Howdy lainons, possibly the wrong board but anyway, got any ideas about planting routers in public places to access as a proxy? Many networks nearby can be easily bruteforced, but I've no knowledge of planting my own, I'm so new to that, and I like free internet, so y'all got good sauce for such thing?

yea, sounds like an ok-ish idea for someone who is only beginning but eventually you would want to hack and use the boxes you hacked as a sort of VPN, instead of leaving traces of hardware everywhere I played with your idea for some time and there are multiple way, some are more involved and some are easier. The easiest would be a raspberry Pi, the second easiest would be to install Openwrt or DDwrt on a compatible router and installing VPN on that router in a bridge mode and hardest (which with what I played with most) is rewritting the firmware on those wifi repeaters so you could use it as a standalone server.... which didn't pan out so well but yea, highly suggest the openwrt router method, its cheap and somewhat easy, you would need to tinker with it a bit to get it to work but it's aight

hypothetical: bathroom location. put a raspberry pi in the ceiling and find a way to supply it power from wires in the ceiling. connect it to the wifi there.

Why not use your neighbors wifi with Tor or Lokinet and a ever-changing and random proxychain at the end? Seems more sensible to me than putting costly electronics in some locker or bathroom and hope they aren't found. The connection will be soykaf too, don't bother lain. If you just want free internetz, why not spoof your mac address and connect with a long-range wifi usb device (look on alfa.com.tw, they are good, I have one myself, it works great for stealing internet from my neighbors. It works out of the box on Linux and OpenBSD too if you mind that)
