God how I hate seeing something I love nearing an end Every time I consooooom something I enjoy, manga for example and especially if it's finished publishing I get this suffocating feeling in my chest, I know it's not healthy substituting real life with delusions and authors fantasy, but I have nothing else How can I convince myself that it's a good thing to finish something and see it end when I get sad and then repeat the same retarded mistake over and over?

Depending on what it is there might be a fan community, fanart, writing, etc. Yeah most fanfic is mediocre but it can be fun and sometimes you find a gem. Fanfic is the writing equivalent to cheesy b-movies. Also I always think of it as making room for the next thing. If the one thing you enjoy lasted forever it'd turn to sḥit like the simpsons or family guy. Let it have a normal lifespan so it doesn't become a shallow mockery of what it started as or as I call it the Disney treatment. If anything you could enjoy fanart of the thing or find a community to share and discuss your favorites in assuming that wouldn't rekindle the bad feelings.

How about something endless? Like Dwarf Fortress or Rimworld?

>>46702 moe is a powerful feeling, it can either drive you to make the world of your dreams for yourself, or it can drive you insane for wanting of it. i find that the deeper I go in the rabbithole vis a vis fanfiction, doujins, etc, the less satisfied I ultimately find myself. i think the best cure for moe or fiction obsession is to move on to another topic. i repeatedly find myself stuck in the world of tolkien which has only a finite amount of canon, but it's a whole world of it. i have to watch/read something else to get out of it

>>46703 >"Let it have a normal lifespan" I just can't, I feel so alone, I get attached easily and even when it goes to soykaf I'd always cope about it being with me at least, present.

>>46702 you're not substituting reality with fantasy, you're substituting fantasy with reality. you're too scared of yourself that you need a "reality" constructed by someone else instead of allowing yourself to have your own desires, wants, fantasies, et cetera. you're disavowing yourself by replacing your own thoughts with external imagery - if not literally (you don't want the objects/relationships that XYZ character wants), then figuratively (the way you want objects/relationships is how XYZ character wants them).

>>46702 You need something to return to, and you need to return with something. If you have nothing to return to, then focus on returning with something - something you can use to build something to return to.
