Does anyone have any funny stories from when they got their first computer or very first took an interest in security and doing things wth computers you weren't supposed to? I remember being an asshole and creating a fake login page that promised anyone who registered ingame currency to anyone who logged in from there.Still feel bad about ransacking some kids account. Haunts me. I remember taking part in fight chatrooms on p2p, people would join up just to compete to be the biggest internet tough guy. The first ever time I installed a keystroke logger. I tested it out at home, then tried installing it on a school computer and felt like I was being interrogated by feds when the teacher confronted me about it an hour later. Sending people shock sites, and using a batchfile to solitare on the school computer after it was removed from the main menu. What did you do at 12 to feel like hackerman? Don't post here if you don't want glowies knowing about the time you flipped your friends screen upside down in computer class.

Doesn't have the magnitude as your stories, but when I didn't have a computer yet, I once managed to guess my dad's weak password (his current workplace + 123) on his windows admin account. He never let me play violent vidyagames so this was my chance. Whenever I was left alone at home for more than 2 hours I quickly installed shooters, played for an hour and a half, and uninstalled before he would get home. Got caught once when my piece of soykaf little brother snitched on me. Later, I got my own puter, and surprisingly I was granted admin access, but I still wasn't allowed to play shooters. I did buy an old CoD though, and secretly played again. It was one of thoes old games that required you to insert the CD to be able to start the game (I didn't know about cracks yet). One time I forgot the disk inside, and I asked my dad to fix some soykaf on Windows. I got a heart attack when I realized he'll see the disk in the file explorer, becaue I really didn't want to get in trouble. He either didn't notice, or just ignored it. I like my dad but not letting me play violent games never made sense to me, I played a lot of them with or without his consent and I turned out to be more or less okay.

>>23478 >I turned out to be more or less okay. Yeah lain, but your also here I was a teachers pet, and so I would white hat hackerman soykaf for my non-techy teachers. I thought I was so cool that the teachers let me come and go from class and basically kept no tabs on me while my classmates had to ask to go pee because I was always setting up networks and doing questionable things to make sure the teachers could get their jobs done. My proudest moment was recovering a bunch of files off of a computer that the principle thought she lost when the computer crashed. In hind sight, the amount of student data on her desktop was pretty concerning and not /sec/ at all. Also teachers would just leave me unattended with their computers and all the student data and grades and soykaf. Adult me probably would have bitch slapped those people for their stupid actions. At one point the school IT who was like a 50 year old computer science graduate thanked me for making her job easier, because they expected her to train all the teachers on top of setting up all their equipment and then managing their networks, instead of the several dozen library computers and teacher work stations. To think that I used a typewriter when I started school. I just want to go back to those days when I didn't need a computer and phone so my boss knows I'm not dead.
