Botnet development general

Lain Iwakura · 2025-02-04 09:30
I've looked through the catalog and there is no botnet development thread. Yes, I know there is a malware development general, but that is kinda unrelated topic. I mean - malware and botnets are two very different things, even though sometimes botnets can be creted with the use of malware. But I want this therad to focus specifically on the technical aspects of building the botnet infrasctructure. This thread is not exactly supposed to be about how to create a botnet by spreading malware (even though you can share your experience with that as well... if it's even allowed here, I'm not sure), but more about the network topology, various protocols, network sockets, packets and data structures required to run the botnet network smoothly. Basicaly I'm looking for an advice on the networking details that assure the botnet runs as it should. My idea is that everybody gives their own tips based on their experience and explains why he thinks that is the best way to do it. I am relatively new to this topic, so I can't really give much advice regarding this stuff, I was actually hoping to recieve advice from others. I am genuinelly interested in this topic and I am willing to learn. Are you willing to teach? It's not like this kind of stuff is a secret knowledge or something, right? But of course I've done my own research a little bit before posting this thread. I found an open-source post-exploitation framework called BYOB and it looks kinda promising. Thoughts?(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf.)

peer-to-peer/hybrid, fast-flux, asymmetric encryption (to verify these are your commands over the network), reverse proxies, etc. I'm still a fledgling in this area too. see you on the other side?

Do you really think people will write long replies here helping you out if you don't respect the basic rules of the community? You should at least put some work into your OP if you decide to kick an old one from the catalog on such a slow board. And no, just noting the name of the first github repo you find when you do a 10s google search is not "doing your research". The maldev general has quite a bit of discussion on botnets already, quite likely more than what will ever be seen in this thread. Why don't you read that, ask questions after you thought about it and share your code when you try some things yourself as others do there?

>>25804 >>25806 Why should I not be allowed to vent when I'm pissed at low effort threads made by people who don't even want to read? It affects the quality of the board I would like to use, so why should I quietly comply if I could also tell OP to think first next time?

>>25804 Not that Lainon but I agree with >>25794 How are we expected to contribute to your thread if you yourself can't? You even got a warning from the mods. What have you tried so far? What programming lang did you write it in? What features are you trying to program into this bot? What protocols are you implementing? What made you want to even build a botnet in the first place? >"I was actually hoping to recieve advice from others." I don't know what advice to give since you didn't provide what you already know. >"I am genuinelly interested in this topic and I am willing to learn." If you are genuinely interested, research more and come back and contribute more to this thread. >"But of course I've done my own research a little bit before posting this thread." It sounds like you only made this statement in order to get out of being critiqued by your low quality OP. >"Are you willing to teach?" No. But here's some simple advice: >Learn system programming (Win32/POSIX). >Learn simple TCP Socket Programming. >Learn the difference between Server and Client. >Learn how to encrypt the connection between client and server.

>>25791 making a botnet is usually done with RATs, you can try remcos, asyncrat, xenorat & many others to get a feel. regarding networking, you'd probably need to play around with the open source RATs to configure it to do what you want to achieve.

>>25794 Are you a moderator? No? Then stop telling other people what to do. The only thing worse than a redundant thred is some pompous ass bitching and whining about it.(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST ,Do not whine and cry about 8chan, lainchan.jp, "quality", "invasions", "newfags", mods, bans, or kalyx outside of /q/.)
