[APPLE] Ipad/IPhone IOS Activation Lock Bypass

Also iOS hacking/exploitation/jailbreak General. Share your thoughts and stories. I'll start with my question about bypassing Activation Lock on my IPad 2 model A1396: >What is Activation Lock? An apple account can set an Activation Lock, which (in theory) prevents a thief from being able to activate the device and use it without logging into the Apple Account. Android has something similar too. Pretty modern feature. When you Google, there are actually a bunch of different blogs, guides, and videos for how to easily bypass Activation Lock. Most of them want money. It's all pretty sketchy, but sounds like bypassing Activation Lock isn't impossible. >How does Activation Lock work? Before the device allows you to use it at all, you need to connect to the internet via a WiFi network. Then, you have to put in your Apple ID that you linked with the device. >What have I tried to do to bypass Activation Lock? For the record, I didn't steal the device. This is a case of a rightful break-in. I asked on Reddit about how to bypass Activation Lock, but they said it was impossible. I tried to reset using ITunes and it didn't work because the activation lock is still there. I also tried injecting some escape characters and request code into the DNS and user ID fields. It got Safari working but it isn't enough. >What attack vectors have I discovered? The WiFi Settings field is vulnerable to code injection. So is the password and username fields. That's all I have besides motherboard hacks that I don't have the hardware for. Besides that, there are tools online which claim to do it. Any help is greatly appreciated. And if any of you need help jailbreaking, you can always go to r/jailbreak where they have all the relevant info in the META/FAQ thread. Also, for the record the device is not stolen, and I do prefer Android. Reddit is like kicking dead whales down the beach since they changed owners. The other chan isn't helpful at all for things like this. Bypassing activation lock counts as hacking! The thread belongs here.

>>19340 >What is the current progress of my Ipad 2 Activation Lock Bypass Lab I took a break for a little while after getting frustrated with this expensive paperweight. I think before I finished I got the iOS version. I must have lost it :( -- maybe I recorded the iOS version somewhere on one of my other computers. Something tells me the iOS version matters. I mean, if we're talking about exploitation, version always matters. Anyway, ITunes can probably be used to find iOS version. I think I found out my iOS version like that last time. The other way to guess the iOS version is to check what is the newest one available for that model of device. The latter method is considered less reliable as this IPad has been sitting for a while and is probably not fully updated. I will post my iOS version on this thread very soon. ON A DIFFERENT SUBJECT, JAILBREAKING IS COOL!!! >Why would you jailbreak your device Personally I like jailbreaking in order to block ads, hack apps, and run pirated content like Cercube. Cercube is kind of like YouTube Vanced for iOS. Also RIP Vanced :( >What is my preferred jailbreak method I have only ever run checkra1n which is tethered (need to connect to computer each time it turns off). Thus, I'm a noob and unworthy to speak. Checkra1n (https://checkra.in/) is considered effective but highly inconvenient because not only is it tethered but it can't be done on Windows. You need Mac or Linux. But once you have Checkra1n, you just use it to install Cydia, as it has Cydia bundled right in. Then, you're golden to start installing whatever you want.
