does anyone have lists of default passwords for various router models?
also, any good source of common passwords (other than default, obviously) for routers?

I didn't mean to wage slave for DDG, it's just my default search engine; the result of typing "default router passwords" in the url, as OP should have done before expecting some magical l33t answer.

i call all web search googling. i google on duckduckgo, startpage and all other alternatives. i've used google as a verb in a context of offline databases a few times.
either way, there is nothing wrong about using google for getting answers. i don't like google and don't trust it with my personal data, but that's my own personal preference. let's stop pretending someone's more for using tor and/or ddg.

ah no, i just meant sending links to web search result page. i prefer ddg, too. it's actually my default search engine in all browsers i use.
sage · 2018-12-23 22:27
though i've been thinking about making my own easily searchable database of default passwords and most used leaked passwords... so i might send a link when (if) i get to doing so...
(mainly because i've needed an offline reference before, because i was trying to log into my own (well, technically not mine, but my family router) router and i didn't have access to internet to just search for it, lol)
(at first i thought that might be the OP's case, then i realised they wouldn't be able to post here in the first place... *sigh* i need coffee)

IMO, if you don't want to explicitly recommend google, don't say google. You're just feeding into their marketing scheme as "the only option"

Lists do exist, try a search engine.

meh, everyone knows what i mean. are you also one of those people who points out xerox, jacuzzi, and kleenex are brand names?
>>6625
btw, kudos for image choice. love xkcd!

yes, although I didn't know jacuzzi was a brand name.

Some basic answers have been provided now. You may continue this discussion in the Simple Security Questions thread; you may create a better, more general thread for the more general topic of passwords or something or another; or you may use a different thread that already exists for this general topic.
