What messengers will you use if every populal messenger bánned?

Sup lainons. I'm that OP,who wanted run away from Russia to Shítmany Russian govrement blocked Discord, Viber, Insta, Facebook, Twitter, CríngeTok, YouTube , and not popular apps and sites too. I tried Briar and this dont work in Russia.Now I downloaded Bitchat,but there are no users now. What app will you use if your country ban popular messengers?

P.S. they wanna block WhatsApp and join all people to a national góyrement messenger,like in China

Just start going down the list of old or alternative messengers. Matrix, IRC, Tox, etc. Avoid telegram because the creator started agreeing to help governments when requesting information. Keep notes, keep accounts around like keeping a fishing line in the water to see if someone joins.

You need to avoid anything that relies on central servers or decentralized onion routing that has reliance on known exit nodes because these can be blocked. Most difficult to shut down would be something P2P or run over the i2p network but the later nothing does this by default currently. Try Jami which is likely best for your use case contacting friends since it is for multiple platforms (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS) and has various features and is distributed P2P. In theory i dont think this would be easy to block but I could be wrong.

It might be a good idea to hide messages in images and use memes to hide your communications in plain sight. Steganography is the name I believe, I know there's /layer/ which utilizes this form of talking. I would imagine you'd be dealing with people upset you post something outside of the "socially acceptable" (aka wasteful nothings that allow a great deal of decay) narrative and not people smart enough to check for a message hidden like this. You could start doing that and tell people irl about it, assuming you have local friends with a similar type of autism.

>>46780 I think IRC would not work well for your use case of contacting friends. IRC channels are more like how Discord servers are. You can use it to directly contact people but it often is used for group chats primarily and to have a private meetup spot I think would mean you need to run your own IRC channel unless I am mistaken. It has been a few years since I last used IRC and never used it for that purpose so I am unsure on this.

Self-hosted IRC/Matrix/XMPP or Tox over Tor are probably the way to go. Just avoid anything that require a central server.
