Clouflare flyaway

Drifter · 2024-04-08 02:53
I noticed a lot of pages flying away from Cloudflare and I can't found a reason, this is of course, something good, but I don't know the why... Somebody knows ? Laugh at me , but I found this change in adult sites like rule34 and so on * cough * furaffinity * cough *

despite it being an absolute quintessence of spyware, it is probably because website developers realize that it does not only defend your site from bots, but also defends it from users that are a little more smart than average social media user, which are vpn and tor users. i personally didn't notice the tendency of people leaving cloudflare, and probably you just visit the sites whose devs were nagged with begging to disable this dogshit of "content delivery service".

>>23803 as it turns out cloudflare block is like an IQ challenge in reverse, you filter out the people that aren't dumb.

Is anything being done about Cloudflare? It's starting to kill off CLI browsers such as lynx/links, or basic WGET for that matter. I for example wrote my own "distraction free" reader for blogs and articles and even some of these are behind cloudflare. Good luck fetching HTTP from an HTTP server, I guess? What are some good ways to fight back? Browser extensions which redirect to cloudflare-free alternatives?

>>23807 block cloudflare with iptables. their ip addresses are publicly listed so it's pretty easy but if you don't know how then here's something to spoonfeed you. https://digdeeper.club/articles/websites.xhtml#cloudflare aside blocking cloudflare, and refusing to give them data they can sell theres nothing you can do. website hosts need to not use it, they should be not using it because of the fact it's a surveillance network, and not because people will refuse to use their site.

OP here. I think this could have something with the Florida recent changes in porn sites and children, and CF is a pain for VPN or TOR. I don't have a CF account anymore, but I remember an option for block TOR. CF could block adult sites which not follow the law... Some of them are changing of state right now.

>>23808 >theres nothing you can do I sure hope not. >website hosts need to not use it I agree. >because of the fact it's a surveillance network, and not because people will refuse to use their site And I understand your principle. But do see my post again (the post you're replying to >>23807) It was inconvenience that caused me to find this thread and ask "Is anything being done about Cloudflare". Inconvenience and ca$h-money are two basic motivators in human nature lol. Also principles, Cloudflare makes money by breaking the fundamental networking model of the web - you can no longer WGET a webpage. Let me repeat that - you can no longer WGET a webpage! Some would argue other facts have the same effect but so far cloudflare is the biggest. --- For example I tried to WGET https://somehost.com/blog/some-topic-about-sqlite and got HTTP 403. My reader doesn't work with this webpage, and when I try to open it in a web browser I am faced with captcha, "Are you a human?" it asks. I suppose visitors from US/UK/EU aren't shown this screen, the system recognizes their humanity, right? Despite all of this the webpage on "somehost.com" does in fact serve ads to everyone, and makes money off these ads. So my question is - what if it weren't making money off these ads, because a large percent of visitors - human or not - used a browser extension which when the page is served from the cloudflare IP range took the page <meta> tags and redirected them to (any) search engine with the "-site:somehost.com" query to look for alternative sources of this information? Would this be beneficial?

>>23804 >as it turns out cloudflare block is like an IQ challenge in reverse, you filter out the people that aren't dumb. Dunning-Kruger effect in action, everybody. Using a VPN does not make you "smart", in fact it probably makes you dumber than those people who are using social media. Being able to secure a proxy that won't be blocked by Cloudflare is what makes one "smart"
