Who am I?

Null · 2018-07-02 02:34
Basically, I've been floating my whole life. I never really found an interest in myself, but due to college approaching. I am in need of exercises or methods of finding myself. I've begun writing a journal. Are there any other methods Lain suggest I use?

psychedelic drugs. If that intimidates you, try edibles, it's basically the same.

>>8372 Definitely, Drugs are always the answer, joking aside, I've given that some thought, and if easy to obtain I will certainly try it.
Dox · 2018-07-02 03:48
Don't do drugs lain, if you ever want to do something with a security clearance it'll screw you if it comes up. Go to college and take your general ed courses and get those out of the way first. Dip your toes into things you might want to make your major or focus. If your college will make you pay more as an undeclared major just declare one for some random field; if you're getting your gen ed done first it won't matter that you haven't done anything with the other.

Psychedelic drugs certainly helped me a bit. I can say that in earnest. Moreso they got rid of anxious worries that I was inventing in my head and let me think about things from angles I hadn't noticed before. You don't need to go nuts. It's amazing what one or two meaningful experiences in life can do. Mushrooms and 2ci were my personal favs. Also be sure to separate things you get praised/complimented for from things that you enjoy and can grind on sustainably in the long term. When I was younger I confused those qualities often, which led to burnout and wasted time. Don't staple your self-worth to what other people think your best skillset is. There are marketable skills that you show promise in, yet people won't praise or give you affirmation for them at this juncture. But you yourself may already know about them. It's just an issue of context. Don't neglect those.

>>8374 You're probably right, I'm not really into drugs to be completely honest with myself, but at the same time, I've done similar things before. I wasn't really looking for advice on college though, I appreciate it either way.

>>8373 they're not the answer, but they can make you ask the right questions.

>>8371 I guess I'm going to sound a bit naive when I mention this, but usually when I come across somoene who feels like they've been disconnected from life, then it's usually due to a lack of experiences or an imbalance of positive and negative experiences. If you want to figure yourself out, I'd suggest finding activist groups that put an emphasis on helping the community in some way. If you live by a beach, you could take part in beach cleanup work, or perhaps you might try something to do with wildlife or disadvantaged members of the community. The point is, once you start interacting with people with a given purpose in mind, you start figuring out yourself really quickly. Just going to nightclubs or whatever won't do it because you'll still be too focused internally. Just be careful not to get suckered into administrative work for these activist groups. The point is to go out and try to help people in some manner. Get outside yourself a little.

>>8926 > The point is to go out and try to help people in some manner. Get outside yourself a little. Wrong. The point should be to infiltrate the group and turn them. Therefore netting more people to watch SEL with on a weekend sleepover while wearing comfy fleece bearsuits. You should always aim high when setting goals. Otherwise you'll be settling for less...

>>8371 Understand the fundamentals of how society functions. Develop your own views on how you could see the world as a better place. What does life mean to you? What do you want to achieve for yourself? What motivates you? What distaste do you find in the world today? It is your responsibility to develop your ideology, your life will revolve around it. Go into philosophy, study politics. Accumulate as much wealth as you can, once you're ready and sure that the power you have amassed can be applied to something greater, go for position of meaning. Apply your beliefs, create a better world for your children and your children's children, allow future generations to be able to find your name decorated throughout history books.

read the "Eigen Ein Eigentum" or roughly "The Ego and It's Own" Stirner might have something to offer you.

people are the best way to learn about yourself. they can tell you things in a few days you wouldnt figure out about yourself in a lifetime alone. Id say save the psychs till later. as someone who started at 18 i do feel its effected development. not negatively or positively necessarily, still caution.
Turner · 2018-11-08 08:23
>>10013 Do we get to smoke weed during it? If thats so where do i sign up? Also OP others said it, try drugs and or other new things, just let yourself float in life.
