disappearing from the internet

future_schizo · 2021-05-30 01:05
How could someone disappear from the internet (to an extent), after spending a long time on the internet using my real name for almost every single thing I do online? So, I have been using my real name as my username for years now (since I started using the internet), I am kinda of fuarrrked right now when it comes to privacy, just a simple 5 Google search is enough to find who am I, where I live, my interests, old posts and comments, and literally every single cringe I did on the internet in the last 5-10 years. I have a pretty unique name, probably the only person in the world with this name. lately I have been getting more redpilled on privacy and planing to go full schizo mode, deleting all my old presence on the internet. Any advises on that? currently I have three plans: 1. The traditional route, going through my old emails, and finding all my old accounts, recovering them, deleting all my posts and stuff and falsifying my information then deleting the accounts, cleaning search results, contacting sites to remove content I can't control etc... there are 2 problems with this however - first one is that I will never be able to remove everything, most of my data would still be available on these companies' servers, it's more about hiding in this case instead of deleting - second is that there are some mirroring sites that mirror stuff from sites where I have posted in the past, even after deleting these posts and comments from the original site they still show up in these mirror sites, most of the time these sites don't have any way to contact them, or to request the removal of your content, and I don't think they even care, however they end up dying by their own most of the time. 2. The second route is to do the opposite, instead of deleting data, I introduce more fake data related to my name so the real stuff get lost in the crowd, this can be done, by creating fake people with the same name and different ethnicities, nationalities, ages, etc... this can take a lot of time, it's similar to running a disinformation campaign, if will require running multiple accounts, and creating content that sounds real and convincing. there is one flaw with this, my last name is pretty unique it only exists within a small tribe in my country, so it would be kinda of weird to have a lot people with same name on the internet. 3. The third approach is to basically change my name to something else. I don't know much about that though so what do you think?

>>15947 Why not all three? >just a simple 5 Google search is enough to find who am I, where I live, my interests, old posts and comments, and literally every single cringe I did on the internet in the last 5-10 years. Most people aren't going to bother to look you up if you don't stand out much, meaning not a celebrity and don't do crazy soykaf. I have a habit of looking people up, but I'm aware a very small amount of people does it, and it's unlikely you'll interact with a lot of schizos like me. Many people who can look you up will be satisfied with 1st page of Google search, so clean/mess up that page and you're ok. >first one is that I will never be able to remove everything Unless it's some big sites like Reddit or Twitter or somethign like that, they'll die in some 2-4 years max, or change the website in some way that makes it harder to find you. If its big sites they allow you to delete most of the things you posted. >most of my data would still be available on these companies' servers Can't do anything with that, pointless to worry about it. Just don't make so many accounts in the future and it'll be fine. 2 is good if you're completely crazy and obsessed with not being found. otherwise it might be too much of a waste of time. >my last name is pretty unique it only exists within a small tribe in my country Do other people know about that? Especially those you don't want to find your info and who are likely to try? Personaly,, If I looked someone up and found a soykafload of profilles, I'd just not bother to investigate if theyre fake, it woudn't cross my mind if the profiles have more or less convincing profile pic and a couple of posts with distnct writing style, and some friends/followers (you'll have to maintain some kind of connection with other users, and it's tiring unless you wanna make even more profiles with other names) 3 is even more schizo, but if you hate your name its an option, I guess. It'll take some time to change it, at least in my soykaf country it's lots of paperwork, around 3 months/half a year of waiting, then more paperwork, then wait again. Besides, the government will have more info about you in this case, and it's more info you need to hide from people, and you also need to justify why you changed your name to friends/acquaintances if you have them... Anyway, thing is, I have a pretty unique name too, but the surname is an actual word in my language, and the first name is also the name of a historical figure, and these two words are related, so you'll find 10+ pages about said historical figure and none about me. Hope that helpd. Good luck with deleting your stuffs

im in the same situation, though im much much luckier. I've tried for years to remember and find everything ive ever done online to delete be it social media or forums and whatnot, but some things like old emails i made in the late 90's i will never be able to access again because ive forgotten all info. im lucky though as i said because i share the same name as a well known celebrity so pretty much fuarrrk all comes up. change your name?

well, deleting yourself it's not that hard, esentially if you remove the majority of your public posts and delete the email that you registered in those services you can almost be a non existent person to big companies. The only one i still don't do is deleting my email, it's so difficult to remove if you have important stuff associated

>>15957 I have the same name as someone famous as well which is great. also i'v cleared almost everything I know theres 1 thing that's actually public. I don't know how your supposed to get rid of it but it's on youtube a video of my face. I'v contacted google to take the video down but I'm guessing I'm probably going to need a lawyer to help me but I don't have the money for it.

>>16505 oh ty I managed to request them now I should be able to remove my self from the internet better. although I know theres some traces left of me. e.g. emails and other crap
Nobody important · 2021-07-10 16:01
depending on your country you may be able to request that they remove you from the search results AKA right to be forgotten. where possible change account name, delete account, delete posts, edit posts or start going by a different name.easy.

>>15947 As long as nothing comes up that hurts your IRL job prospects etc. it doesn't really matter since it's too far gone now. Most of everything you've already done will have been archived. The important part is separation between anything that could harm you whether it's edgy tweets or full on criminal soykaf online. So that means creating alts, using good vpns/tor, not talking and typing in the same way, using different emails and being careful not to link back to your real identity.

No matter where you go, everyone is connected.

Once you take step #1, and perhaps mess up things with fake data a bit, consider this: Create a new persona. Use your old one for real-world things, and use your new one for internet things, preferably using *at least* Tor for every connection done with your new persona. Do not intermingle your personas in any way whatsoever, metadata or content.

The only things that appear when I google my full name with "" are some results from high school olympiads (maths, chemistry, physics). Sadly these are pretty much impossible to erase from the internet, and aren't really bad things to have tied to my name. Without "", my middle name is a common english word, so there's too much noise to be able to find anything else. Even I haven't found anything yet. >>16544 This is a good advice, I've been using personas since I was a kid and would create a new one whenever I messed up with something. Even though I've messed up with my opsec multiple times in the past, the most someone could find would be another persona of me. Only people who know me IRL would be able to trace it back to me, but I never use my internet personas with real life people.
