As of I've been rathe interested in sci-fi media focusing on "zones." Places with mysterous sci-fi propertys while the rest of the world is relativley normal. e.g. Roadside Picnic, Andrei Tarkovsky's Stalker, the Southern Reach Trilogy, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. This soykaf is the bomb and I want more suggestions of similar works/more discussion of this sub gerne.

>>49333 dayz namalsk is thematically similar but perhaps not what you're looking for in terms of a "zone". basically every dayz map has some conception of going "deeper" into the map at any rate.

stanislaw lem's SOLARIS is sort of like this. Its still a scifi world outside of the planet, but its a very mysterious planet.

>>49337 >stanislaw lem's SOLARIS Haven't seen it. Is that perchance an adaptation of the same IP from which Tarkovsky drew his idea for his movie Solaris (1972)? Because it sounds very similar.

>>49338 lems solaris is the original, but the movie in my opinion is less like this than the book. Book and movie (tarkovsky movie I mean; I havent seen the remake) are fairly different imho.

>>49333 You should check out the short film in the Animatrix, Beyond. I think it is pretty much what you are describing. For some reason it's not on YT like I expected, other than this low quality one with ITA subs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol-tnlx5IY8 So, find a better copy.

>>49333 If you have the mental fortitude to spend a few days time reading a book, I highly recommend going through House of Leaves.

>>49333 Disco Elysium has world building like that. In fact, I read it was influenced by another novel from the Strugatsky's, "The Inhabited Island/Prisioners of Power".

If you are fine with Light novels then i can recommend the derivative work Otherside Picnic. Heavily inspired by the OG but it also features a lot of true ghost stories like station february. It's an amazing read, just lacks a bit originality.
