I am not sure where might be the appropriate board to tell it, but I have in mind building a rack with servers as well as founding my own LLC of web hosting and dedicated VPS offers, among others, with a big emphasis in security and transparency (most options shall include Gentoo Hardened, FreeBSD, OpenBSD VPS, free SSL certificate, and maybe the option for pay with crypto). I am still not sure if it could worth it or just be a waste of money and resources based on how big is the competence right there. What Lainons think on this possible project emerging? P.S. Pic related isn't mine but I needed one to open this thread.

>>23818 I know there is at least one forum for small-scale VPS services, matching up hobbyist website managers with slightly-less-hobbyist VPS managers. This could be useful for you to peruse. Would post the url but apparently is isn't in my notes. Find it yourself I guess.

>>23818 if you're in America you're just asking to be caught up in some legal issues

>>23825 I am European (I don't want to specific more) but register an American LLC is a nice idea for a lot of motives.

>>23818 Have you researched how much it will cost to run and which margin you need to recover your investment? Some providers allow users to install using their own iso files, but if you can offer similar prices with easier installation it would be able to compete. Also, consider allowing payment by mailing bills, for people that want to pay anonymously but do not want to use crypto.

>>23830 paysafecard, anyone can get it at gas station and pay without giving credentials. Honestly dont know why not more use it. Even gacha games offer it while regular biz dont.

>>23837 Wow this is pretty cool. Even in Canada there are so many places that offer it There is definitely a niche for anonymized buyers but known sellers, and this would be pretty cool if the service fees isnt too bad

>>24169 GNU Thaler I think aims at that too but I don't know how far they are.

>>23818 If you ever get this up and running, I'll happily pay for some serverspace.

>>23825 Was about to say this, I'm pretty sure there are a few servers where people mentioned the risks that your customers are just looking for a CP repository, which would conveniently be in your house. >>23826 Being a non-american this also carries significant risks, like US laws applying to you.
Agent Smith · 2024-06-26 16:43
Do you really need an LLC if you arent American? If under an LLC wouldnt that place you under the thumb of US law? >>24314 >GNU Thaler That must be a typo. GNU Taler
Spike Spiegel · 2024-06-27 00:56
>>23825 >>24320 I'm so sick of people just accepting this as fact. It's not fair that the US gets to hide behind CP laws as an excuse to take down anything they don't like. Fight back. Use Njalla for your VPS provider and pay with XMR
Shogun · 2024-06-27 01:14
>>24322 Hiding behind encryption isn't actually fighting back, it's admitting defeat and submitting to lifestylism. Not that I'm saying not to do such things just they change nothing to change laws designed to be abused as much as possible and encryption won't always be an option. People don't even realize how bad US laws really are in general and how much the US polices the world.
