I find Serial Experiments Main a very proto mirror on Gnosticism and introduced me into this belief system , has Lain had her spark ignited within and you can see how that progressed as the show comes yo a close

>>48310 KJV is a rehash of the Vulgate Latin bible, a poor translation, and full of the schizo ramblings from King James' obsessive fear of witches. Pastors in their seminary teaching use the NRSV updated edition. KJV should not be viewed outside of poetic value of how older forms of English sound. Likewise Christians views today are in general very unbiblical. Lucifer is not an angel of heaven cast down to become Satan, it's a bastardized name of a Babylonian king and the whole angel cast out thing is about a different angel from the Book of Enoch which in itself is basically what could be described Jewish fanfiction where it's tradition to retell stories from the scriptures in different ways. This distorted view of Lucifer = Satan likely originated from so many people being illiterate in the middle ages.

>>48303 >>48310 I forgot these: Industrial Society and it's future (by beloved uncle ted) Protagoras (plato) History of the peloponnesian war (thucydides) KJV first five books of old testament (Pentateuch) >>48314 iirc KJV is: accurate enough to be servicable poetic enough to be enjoyable unbiased enough to be generally acceptable (orthies vs cathtards vs protechads) >NRSV never heard of it before so i wandered around the web... >https://christianity.stackexchange.com/questions/40066/bible-comparison-kjv-vs-nrsv-ce ""...the NSRV-CE would have words or phrases made to appear more modern, and some words translated with the beliefs and understanding of the translators, rather than translating the words directly, leaving the reader to imply their intention."" ""...the inclusion of "gender-neutral" language in the NRSV-CE, which attempts to remove the gender biases of English, and possibly of the source languages."" ""...the NRSV-CE contains the Apocrypha..."" i think i'll keep recommending KJV for now, thank you. after skimming the NRSVUE and comparing with KJV in ~15 random new testament passages, the differences in translation appear negligible besides the things noted about and a weird exchange of "one blood" -> "one ancestor". not seeing anything worth writing home about. >>>some ramble about satan and muh christians no follow bible >>complaining that modern christians are not following the bible >>in response to a recommendation that someone read the bible >...???

>>48319 >bible hater spills the soykaf color me surprised [not] :-) also, just found out NRSV mangles the virgin-birth prophecy in isaiah 7:14, changing it to "young woman" ""Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son and shall name him Immanuel.""

>>48314 >>48318 >>48320 Everything you have said , whilst as interesting as it may be isn't correct by any means. Your claims about the KJV Bible are untrue as also amongst your other ramblings. As someone of my experience with who spent many years within the church , to leave for the occult , to come back and study the Bible to now see the only true based path is Christian Gnosticism you're ramblings are in coherent and don't stand anything factual nor true.
Sabo Engle · 2026-02-07 23:39
>>48320 That's a different Lain. The NRSV version you brought up was the Catholic edition by the way. The updated edition is the latest. Im not sure when Catholic version was last updated. It's used by pastors for a reason, it's based on the latest information from research. It has a specific way it translates though, it focuses more on intended meaning and making it easy to understand over making a direct translation word for word. >>48321 Those are all different people.

Come back after 10 rewatches glitterboy
Hitomi · 2026-02-09 02:26
Is nobody going to talk about the fact that some thirteen year old has invaded this place? Good sirs, where are your manners? I've hardly seen anyone bullying OP for being a TikTok-addicted Neocities glitterball who will never watch the second episode of SEL, and who probably couldn't explain what the word 'serial' means if they-thems life depended on it.

Dozer · 2026-02-10 01:03
>>48327 I don't care if the users here have never watched SEL or if they hate it, but I have expectations for the other users here. The most important thing is a capacity for mature and interesting discussion. A good trait is to have a strong stance on technology. Luddite, Cybernetic Optimist, Kaczynski Kultist, Valleyhead, Hacker, or Cyberpunk; what matters is the topic of technology is important to you, and you care about advancing the state of discussion on the topic, wherever you stand on it. But most of all, the first one. So, you can see why I'm not enthusiastic about teenagers coming here.
Judge Fang · 2026-02-10 02:17
>>48341 >So, you can see why I'm not enthusiastic about teenagers coming here. Well, just the ones that are obviously teenagers who just spread junk on the boards. Exceptional young people are out there who are most welcome, though we wouldn't know their age anyway. That's the beauty of anonymous boards, there truly is no prejudgment. All I've done is accurately pin the writer on his manner of writing, and if I'm wrong and he's not like thirteen or fourteen... then God help him, for he writes like one.

>>48306 Most anime is horrible piece of media that should be never watched. Stein's Gate and Lain are great. Watching most anime without constantly cringing and being annoyed is a red flag. There's a reason people don't like dubs, you don't want to hear that dialogue in a language you understand because you know how horrible and inhuman it is.

>>48349 This looks promising, I read it was based on a manga by Yoshitoshi Abe, who worked on some of the SEL illustration books.
