Someone I know picked up an RFID scanner online. We've considered a few ways to use it but would rather not self-incriminate, but I'm wondering what Lain would do with one of these.

if it means you can c.l.o.n.e. a working one without an imprint of the original one being the one from which was created, I may or may not work at Microsoft

>>5984 Well you also may or may not know what you're talking about, but congrats on working for Microsoykaf. It depends if the card reader is low freq, high freq, or both. Also make note card reader does not always mean it can r/w. If it is >pic related It's probably for the T55xx, HID Prox, etc. cards that operate at LF 125KHz (vs UHF @ 13.56MHz). If you're trying to clone AND write iClass SE (UHF), best of luck to you, you won't be able to. Now for what you CAN do? It's really up to you. Depending on the reader you might be able to read from 6" to 24" (24 on a very good day). Go nuts. Just understand that BIBO systems exist and some building security and badge sec systems keep track of badge-ins and badge-outs and will alert if there's an anomaly from someone using two cards.

>>5986 and by both I mean basically the proxmark can read lf and hf but it's not got a lot of distance to read. Basically you need to be up on someone.

Depending what type of standard the chip of reader supports you could go to such lengths as to make an external directional anthenna with an amplifier and walk around in crowded areas and pick up a lot of credit cards which you could use for some low cost payments IRL. Going through datasheets and reading up on wikipedia isn't really that hard, but grabbing a book and learning about anthennas and amplifiers might be a big harder if you have no footing in there. Still, a breeze in this new informational age we live in. Good luck anon, hope you come back with results and post them here.
