I was morbidly curious to see how the 4chan/g user base is reacting to the controversy that systemd is already requiring age verification. It disturbs me that there are people defending this, but what disappoints me the most is that when I tried to post this (I include the image of my post)...
"Mandatory reminder that the British government is hiding and protecting a confirmed member of the Epstein Gang. Why I am not surprised that they are trying to censor and silence any form of expression that is "problematic" for them (a word they usually use to refer to social dissidence)."
(context: the British government is mostly the one that is pushing and pressuring various organisations to implement these so-called laws to supposedly "protect children". Remember the whole scandal about adult content on Steam and Itchio?)
I was surprised to find that they don't even let me post anything because of "IP abuse." You can assume that I was indeed posting something offensive or whatever, because I have no way of proving otherwise, and I think that little satire I made is risqué, but recently I read a conspiracy theory that actually made my blood run cold: What if all these age verification measures (sometimes with mandatory photos) are to see how many underage population is actively connected to social networks and see which ones pass "the quality test"?
You are free to think what you want and tell me to "take my pills", but things are getting ugly.

The Trump guy who just resigned said publicly the internet is only like 25% real.
Although IDK, I surely wouldn't say my opinion is to the contrary.

>systemd is already requiring age verification.
It doesn't. It provides the feature for programs that want to use it, which is already bad enough, but it doesn't require anything. "Systemd" isn't a monolith btw. The relevant part is userdb (package systemd-userdbd on debian)

on top the stuff the other guy said
systemd doesnt require age verificatrion its your goverment who require it by law. systemd guys obviously don't want to be in jail so they quickly hacked together some patch to legalize their software like a week after law passed.
funny how these people blame everything and everyone except the elites and promote inaction
if you dont want OS level age verification then go to your representatives and protest

Cope and seethe, your idol's mask has slipped, after doing 0 resistance while being put under negative pressure. If you won't fight for freedom you deserve to be called an enemy.
Systemd has turned into a facilitator of global deanonimization, thankful for the people that fought and prevented it from colonizing the whole environment of GNU/linux.

>Well, it is definitely our intention to gently push the distributions in the same direction so that they stop supporting deviating solutions for these things where there's really no point at all in doing so.
Said by Lennart Poettering, founder of systemd. Without the euphemisms what he said is "we want to force people to use systemd". He's a corpo worker with ties to Microslop and red hat, so no surprise at all he dreams of a monopoly.
