I likely have a job opportunity to do PCI assessments. I was curious if it's one of the decent sec jobs or if it's more boring like compliance checks. Obviously I know there's gonna be a lot of paperwork involved, but is it likely I'll get to do somewhat interesting hands on stuff and maybe give suggestions for remediation once I have some experience? Or Is it more of just check the box thing?
For more info, my background is mostly in networking, but I know a little bit of everything. I've never had a security related job and haven't been terribly interested in security myself in recent years, but this opportunity came up.
