https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/10/07/national-security-memorandum-on-partial-revocation-of-presidential-policy-directive-28/ https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/the-press-office/2014/01/17/presidential-policy-directive-signals-intelligence-activities https://www.businessinsider.com/dataminr-twitter-white-house-contract-surveillance-2022-10?r=US&IR=T I think it is time we started putting the US government into more mainstream cybersecurity threat models. "The Executive Order of October 7, 2022 (Enhancing Safeguards for United States Signals Intelligence Activities), establishes enhanced safeguards for United States signals intelligence activities that supersede the safeguards for personal information collected through signals intelligence established by Presidential Policy Directive 28 of January 17, 2014 (Signals Intelligence Activities) (PPD-28)." - Essentially stating that your rights mean nothing to them. The US government has essentially just opened the flood gates that much wider for infringements on the rights of their citizens. Even if this does not actually alter the behind-the-scenes activity that the government has undoubtedly been partaking in, it will still allow them to more openly call forth the data collected from these clandestine activities for more mainstream purposes, and before you say that they would be sued for this: "This memorandum is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person." There is too much to cover in just one post, and I highly recommend you read the links, but the TLDR is that the US government has just shaken off the vast majority of the restrictions it had on SIGINT.

>>20357 >Somehow it's hard for me to imagine Joe's administration respecting the private rights of the citizens. I don't know why. hard to imagine *any* administration respecting the private rights of the citizens. I mean, this is a country where women can be forced into carrying a child to term. No surprise they'd also be interested in setting up an orwellian police state where your entertainment box literally watches you.

>>20386 In Florida we recently had two kids start shooting at cops because they didn't want to go back to their foster home. Clearly evident of a functional foster care system.

>>20384 >>21000 This. All of this evangelism really has no place with abortion. Nobody thinks it's the optimal solution, but it's the best one most people have. That, or suffering. That makes it a sociological problem, not a moral one. Comments like >>21017 lack nuance and empathy. Remember that this is happening everywhere for a reason, and, no, not because everyone lacks the morality you claim to have.
