I agree with the sentiment.
fuarrrk cloudflare and the whole fuarrrking corpoweb with it too. It takes a few seconds to load lainchan on my computer, and it takes forever to load just about any corpoweb site, so I'm stuck talking to the nazis that make up this site.

I would have problems with verification or accessibility of some sites with Cloudflare as the host service. Say, for example, TwitchTracker runs Cloudflare verification checks, but at one point these verification checks can fail, constantly throwing a constant loop.
I had discussed accessibility blocks previously on /q/, where I explained accessing heolkek.cafe/index.html via https://allchans.org/ throws up a message saying "you've been blocked and unable to access the site", but browsing heolkek.cafe via search engines worked: https://lainchan.org/q/res/12273.html#q12820
Why is this a thing when some sites have no issues with CloudFlare, if not a hosting provider?

I disagree with this since there were other problems with it on my end.
Ivan Horvat · 2025-05-14 10:39
Some older browsers fail to pass CloudFlare checks too because it wont load correctly.

You complain about Clownflare, yet you ignore Anubis, which is just as bad, and in some cases, even worse.

you're not even explaining why it's "just as bad or even worse", lmao

Not that Lain but Anubis doesn't work on some older browsers currently.

Anubis doesn't require you to setup her certificate to decrypt, log and analyze all your traffic, like Cloudflare does.

The worst thing about Anubis is that they always claim that a No-JS version is WIP, but it's not like they care enough to actually do it. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I have no clue how a client-side PoW captcha is supposed without JS. I would respect them a bit more if Anubis actually became usable without JS, though I doubt that will ever happen.

So yep. One of the messages I've got was
Verification is taking longer than expected. Check your Internet connection and refresh the page if the issue persists.

Should be more like: Is CloudFlare a problem or is it me thinking of this?

RIP Ladybird 2018-2025
An independent browser was killed before it was even born. Cuckflare did it. By bribing it's main developer.

They should give user some kind of hash and input field for the result, and a link to a static page describing computations user should do to that hash, and results they should type into the input field. Then user can implement the computation on their own by writing a script in their programming language of choice, or use premade open-source cli utility they trust that takes the hash and gives the answer.

ladybird.org is still up wdym it's dead?
are you saying it can't verify with clownflare on websites?

Anubis seems a far better option than cloudfare on many aspects just as >>46995 pointed out.
Cloudflare analyzing everyones data , to which they probably use to profile users information and save it, being well nested within big corpo everyone flocking to cloudflare. Anubis would break the monoply

It didn't break any monopoly. It only contributed to it. Since the AI boom, most of the Surface Web is behind the "border guard inspection" gates like Clownflare, Anubis or DDoS-Guard. Thankfully, DDoS-Guard isn't gatekeeping Tor users just because they use Tor, but that's the only reason to choose that over CF.

itch.io now runs CloudFlare because the site had a DDOS attack, leading up to a 429/too many requests error. XCancel fetches the 429/too many requests error after you browse, like it's grown tired of people browsing for so long that it stops them... almost like a gate.
