I'll be (hopefully) finishing my degree in software engineering this year, and that means I'll have to make an undergradute thesis project to finish off my studies.
I could pick up some soykaf developing project offered by my college that wouldn't take much effort and just get done with it, but since I expect to be pretty much free to focus on it I'd prefer to pick something I'd enjoy researching and doing and that I could actually learn from.
Sec is a topic I've always been attracted to, but sadly my college curriculum doesn't really do much of anything related to it, so the little experience and knowledge I have on it has been pretty much selftaught.
I'd like to take this as an opportunity to get some more experience and learn, but I need a topic/title for the project and I have no idea what could be an interesting but closed enough topic to be used as a project.
So basically I'm asking you to do my homework and come up with ideas. Or at least some pointers and reads or whatever that could give me some inspiration if you know of something interesting.

How about covering the topic of disinterested losers who have no imagination or skill clogging up the field and being a major reason why security is like kicking dead whales down the beach so bad from a software engineering perspective? What I'm saying here is just write about yourself.

Degrees like that are waste of time. (I have a postgraduate degree). Id say to just put bare minimum effort into it and avoid stressing; dont burden yourself with more constraints or let academic skew your direction of research, just get through the toxic academic environment and escape it. Its sad that you wasted so much time and money on it, but hopefully you can afford to spend some time after you graduate to learn things that are actually useful and interesting to you.

This guy's experience isn't universal. I have a doctorate and my academic experience had 0 politics and I got to basically research whatever I felt like with no barriers.
I also didn't spend any money on my degree (other than lost wages from not going straight to industry), so mileage may vary.
