mxwjhd · 2025-10-20 20:06
gave up and went back to bedrotting... sad!
fsociety · 2025-10-20 20:13
the email field is pretty much for emails but you can also type "sage" in it to prevent your reply from bumping the thread. welc to lainchan
puppet · 2025-10-20 21:29
What kind of work are you doing, lain?
mxwjhd · 2025-10-20 21:34
Five-minute reflection (not graded):
Why did you go back to bedrotting?
1. Tired
This is probably the biggest thing. Don't know what to do about this. These days I am fairly well rested (in terms of amount of sleep), but that doesn't make me any less sleepy. I can consume >600mg of caffeine and still be tired (no, I don't have a tolerance to caffeine).
2. Bed available
True. Bed is very comfortable. I always crave bedrotting, even when not home. But even on campus, where there is no bed available, I still sleep instead of doing work. So tiredness is really the core issue.
3. Phone available
Not really an issue. Completely fine without my phone, just replacing phone time with sleepy time.
Maybe I have to exercise and become fit. But the results will take a long time to see. Maybe I have to eat healthy or eat more (underweight). Same as exercise, though.
No novel thoughts in this reflection. I have already thought through these things before, many times over. Sad. I guess there will never be a breakthrough.

There are many possible reasons on many levels, starting from actual neuromediator condition called depression, to things like diet and food intolerances or even infections, etc. Maybe check what you eat first, it's the easiest one. If there's something that can cause allergies/intolerances, pay attention to that. Basic stuff like gluten/lactose intolerance for example, or sugar in context of type 2 prediabetes. I've been dealing with a lot of weird soykaf for ages and had actual depression at some point, in general you can often find something that helps or makes it better if you keep efforts.
Switch · 2025-10-21 03:24
Not getting enough calories can make you sleepy. No amount of sleep or caffeine can fix that, just eat more.
mxwjhd · 2025-10-21 13:46
I'm glad that people are responding to this and that this isn't a dead imageboard. In return, I will be more deliberate with my responses.
>>47436
Sad. I actually semi-dumbphoned myself a while ago (maybe three years ago, lasting for about a year), but nothing permanently good came out of it. I am on campus right now and the only desire I have is to lie down on a comfortable bed. Nothing ever happens, as chudjak always says.

A triple board doctor gave me the ICD-10-CM diagnosis F32.1 (current moderate episode of major depressive disorder without prior episode) two months ago. I was subsequently prescribed fluoxetine (Prozac), and the doctor kept uptitrated a couple of times as I consistently reported no positive or negative side effects. I am currently on 60 mg daily, but it's been utterly futile since the beginning. As I have stated elsewhere, if goyslop was a real thing, Prozac would certainly be it. Perhaps of interest is that in the clinical notes, I see "[c]onsidering cross-titration vs adjunctive wellbutrin", so maybe we'll see (I have these appointments with this doctor biweekly). I'm starting to lose my patience, though.
>>47438
Maybe you are right, but the problem with that is that it's difficult to stay consistent with that if I don't see positive results quickly enough. And my understanding is that if that is the underlying cause of my persistent fatigue, the time it will take to see results is probably on the order of weeks (feel free to correct me if I am wrong). However, you and others may be interested in knowing that I do take the following supplements:
> Rugby Daily-Vite Multivitamin: daily [pictures related]
> cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) 50 micrograms (2000 IU): daily
> ferrous sulfate 325 mg (65 mg iron): every other day
Even though I have been taking for quite a while, there has been no noticable change.

So you're already taking SSRIs. I'm personally afraid of them.
What helped me is St John's Wort extract in pills, it's a natural tricyclic AD.

Interesting to know. But I think I'll avoid taking St. John's wort alongside fluoxetine.
I, too, used to be scared of SSRIs. But nothing happened when I did start taking them, so maybe there's not much reason for you to be scared either. Of course, however, people respond differently to medications.

hi lain, i'm skimming this thread in passing and wanted to give some quick advice that came to mind, sorry if it's a bit rambly.
maybe you can make your bed so you feel reluctant to lay in it and mess it up? i personally have a beanbag chair in my room so when i get the urge to lay down and do nothing there's a less disruptive in-between i can go for instead. not sure if this will help you but just throwing it out there.
as for your phone being available you should set it on greyscale mode or even invert the colors to make it look extra fuarrrked. i tried it and it is such a trip i'm sure you will use your phone less if everything looks fuarrrked up lmao.
sometimes small but slightly better alternatives can help you build momentum to do bigger things. when you know you're probably not going to commit to something (e.g. going to the gym) it's helpful to recognize it, be honest with yourself, and do something simpler but more realistic (e.g. taking walks to get exercise) instead. as long as you actually do it you're getting somewhere; that's the important thing.
have a nice day lainon

Oh yes, sorry, I kinda assumed not mixing it with anything but I should have mentioned that. In general St John's Wort has tons of nasty interactions with all kinds of meds, not only other ADs. It's more of a something you can ask your doc about to replace fluoxetine in future.
> so maybe there's not much reason for you to be scared either
I'm also scared of vitamins lol and find the stuff you're taking a bit nasty, with all those folates and b12 with >100% daily value.

The serious side effects (anorgasmia, erectile dysfunction, anhedonia, permanently dampened emotions) aren't instantenous, they usually come after many months or several years even, and they are hard to notice because they happen gradually plus you are watching from the inside, it's always hard to notice changes in one's own personality. Take care friends, get well soon

This sounds like a reason to be scared of them MORE, not less...

The rational, enlightened man cannot win: on the one hand you're being prowled by the crazy-gleamed NatSoc white supremacists and their unhinged doomsaying Christian lackies, and, at the same time, you are being stared down by the mouth-frothing Islamist barbarians on the other hand. It's beginning to look a lot like the Jews were actually onto something: if the only other options are picking one type of retarded Abrahamist insanity over the other, then one might just as well go with the option which at least comes with a sweet new temple, accompanied by the mandatory nucular culling of the other two pests at the same time.

you're onto something, but whatever spawned from christianity came from a watered down versions of the first priests (aka the jew) first and foremost.

And to make matters worse:
>The rational, enlightened man
The rational, enlightened man is neither rational nor enlightened.
>rational
Strict materialism makes for too many loose ends. It's good for training yourself for better thinking, all restriction works like this (see: demoscene) but it's just not useful outside of self-growth, and quickly loses growth potential as you become *actually* more enlightened.
>enlightenment
Hilarious word, misrepresents everything that being enlightened actually is. The erronously named "enlightenment era" is the cause the the hypermaterialist, hyperindividualist, selfish worldview that is the liberal worldview. The dominant one.
To be this deluded is to be stuck. Good luck.
