Context:
>You need a phone number and a debit/credit card to function in modern society
>Android 11 shutdown builtin SIP/VoIP support
>VoLTE/WiFi are carrier-specific, proprietary implementations of VoIP without ROM support, so the 3G shutdown shutdown their calling
>Signal is shutting down SMS support
>*gestures broadly at the financial system*
I'm trying to put together a new system where I buy prepaid debit cards with cash, and then use those to buy VoIP services and prepaid data SIM cards. Are there any flaws to this approach other than inconvenience? I can only see upsides like:
>saving money
>vanity and burner numbers
>nonconsumer features like call direction and hold music
I bet many lains already do this. Can we put together a list of recommendations for the components of said system?
>prepaid debit cards
>prepaid data SIMs
>VoIP providers supporting SMS
