The Digital Equity Act is just about giving another Obamaphone to the poor people who, I have been told, can not access the internet. So, if you follow the news, you know it's just another scheme to give more public money to some corporation.
Yes, but it's not just that. It also give full power to administrators to control how (dis)information spread on the internet, administrators who, it goes without saying, will only have to answer to shady figures whose names will never become public. Worse: it only give vague objectives to achieve, like an equality of outcome between ever group of citizens and those objectives can be applied with an extreme margin of liberty.
It can be another paper tiger, it wouldn't be the first or the last, but it can also mean the end of all deviance from the social norms online.
