gaining access to vehicle - bypassing "SKIM"
I took a summer job at an auto shop, and sometimes - it turns out we go through hell to get access into some of these vehicles.
A guy brings in a car with the alarm going off, and getting the alarm to actually stop is not so simple it seems. Cutting power to the system just makes the alarm continue regardless.
It's a legitimate security system - but I ask - how can I hack it?
Help appreciated, I have much in the way of "mechanic-only knowledge" that can't normally be acquired - pic related
Ex: I can look up the wiring diagram on any car by its VIN, and find the location of the relevant components easily.
Lets have some fun

relevant information - the "Sentry Key Remote Entry" module indicated on the diagram is the same that reads the chip in the key when it is inserted into the ignition on this vehicle (and most others of that period it seems).
the keyless entry FOB and chip in the key both communicate with this same system. Naturally, I have physical access to the vehicle completely. I also have the key- but the key has water damage and we're trying to avoid the hundred or so dollars to pay the dealer.

The Car Hacker's Handbook is the best resource I know of.

Chapter 12 deals with attacking key fobs and immobilizers from a wireless perspective. From my understanding though, all known attacks require you to capture some data from a working fob and [bold]then[/bold] you can break the crypto or guess what the next sequence number will be etc. So probably not useful for your situation.
Chapters 2 and 3 deal with the CAN bus and OBD-II connectors but you probably already know about that stuff.

OP delivers. Ask for more VIN's as you will but expect a day delay or so
