Cant sleep seeding
BloodCat · 2018-11-24 15:23
>Own a Seedbox
>Seedbox moves BIG amount of data
>I know that nobody would want to take the trouble even thinking about fining me
<still feel very uncomfortable with somebody being able to link it to me-->(my ip)
<Tor / i2p running all the time makes me suspicious to authorities
<both are fuarrrking slow
<both involve configuartion
>found this decentralised storage+crypto stuff called siacoin
>Can be paid anonymously (monero ---> siacoin)
>Files can be encrypted will also do it a 2nd time myself
>sia provides cmdline tool ---> scripting n stuff
>sia is fuarrrkIN CHEAP like 1$ for a bit of up/download and 1TB storage [scalabe
<not sure if sb is still able to link be and storage the peers storing for me ---> getting me when downloading again from peers
Sometimes I wish I could just seed and sleep just like everybody else. but its me

I feel the same. How do I know my ISP does not bust me? Has your paranoia provide you some good ideas, and if yes, do you mind sharing?

Siacoin is gone to soykaf. It was a good idea three years ago. Now it's just crap. I mean you'd think that you could mine it or at least buy it from a real exchange but the only place that will sell you sia is a fuarrrking scam.

Use a VPN

fuarrrk off VPN wage slave
VPNs are honeypots, they give everything to police, the only point of their existence is to provide money to VPN companies

oh no the police are gonna know that you share dvd movies on the internet

please don't use tor for torrenting
Acid Burn · 2018-12-27 13:23

What is the reason for that? Does it produce too much congestion on the Tor network or is it because Bittorrent software might leak your IP address?
Unnamed · 2018-12-27 14:36
>>6689
Well a mix of both actually.
The tor project themselves actually made a blog post about this a while ago. It's still relevant today imo.

it doesn't say that torrents on Tor are not possible
and you can avoid IP leak if you use Whonix virtual machine and torrent inside it
if you want to feel better you can donate 5$ per month to some Tor nodes (or host your own), instead of paying for honeypot VPN

you definitely can't torrent over Whonix. Tor doesn't support UDP, which is necessary for (a significant portion of) bittorrent, and it's the reason your IP gets leaked if you try. Whonix would just block UDP traffic.

UDPTunnel.

>UDPTunnel.
You realize that only works if the person you're connecting to is running udptunnel as well.

If you just want to unlink your IP from torrenting you can get a VPS and VPN to it (standalone VPN services seem bad for seeding since they don't generally let you open ports, right?). Then it would take law enforcement resources to trace back to you, and as you identified they're not interested.

wrong. you can.
>Tor doesn't support UDP, which is necessary for (a significant portion of) bittorrent
you don't need that portion. torrents also work with only TCP
UDP is not necessary for torrenting
Frank Garza · 2019-01-27 23:35

>UDP is not necessary for torrenting
it's necessary when most other people and trackers are using UDP-only transports, which is indeed the case. Have you not even been reading the thread?

Maybe getting more people on board with I2P torrenting? The biggest selling point to normal people is that you don't have to pay for VPNs to torrent when I2P offers the necessary anonymity free of charge. The only downside of I2P is its low speed but people can just leave their computer on overnight right?

This, but I don't think you understand just how slow it is. I sometimes get speeds of 820B/s to a peer when the connection holds. Most people mind having to leave their computer on for an entire month for a single 5GB torrent.
Tribler might be worth a look, it uses its own tor-like network and is built specifically for torrenting. There doesn't seem to be a way to run it headless through, which is a big negative in my book.

It's also written in python2, which is suboptimal to say the least
