So I was just on Matrix and I realized that is is pretty boring. I used to use Telegram in 2020, but then a bunch of people from the Telegram groups I was in got arrested, so I got spooked and deleted Telegram. Hell I even used Privazer to get rid of it.
Since then I haven't really used any messaging app like that, except Matrix once in a while but I find it kind of empty, like almost no one uses it.
So I decided to download Telegram again, just to see what's going on. And then I found out that nowadays, to sign up for Telegram on desktop, you have to download it on your phone first. And that seems really suspicious to me. Because I remember that in 2020 you didn't have to download it on your phone first, you just needed your phone number. And then I just used an online temporary phone number.
So that got me thinking why would they make that change? This way it just seems like much easier to catch people for the feds.
Then I thought out of all of the messaging apps I know, so that I can maybe find some good alternatives to Telegram. Like I said Telegram is unsafe it seems like, Matrix well it is too slow, Discord is just well Discord, I don't think I have to explain why I wouldn't want to use discord lol. So what other apps are out there? I know of Wickr, but then I remember feds arrested a drug dealer from there, so it is not safe either. Then I remembered about Tox, specificaly Qtox because I still have it on my computer. And Qtox seems pretty safe although it is not like a group messaging app like Telegram, it is more like 1 on 1 messaging app.
So my question is what other group messaging apps are out there?
