Non-KYC VPS

Are there any privacy friendly hosting providers for VPS or dedicated servers? What are the prices/locations? >inb4 selfhost I don't want my IP address to be tracked.

>>16546 KYC is a term that applies to payments only. The term of art you are looking for is "accountless VPS provider". I like SporeStack - they accept crypto, don't require any account, have a Hidden Service, and API to spin up new servers via Tor with no account and accept payment in crypto. I also thought this was interesting, but have never tried it: >incognet.io

>>16942 >>"always go the extra mile to protect our customers' civil rights, including the freedom of expression, the freedom of the press, the right to anonymity and privacy" >>they only accept traceable payment methods >very suspicious, honeypot? This is the exact game the American Law Enforcement is seeking to play. They are seeking to create discord and distrust in potential alternative institutions and companies by doing things like stealing bitcoin from Darknet Markets ("Seizing"), Stealing money from liberty reserve holders and telling them to prove they arn't criminal to get funds back, or running fake crypto companies and products. IMO, you can't tell if someone is sincere on the internet or not. You can only do you part to use and create decentralized alternatives. If 1984 Hosting turns out to be a honeypot, would using amazon have been any better? I urge all lainons to run Tor Relays (easier to run than exit nodes), as a learning experience , thats cheap, and decentralizes Tor, making it harder for malicious actors to take over. Use and host decentralized services, and do so in good faith. Hosting a Tor Relay can cost as little as $5 a month on a VPS, or free from your home. Relays do not receive legal threats, and their IP Address isn't on exit traffic/Child Porn.

>>16955 > or free from your home The only caveat with this is that relay IPs are public, and some companies blacklist normal traffic from IPs that run relays. When I started running a public relay from home, Hulu and my online banking blacklisted me. It wasn't until I got a new IP from my ISP that I was able to watch Hulu or do online banking again. Maybe I'm too normal person with muh streaming and muh online banking. One way around this is to run a bridge instead. I ran a bridge from home for some time without any trouble.

>>16548 This is kind of obvious but, they don't require your ID. You can just write Lain Chan as your name. Why would you willingly give them your info?
Acid Burn · 2021-08-26 07:27
I will hijack this very good thread in order to pose the following question: How much do you trust KYC providers such as Linode, OVH, DreamHost to remain agnostic to the data stored on your host?

I use liteserver.nl. You can pay with bitcoin and put whatever you want for your account information. So far I've been able to do whatever I want without any trouble, including torrenting (although I haven't been seeding brand new hebrewood blockbusters or anything. Had no problem registering using tor either. So far it's great.

looking for servers that allow portscanning that aren't out the ass expensive. it's been tough since cockbox stopped permitting port scans.
Hagbard Celine · 2021-10-01 08:24
One feature that I miss from all of these so far is the ability to create a firewall external to the VPS instance, such as the one offered by Linode. iptables is not easy to manage if you're using the host to run docker containers, as docker manages its own iptables chains.
