway.

The challenge in question is 'calc' from pwnable.tw btw.
It is the third most easiest one on the website. It's not even about knowledge as it doesn't require any obscure understanding rather than observation and logic.

There are patterns in any field of knowledge, Lain.
If you give a new programmer a syntax reference and tell him to read the source of a super simple chatbot with 500 lines, all he requires is observation and logic. But this is obviously a stupid exercise for a beginner. He has to build all those structures of knowledge on the fly and on top of that make inferences based on that to reach a conclusion that would be trivial for a moderately experienced programmer, but exhaustive for a beginner.
Eat your vegetables; study your theory. Your problem isn't being mentally incapable, but physically uninterested.
