Depression

So the reason I was a NEET for 10 years is some medical brain condition? I just took SSRIs for seemingly unrelated reasons and realized I was depressed the whole time. Why didn't you guys tell me about depression?

If you didn't know about depression after lurking on lainchan for more than a week then you likely have a way more serious brain condition

Yes, I'm retarded as well. I thought depression is when you feel sad.
These things need to be explained to us retarded folks!

So after taking the SSRI's you're feeling better now?
Perhaps is more to your situation than simply just
>having depression

SSRIs are made specifically to target depression.
I thought I couldn't do anything because I was just lazy. Blamed myself, unconsciously. Didn't truly enjoy anything, social anxiety, total decision paralysis. I thought it was just how I am as a person.
I didn't realize there was a physical blockage in my head.

The amount of depressed men who don't know what's wrong with them must be in the hundreds of millions. We need as massive a campaign about depression as we did with COVID. It's basically a global pandemic.

fuarrrk, you're right.
I just spent an hour crying. Realized I've been in major depression for most of my life, more than 25 years. Ever since my parents broke up.
I was 5 at the time.
I thought it was my fault.
Goddamnit.

depression is correlated with loneliness and we live in an extremely lonely low trusting society post-covid social media AI. Outside of church and your local animal shelter, everything costs money and effort to participate in and nobody trusts each other.

They also target anxiety, but lets be honest here what they're doing is targeting certain receptors so there is a whole range of things that they are doing to you on a emotion based level, also since everyone is different in some way or another not everyone medication is going to react the same with my body as it is for you.
I personally refuse to take a SSRI Just because how they react with me, so I have to take a SNRI Instead

How people think about being alone shapes their experience of loneliness
Agent Smith · 2025-11-13 20:13
>Why didn't you guys tell me about depression?
Because there's this widespread belief of "sucking it up" especially if you're a man, and usually people talk about the cause not what they actually feel as a result.
Also I hope you take them in moderation and only if necessary because it can ruin your life and numb your emotions eventually if taken for an extended amount of time, how do I know? I literally just take my pills these days and sleep away my days I completely gave up on social life after finding out I could just numb it like a retard
Best of luck lainon!

Sometimes people aggrandize their issues when the core of it is mundane (in which there's no shame, in a fact a mundane problem is better than being uniquely screwed up).

I had a similar "why did no one told me!?" pieces:
1. Ive been *abusing* sugared coffee before the non-alco energy drink craze got news coverage and social reaction's
2. So, our family lives in a modern warm heat-insulated flat yet all our blankets are thick, designed for old shacks and towerblock era rooms. Ive been overheating for years without anyone telling me. Learned how life can be different after buying a nice cotton blanket.
So hey. Ive deen bepressed too due to awful ruined sleep, also have this Y U NO TELL ME id hurdzzzzz...
