Pirate pepe and pirate-speak is amusing. >>17184 Personally I tend to use youtube-dl, which has a bunch of extractors for a lot more sites than just youtube.
Hagbard Celine · 2021-08-19 18:28
I like the frog and I like the swashbucklin Don't use video downloader browser extensions

>>17191 >>17192 >>17193 Mates, like my ancestors who sailed the sea and dreamt to plunder any merchant ship, my dream is to plunder any video I wish. How shall I?

Cutter · 2021-08-19 19:25
>>17195 If an extractor isn't available in youtube-dl, you could add it and push upstream if the site isn't dedicated to copyright infringement (the project has some weird hangup about that). If it is, well, maintaining a branch periodically rebased on their master that literally does little more than add the extractors and add them to the import list would work just fine.
Gyula Kovacs · 2021-08-20 10:29
>>17184 based usually i search for .mp4 with inspect element or i use UBO's element zapper to zap the js in front of the video preventing me from opening the video in a new tab. If that fails I use youtube-dl.

>>17204 Yar har, lad Wind in ye sails, whereva u go How does one break Netflix DRM, m8? Lord Stallman of the GNUish empire says Netflix be the devil yarrrrrrr

>>17184 Obviously OP is like 12 years old, but will spill some "valuable knowledge". - Major video hosting/"streaming" websites have a youtube-dl plugin written for them, I have not checked but am sure it supports worldstarhiphop as well. They support obscure TV channel websites, why not the next thing after liveleak hopped the dolphin. - Inspect element, search for .mp4 or .webm link, copy and download - If you use noscript, it shows a big yellow rectangle, unless it's a pornsite with twelve animated banners on top of a video stream, you're good, click and save element, all pornand javs are published on torrents, amateur model sets on specialized dump sites, don't ever touch MindGeek™ again - Wget page and use regexp woodoo to parse the link - Save page to Internet Archive, then inspect element. It's the most nigger-friendly way of getting hold of yt videos without using shady websites like savefrom that use youtube-dl as their backend anyways, they also have some old deleted videos as well, but you gotta know the link (I accidentally had a video fragment which included it's youtube code in filename, but it was already deleted from youtube by the time I decided to watch the whole thing) - DownThemAll addon, highlights all media files on page, can be fed a regexp mask if there is some pattern like file or directory names incrementing What am I doing with my life

Ye blasted scallywags recommendin' youtube-dl should be aware that it has not seen the likes of its scurvy haulin' maintainers for but a while! yt-dlp is the ship those landlubbers should be fearin' for its crew has been workin' hard to keep it seaworthy. Use not the ghost ship that is youtube-dl! YAARRR

>>17220 I had been under the impression that development had started again on youtube-dl.
Case · 2021-08-20 21:12
>>17220 >>17224 youtube-dl hasn't had many updates lately. Most recent was ~2 months ago, though that could just mean that it's a mature piece of software and it's just being updated to remain compatible as video sharing websites change. yt-dlp seems to be a fork of youtube-dlc (itself a fork of youtube-dl) intended to continue active development of, and adding features to, the software while incorporating any updates youtube-dl makes. As long as it's still being updated with security fixes and the ability to continue downloading from sites, I'd (personally, not saying you should) consider continuing to use youtube-dl. I advocate exceptions to Zawinski's Law. https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

>>17226 youtube-dl is quite mature but there's some important features (like bypassing age verification) that you can only find in the forks. In fact some people are wondering if the original maintainers of youtube-dl have met some legal trouble following the whole DMCA thing. Unless we see commits in the near future I would expect compatibility to degrade over time as often happens with these scraping programs when they grow stale.

>>17238 >forks which bypass age verification ARRRR a treasure that be? Knowest ye where a shipmate can encounter such a fork?
Morpheus · 2021-08-22 15:25
>>17241 AVAST ME MATEY, remove those barnacles from ye ears my boy! yt-dlp will slip past those scout ships as though it was sailin' under the very ocean itself! Can ye imagine of such a thing?!

I just screen record it. Sure its not perfect but its a lazy solution that requires no effort and cant be countered.
