Countering the Google threat

Turner · 2022-04-23 02:24
>>19189 I don't exactly know how google analytics work, but possibly you could write a greasemonkey/tampermonkey script that generates random data and puts it where real data should be picked up?
par22 · 2022-04-23 09:00
Google is an enemy of privacy. How can fight back? How do we send nonsense data to Google so that the data it collects is useless or misleading? For example, instead of blocking Google Analytics, why not send it incorrect data on a large scale? Then, they won't be able to distinguish between real and fake data. It's time to employ counterintelligence tactics against Google surveillance.

This is literally AdNauseam: https://github.com/dhowe/AdNauseam See also the books and links at https://adnauseam.io/ , for more similar tech.
Acid Burn · 2022-04-24 00:12
>>19189 >>19190 That won't do. most bigtech sites have some form of fingerprint detection so they will know your (possibly unidentified) profiles and associate it with certain browser-fingerprints. most mainstream social media and websites have some form of fingerprint and anti-fraud systems that "justify" the tracking they do as a form of "debugging" or for "legal notice". The thing is feeding garbage will amount to nothing. What you need to do is create alternative platforms both in the web service up to the hardware and operating system side (which is the device and the OS). This is what the big tech companies et. al. hate the most so they try to hire these pioneers as early as possible then make them sign a contract that will stop them from working on any form of side project (or if they do they get patented by the company they are in - free of charge). It's also a means shutting them up/down by hiring individuals or pioneers who can make tools that would make big tech lose millions in profit a year, they can just hire the same developer and pay them a six-figure or less a year. Are you working on a new streaming site? A new search engine? A new browser? An alternative operating system or device? Something that unlocks devices or reduces ads or some soykafs? Good luck and you will either be targeted or targeted for hiring. That's not even the root of the problem, most independent ISPs around the world are partnered with these known "big tech" companies (which I will not name) so your whois queries spits up a local company/info but you have no way of knowing whether they are partnered, owned or controlled by a big tech company and I know one which is covertly owned by them. Thre are plenty of those out there, who knows maybe that cafe at the other side of the street is already owned by them, that's what happens with internet hosts and ISPs, heck even IXPs and other backbone infrastructure, they all would get eaten up like systemd engulfing the entire gnu/linux ecosystem.

>>19189 >How can fight back? I havent used google (cia™) intentionally in years. meh.
Vasya Pupkin · 2022-04-30 23:13
>>19189 Let me start by saying I agree with your premise. Google is indeed a spyware supergiant and needs to be fought. We also know they are an advertising company so they get money for your data. >send them a bunch of bullshit data Ad Nauseum works very well, and it was mentioned in this thread. But ad nauseum doesnt have the best blockliwts, and it doesnt work if you use some other way to block ads eg PiHole or another extension. Your best bet is just to block ads. Especially on JewTube. It gets the job done. >browser fingerprinting If you can defeat browser fingerprinting techniques, either by hiding or spoofing identifiers, then that hurts Google without causing you serious inconvenience (hopefully). >DeGoogling Getting Google out of your Android's firmware is a huge step in taking away the massive power Google has over you. Just DeGoogle. If you must use a playstore app, use Aurora. Also if you must use Chromium, use it degoogled. Sending waves of fake info costs too many resources. There are better ways.
par22 · 2022-05-24 00:26
>>19197 Doesn't that increase Google's profits? I think Google makes money every time someone clicks on an ad.
Apoc · 2022-05-24 00:56
All of the advice in the thread, but also NoScript and just don't use any Google-based services if you can avoid it. No, not even their DNS servers.

Eric Schmidt, the former Google chairman, told Reuters in a recent interview that high-end processors should have kill-switches. “Knowing where the chips go is probably a very good thing. You could for example, on every chip put in essentially a public private key pair, which authenticates it and allows it to work”. hxxps://www.reuters.com/technology/chip-challenge-keeping-western-semiconductors-out-russian-weapons-2022-04-01/ What he won’t tell is that this is already a reality, as I learned after having my air-gapped system and Pixel phone wiped remotely for researching “silent speech interfaces”, which goes against Google's interest for the public to know about. There is no security when silicon trojans are inside of every CPU. Google is willing to "kill". Are you? If not, consider being, or you won't be.
Technician · 2022-05-26 07:28
What is the point of the AdNauseam browser extension? AdNauseam helps Google by giving it more money to oppress more people.
Demeere · 2022-05-26 07:47
>>19376 It's supposed to make the analytics info worthless by making the browser "click" on each ad (instead of the user clicking just on the ones that interest him)

This to be honest Google is an evil corporation

I would like to have some kind of script I could keep running at home that makes random google and youboob searches with random useragents and clicks on everything it finds and just keep it running continuously.

>>19360 You are a schizophrenic and all of the things you accuse these things of are easily reproducible and observable. There is no information emitting from any chip by itself in any way, period.
Otto Normalverbraucher · 2022-09-01 21:10
>>19378 Doesn't this present the problem that you are still clicking ads that are displayed according to the pages you are visiting, still building them a profile? Or am I missing something? In anycase, just use ublock.
Project 2501 · 2022-09-27 02:13
>>20027 You're clicking every ad, they will notice this and stop tracking you.
Anonymous · 2022-09-27 16:17
>>19358 >>19376 >>20027 AdNauseam increases costs to advertisers in the short term (sure, getting Google a little more money) but in the long term lowers the value of online advertising and analytics as a business.
Ender · 2022-09-29 12:52
I would suggest first petitioning Google to be broken up as a monopoly into smaller businesses so it has less spread and easier for others to outcompete it or take it on in legal battles.

>>20629 I haven't directly used YouTube since 2017. I don't even know how much more they have fuarrrked things up especially regarding it's UI and other features among those with accounts.

>>20631 i use freetube on desktop/laptop and piped on my iphone, so i haven't been on the site for quite some time, recently the company i work for had a small christmas gathering and someone put on some music an youtube and there was a 45sec ad after every single song, i don't know how "normal people" can bear this since they had no idea what i was talking about pointing out to install ublock to avoid this.

藤原純一 · 2022-12-27 20:20
Ive gotten locked out of accounts because the use of anti fingerprinting combined with a user agent switcher that would change the user agent periodically. Made them think a hacker hijacked my accounts. So be warry of that on some sites if you use an account.
Jet Black · 2022-12-27 21:02
>>20222 Just to add to this, we've already seen the effect that ad blockers have on corporations like Google. Their response is to generally push more invasive ads at greater quantity which in turn pushes more users to employ ad blockers. Google is now moving to limit the use of ad blockers on Chrome, but long before MV3 they removed Ad Nauseam. That's quite telling, other ad blockers are a nuisance to them, Ad Nauseam was an immediate threat.
藤原純一 · 2023-03-28 13:39
Is there any concrete evidence of megacorporations being willing to genuinely ''target'' people who are doing something who go against their interests in a large threatning scale? As in, something on the level of violence agaisnt someone trying to create or do something that will fight against browser fingerprinting, their ability to manipulate and control the average internet browser, their ability to harvest your information and limit your liberty, etc? Im looking for something undeniable, something extreme.

>>21270 Nothing I know of, and, unfortunately the nature of big business and government collusion with the media means that it will likely never be reported in any "legitimate" publication. Welcome to the '20's. Enjoy your stay.

>>19189 >How do we send nonsense data to Google so that the data it collects is useless or misleading? Isn't that kind of what DuckDuckGo does? It sends the data of every user as if it was all one person, rendering it effectively useless for creating an ad profile etc.
