What are some /cyb/ games? Video games, traditional games, you name it. I've been playing Snatcher, and it's really cool.

I always see great reccomendations for System Shock due to their great modding community.

Neotokyo nerd reporting in. The community is clearly divided between those who just downloaded the game and are still trying to get a grip on it and the (mostly Japanese) users who've been playing since release. The devs stopped caring about the game a while back but it's still enjoyable. Tune into some Saint Pepsi, turn on the Neotokyo, and immerse yourself into the Wired.

>>1657 I'm playing the invisible war right now but i'm not overly impressed. The most annoying thing are the loading screens every 2 meters that take quite some time for some reason. The setting doesn't really make much sense either, but it's nice how you can pick for what faction you blow things up. i had some nice moments, like when i reprogrammed the turret and it started wildly shooting at the surveillance camera nearby, or when i argued with the illuminati commando who then tried to kill me and managed to do so post-mortem with poison gas erupting from his mutilated body

Remember Me is pretty /cyb/ I think. I'm not real big on button mashing but I put it on easy and it was fun. It looks incredible and those frogs sure know how to make a flat ass attractive.

Anonymous · 2015-04-06 12:11
>>1678 like i said, i played deus ex:IW before, and i vastly prefer the combat there. you can actually just aim at people and hit them without wasting a billion skill points on fire arms. the original deus ex seems to be designed to play on TV or something because the enemies only see me if i stand 5 meters in front of them, and since i'm not able to headshot them from any further away either, i'm pretty turned off. oh yeah, and sniping means to peer through a tiny ass circle in the middle of my screen that keeps sliding off in random directions. what? i'm pretty sure the sinus function was already invented back then, if they're going to pretend they are a military simulation at least do it good. >lol enjoy the cover system and press "E" to win from the "better" game. i just played HR on pc without [E], was fun. >It didn't disappoint as much as it could have but that doesn't make it any less of a soykafty cash in. The only thing marginally good in it was the art style; everything else was mediocre and just plain lazy at best. ok i will skip it, thanks for the info
Anonymous · 2015-04-06 12:24
>>1679 > i'm pretty sure the sinus function was already invented back then im samefagging to say that i noticed this actually wrong, so the way deus ex depicts sniping is ok
Anonymous · 2015-04-06 13:14
>>1679 I agree with you on the sniping. That tiny circle was pretty annoying. If you max out rifle skills and mod your sniper rifle's accuracy to max the reticle will be just a cross and there won't be any shaking. You can do this less than halfway through the game. Also theres the targetting aug which will make your guns more stable later on. The game is an FPS-RPG. You can't expect to be great at everything the moment you start. If you just want an FPS with inventory and powerups then I guess IW and HR might be a better choice from a gameplay perspective. I wish there was a better balance between gunplay and skills, as most guns tend to be really hard to use unless you get them to advanced skill at least.

Transistor is cyb. Its an indie RPG. The story is fairly linear, but 1) story is great, 2) its beautifuly told. My favorite part of the game is the combat. Works kinda like an optimization puzzle. And you can customize it a lot!
Anonymous · 2015-04-08 01:04

eve divine cybermancy Not a 10/10 game but cyberpunk for sure. I bought it on a steam sale for cheap and would advise others do the same (or pirate the game). I wouldn't pay full price for the game but, it's kinda fun. Here's a short review: I do fuarrrking idea what the story is about. The combat system is the strongest point part in the game. The enemy AI is horrible and comes in endless waves. Also, don't bother with any sort of stealth. The AI will see you from half the map away. The dialog is entertaining. The developers have a sense of humor. You will encounter weird soykaf from time to time too. This is sort of what makes the game worth playing. For instance, I failed to hake a door and got myself hacked instead. Also, the game has a noticeable amount of glitches.

Tron 2.0, it's a sequel to the old movie. It's not exactly cyberpunk (it's set in the 00s IIRC) but it's all set in the cyberspace, mostly inside computers, but there's a small section on the internet too. The visuals are incredibly cool, the weapons look and feel great and it has an interesting power-up system. It's definitely one of the best fps ever made, in my opinion, and I played a lot of fps in my life.

Dreamfall Chapters. "The Longest Journey series is set in two parallel universes: Stark, a cyberpunk future Earth, and Arcadia, its magical fantasy counterpart. Chapters takes place in 2220 CE and continues the story of Dreamfall, whose protagonist Zoë Castillo had uncovered a criminal conspiracy that aimed to enslave both Stark and Arcadia by stealing their residents' dreams. Although Zoë managed to disrupt the conspirators' plans, she was betrayed and left for dead in the end of Dreamfall, and has to find her purpose in life again in Chapters. The writers described the narrative theme of the game as "chapters of life"." It even has gnu\linux ports

>>2206 Isn't that the game that tries really hard to be progressive by making most of the characters gay? I've also heard the almost all of the villains are white men and the game tries to shove it's commentary that "White men are evil" down your throat.
Anonymous · 2015-07-14 19:49
>>2205 Netrunner is really good. Lots of bluffing and hidden information playing as the corp and lots of difficult choices as the runner. The meta-game has held up fairly decently as well, with a wide range of strategies being viable. Unfortunately it's still quite expensive to buy all the cards (though much cheaper than something like MTG), however, you can play in a browser at jinteki.net or via OCTGN (though I haven't used it myself).
Anonymous · 2015-08-17 08:32
>>2208 That's more or less correct. The nu-liberal and social justice nuances of the game are more in-your-face than a lot of reviews would have you to believe. From spraypainted vaginas on street posters to portraying all of the political right as evil totalitarian overlords and racists, it's pretty heavy handed in its propaganda. You'll be hard-pressed to find a stranger on the street who doesn't look 'alternative' beyond the cyberpunk sense of the word. The game itself had tons of money pumped into it and is visually beautiful. If you can tune out the (not so) subtleties being crammed down your throat, you'll find an aesthetically enjoyable game lying underneath. Just make sure not to pay for it.

City in particular has a pretty nice cyb feeling to it even if it's fairly simple. I think that the whole idea of taking all the criminals and putting them in a separate place makes for an interesting experience, and the gameplay is pretty awesome. It's a superhero game, sure, but it also has nice stealth elements, with the added bonus of it being a sandbox game.

Soma was cyb. It dealt with the usual matters like the nature of being, identity, humanity, robotics, frontiers between organic and numeric, as well as a fine glitchy aesthetic. what is with all these hacker themed games i'm coming across now? Hack Trick: tic-tac-toe with cards but the other mechanics add a surprising amount of depth given the lack of stuff you get in the box. Rules tutorial vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs8LgR3YZVU

>>3286 That's actually pretty cool, I'd buy it.

>>1653 Don't know if anyone has posted this one yet but I found a game on github that I can't stop playing, it's called Untrusted and is a dungeon crawler text based java script game where you have to modify level source code to further your progression in the game. https://alexnisnevich.github.io/untrusted/ Picture is screenshot of level 13.

>>3290 Hey, I remember this game! My solution to level 13 was this: var canMove = function(x,y, walked){ return (map.getObjectTypeAt(x, y) == 'empty' || map.getObjectTypeAt(x,y) == 'blueKey') && walked[x][y] == undefined; } var getPath = function(goal, c, max, walked){ walked[c.x][c.y] = true; map.setSquareColor(c.x, c.y, '#FFF'); var sol = []; if(c.x == goal.x && c.y == goal.y){ sol.push({'x': c.x, 'y': c.y}); return sol; } if(max == 0){ return sol; } c.x += 1; if(canMove(c.x, c.y, walked)){ sol = sol.concat(getPath(goal, c, max-1, walked)); if(sol.length != 0){ sol.push({'x': c.x, 'y': c.y, 'd': "right"}); } } c.x -= 2; if(sol.length == 0 && canMove(c.x, c.y, walked)){ sol = sol.concat(getPath(goal, c, max-1, walked)); if(sol.length != 0){ sol.push({'x': c.x, 'y': c.y, 'd': "left"}); } } c.x += 1; c.y += 1; if(sol.length == 0 && canMove(c.x, c.y, walked)){ sol = sol.concat(getPath(goal, c, max-1, walked)); if(sol.length != 0){ sol.push({'x': c.x, 'y': c.y, 'd': "down"}); } } c.y -= 2; if(sol.length == 0 && canMove(c.x, c.y, walked)){ sol = sol.concat(getPath(goal, c, max-1, walked)); if(sol.length != 0){ sol.push({'x': c.x, 'y': c.y, 'd': "up"}); } } c.y += 1; return sol; } if(me.firstrun == undefined){ var walked = []; for(var i = 0; i < map.getWidth(); i++){ walked[i] = []; } me.path = getPath({'x': map.getWidth()-2, 'y': 8}, {'x': me.getX()-1, 'y': me.getY()}, 200, walked ); console.log(map.getWidth()-2, me.path); me.iterator = me.path.length-1; me.firstrun = false; } if(me.iterator > 0){ me.iterator--; me.move(me.path[me.iterator].d); } else { me.move("down");

>>3291 I came up with a cute solution to that one. I just had the robot mirror my movements.

>>3292 haha, yeah, I'll admit that my solution is overkill. But I was pretty proud of the fact it worked on levels 11, 12 and 13. Now that I look at it again, a year or two later, I find it absolutely disgusting.
