Building a Darknet

Masami Eiri · 2021-11-22 22:43
Web rings and Tilde servers are cool but what if (((we))) started going all the way and building out private DNS roots. SSL CAs operated by people partaking in the network. Wireguard and whatever else to connect with each other and possibly servers specifically designed to be gateways to the existing Internet. Essentially building out an internet on top of the existing one. The current Internet has become too commercialized and is simply becoming a new means for those in power to maintain control, fundamentally a new branch of the media (don't call me schizo unless you've studied marx and the weimar republic, frankfurt school, etc.)

>neurosuggesting the larpers here know how to do that
Agent Jones · 2021-11-23 02:05
a. Why exactly do you need that? Lainchan is regular Internet web server, but run non-commercially (out of owner's pocket). What stops you from running another one? b. There are already LARP overnet clubs at Yggdrasil and i2p, just visit their irc and messageboards to look at levels of LARP uncomparable to yours. They also seem to congregate at Telegram chatrooms because centralized messaging app silos are sooo decentralized and anti-establishment, right? Now these guys are fighting Da System, wahoo! c. To lesser extend you can find these types on Tor network onions. After you've finished sifting through markets, flashy scam sites and imageboards working as daycare for schizophreniac attention-starved NEETs who were derezzed off all clearnet sites (even lainchan). d. Your genderfluid omnisexual non-tertiary postfeminist frankfurt school of thought LARP butt buddies live at port:1965, port:70 and neocities got org port:80, again - reachable at the click of a button.

>>18085 Have you read Daemon by Daniel Suarez? That is scary soykaf and it's about exactly what you said
Cutter · 2021-11-23 10:26
Ideally it would be like Tor where there would be no DNS involved instead using a key-based cryptography like infrastructure.
Switch · 2021-11-23 21:17
>>18092 >building out private DNS roots >Any TLD you want >>18088 >Agent Jones apt, your post is Reddit at best I'm talking about broader infrastructure issues like ICANN having near total control of DNS root servers and the fact that there are only a handful of certificate authorities. But as >>18087 said... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYosersEBoM

CAs are soykaf, use pet name systems DAY OF THE SEAL SOON
Masami Eiri · 2021-11-24 10:26
>>18085 Get involved in gnunet instead. Internet is broken from the day it became public, the only way to fix it is to build another one from scratch, protocol over protocol, like they are trying to do

>don't call me schizo unless you've studied marx and the weimar republic, frankfurt school, etc I wasn't going to until you brought that up. But now I am. You're a schizo. That aside, we don't need to build another "darknet" (dumb fuarrrking word) because we already have plenty of them. It'd be a much better use of your time to contribute to one of them.

>>18085 https://dn42.dev/ is exactly that. It is also connected to a bunch of other networks like ccc and neonet
Nguoi La · 2022-03-28 08:23
I guess lainchan's "purge" thing didn't work out
Tomboy · 2022-04-27 08:17
Where can I find the onions for darknet websites? Darknet.live is cool but they only have drug markets onion.

>internet centralized >lets LARP about DNS and X.509 as if they aren't centralized because im a sterotypical neckbeard sperg and ackthuweually decentralized means whatever iwant it to mean instead of what ppl actually mean when they say it
Ender · 2022-05-03 23:51
>>19246 >>DNS and X.509 as if they aren't centralized Both can be perfectly decentralized. >what ppl actually mean when they say it Blockchain bullshit?
Void · 2022-07-25 16:35
Screw that, just help me figure out how to find secret BBS's and FTP servers. Another darknet would either be really empty, or just another way for skids hired by government officials to set up illegal porn bait

You may be interested in the GNU Name System https://www.gnunet.org/en/gns.html > The GNU Name System (GNS) is secure and decentralized naming system. It allows its users to register names as top-level domains (TLDs) and resolve other namespaces within their TLDs. GNS is designed to provide: > Censorship resistance > Query privacy > Secure name resolution > Compatibility with DNS Can also be compatible with the DNS style to prevent squatting/phishing largely, but it's very malleable. Thoughts?

>>18085 Perhaps we could build our own autonomous network, but what do you prefer as interconnection protocol lainon? Some inspiration networks are https://dn42.dev, freifunk, icvpn and chaosnet!
Agent Jones · 2022-08-08 13:31
>>18085 There would first need to be a "we", e.g. people who want to be neighbors in a more involved way. I'm going to suggest you think more about positively defining the values of the imagined community you talk about, and until then: NYPA.
