Lain, where i can buy good anonymous VPS?
Nanashi No Gombe · 2023-06-27 07:20
most likely in the next life. there are some VPSes which offer crypto payment but they're very expensive, like twice or thrice.

I know that1984.hosting accepts monero. You can use a simplelogin alias and access the site/ssh into the vps via Tor to obfuscate your connections to them.
Njal.la also provides servers for monero but they're pretty pricy. Shinjiru accepts BTC, you could buy XMR and then convert to BTC.

cryptostorm.is
'The VPN service provider for the truly paranoid' Or so they claim. They got coin options

Capsul is a small VPS provider run by lain fans. There is a big upcharge compared to normal hosts, but they accept crypto on their own BTCpay server. https://capsul.org/

portal.incognet.io works fine and is run by a small team

(and they accept monero with their own hosted payment processor. If a business doesnt do this, dont use them)
another one is cockbox.org

that is the price of non-kyc
sporestack is cool. they let you make payments in crypto and manage the instances via api. you could have a different server every day, automatically provisioned. i believe they are digital ocean and so the network speed is quite good
1984.is is okay to but they are in Iceland and so depending on where you are there can be latency issues
Nameless · 2023-07-08 15:10
https://kycnot.me/services the vps section has a solid selection
Delilah · 2023-07-10 04:37
Also look into privex.io similar to incognet (also good) and they accept xmr for payments.
Sabo Engle · 2023-08-01 11:15
njalla is good but pretty expensive

racknerd offers crypto payments. ive been using them for 2 year now for a small burner vps. been fine.
also consider checking out lowendbox and lowendtalk for more options

A related question - what's the best country to look for a VPS in if you want privacy? Should you go with neutral countries like Switzerland or Sweden or doesn't it make any difference?

Any country where 5 eyes doesn't have jurisdiction is a safe bet for me
So, EU/NATO/Schengen/US/Canda/Australia/NZ is off the table, most allies to UN is off the table, which leaves a little to be honest

Sweden is part of the 14 eyes if that means anything to you.
There isn't really much options for very under-the-radar countries that put you at notable risk of having to deal with poor service, bandwidth/speed, customer support, or even getting ripped off/scammed.
Putting that aside though, I think asking for a specific country is the wrong approach. At the end of the day, any server provider would be able to access your server and the contents if they want to or are ordered to by authorities. So-called "bullet proof hosting" solutions inevitably get their doors kicked in when they look the other way for too long. This kind of thing will happen eventually regardless of what country your server is in. If bad guys really wanna find you, they're gonna find you. Operate on that inevitability.
Honestly just go with something that's relatively known and has built up a good reputation for respecting user privacy and freedoms and providing reliable service like 1984, njalla, shinjiru, cockbox or something similar. What good is a private server if your ssh connection gets timed out half the time, you know? Being able to pay in XMR or bitcoin is a plus too.

Racknerd accepts crypto at a reasonable price. I have 2 VMs from them currently, paid for in crypto.
