There is a small problem that worries me. Tor v2 stopped working. How did it get “canceled” in the first place? Well, there are literally 0 servers online(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf.)

You may recall seeing facebook's v2 onion address which was actually quite nearly just a string that they chose. I think its fair to say it was getting dangerously close to the point where glowniggers could just bruteforce the keys to anyones v2 address. On top of that it had the easily indexed problem, which is either a problem or a virtue depending how you see it. Basically if you had a V2 address active people could detect it and visit it, so it was impossible to have a private site for just you and your friends.

>>23422 >How did it get “canceled” in the first place? It was removed from the code and eventually everyone updated to a version of Tor which didn't have v2 support.

>>23422 it's deprecated since october 2021 i believe, and the support for onion v2 domains isn't there for the 2 and a half years. everyone moved on. and you should, too.

>>23422 Tor Foundation controls the health of the net. You can't keep using v2 even if you want, they kick out the relay which not have a certain tor version or make things in their own. This is of course a good thing.
