Have you ever felt like you were truly in love with someone?
ayanami · 2025-02-01 03:38
I loved a sweet and cute girl at my school, but the damn pandemic turned everything upside down, I graduated, started business life and just received an invitation to that girl's wedding.
If you love it, go and tell it, time flies so fast

My first and only gf I thought I was in love with, but that was love from the perspective of being young dumb and fulla cum, not from what I now understand as love that im much older.

It doesn't necessarily mean youd be in the other person's place. You could have just had your heart broken instead. Also who knows maybe she will get divorced and you wind up with her when you already given up anyway.
Lain Iwakura · 2025-02-01 04:52
I changed school when I was 12, and one girl made sure to make me company in the first days so I would not feel alone. Next year, her father transferred to another city and I never saw her again.
Sometimes I think about her, I wish once everything is over I could meet her in the afterlife and just hang out.
There was this girl that I really liked in high school. Something about the way she laughed and her personality was just uniquely captivating. I once looked at her Facebook page. She doesn’t look like I remembered her, and she now mostly reposts trashy political stuff.
A few times I wished I could just go back in time to meet that girl as she once was, but life went on. Even bad experiences I once wished to change, I now see as necessary to get me here, and once you find something you truly value, you see how foolish that desire was.
Don’t worry lainon, you will love again.

There was one girl who liked me when I was attending a program at university. She was not in my class, she was further ahead in the program, closer to graduation. She was one of several people to visit my classroom during our first week at the program, people would come to welcome us to the program. She visited the classroom with her friend. The moment she stepped into the classroom I noticed her and hoped she would talk to me, and it seemed like she noticed me as she walked in. I could sense that she was going to make her way over to me eventually. She did speak to me briefly, after speaking with several other people first (I was in the back of the class) then left. Later on when I encountered her on campus I noticed she would stare at me. I didn't see her often, I never even learned her name, I told her mine when we first met but I never asked hers, it was kind of awkward, she left before I even thought to ask. I went a few months without seeing her around, I think she graduated from the program. After those several months, there was one time when I was on a bus and she kept staring at me and asked her professor who she was visiting who I was, and her professor knew me and told her who I was. I don't know if she forgot my name and where I'm from, or if she did that to get my attention. Either way, she showed interest. She stared at me for the whole duration of the bus ride. Then there were several other times she would try to get my attention but I was too afraid to reciprocate, I didn't know what to do. I'll give you the worst such example, it was my golden opportunity to say hi to her and get her number. I was at a bus stop waiting for the bus. There was this metal bus enclosure. She was on the one side of the enclosure, I was on the other, so we couldn't see each other, neither of us even knew the other was there. I walked toward the road, away from the enclosure, and stood, facing the road, waiting for the bus. Later on, she walked out to the road to wait outside of the enclosure, so she came around where I was standing, and she saw me, and I saw her in my peripheral vision, and she froze for a few seconds and just stood staring at me, it was like in the Godfather where Apollonia sees Michael for the first time. But I pretended to not see her, I wasn't directly facing her, but any person who wasn't blind would notice her from their peripheral vision, I couldn't convincingly pretend to not see her. This went on for like 20 seconds, I was just too afraid to interact with her at all. Anyway, whenever I think about that moment it drives me insane that I didn't do anything. My mind was screaming at me to do something, but I didn't. And I had a few other chances after that, but I kept forgetting to reciprocate, out of fear. Anyway, I never knew her name, and I haven't seen her in over a year, I don't even know if she's around here anymore. It drives me insane mostly because I saw how she interacted with people, she was a very friendly person, she was very beautiful, I probably could've dated her but I was too afraid to risk failure I guess. I wonder what she thought of it.

Maybe that one girl from middle school, but she later turned out as a hoe, so this feeling quickly disappeared.
I had some social interaction with girls after graduation, but it barely compares.

yes. I never yearned for love nor felt capable of giving it. I entered relationships because i enjoyed the companionship, but they all felt like a friendship with sex to me. not a hint of love as it had been portrayed to me. for a while I thought that perhaps I was in love, but that it just fell short of the expectations i had for it. but that conclusion seemed odd because the women I was involved with always seemed like their love for me perfectly reflected what i imagined true love was.
then one day, something unknowable changed and I was in full-blown love with my girlfriend.

wow. i hope that would happen to me to. i have a really strange way to approach romantics and relationships. everytime i flirt with someone, it lasts like two month and then i feel like i need to move on further. as soon as i discovered that pattern i always told the person that i'm like that, but still most of the times they developed feelings and were eventually hurt. thus i figured out that wornings and words don't matter at the end.
i think i would categorize myself as a very honest womanizer.
it's like i know that i am to blame but i wash my hands by telling them straight about what to anticipate. maybe they want to fix me? idk

I've never felt it. I've been attracted to people but its rare. There was a cute girl 2 years ago and about 6 years ago I remember being attracted to two girls. I haven't felt anything since then. I think something's wrong with me. There was a time when I did feel attracted to people outside but for the past year that has gone too. I step outside and nobody catches my eye. I think those parts of my brain have started to weaken and nothing registers now. I've also aged past being attractive to others.

similar experience for me
i was ~23 or so, didn't feel love for anyone else in my life. but she made me feel something nobody else did, mostly in my chest, like butterflies. she told me she felt the same way. we had a very disastrous fling on account of rushing into things and cheating on our respective gfs at the time lol. then she got sucked into a cult. this was not the end of the friendship, we went back and forth on each other for a while. we stopped being friends about a year ago after i told her that i felt she was taking me for granted and being toxic, that it reminded me of when she was still in the cult that she was mad at me for some reason we weren't allowed to talk about and her paranoia about me justified the toxicity. then she blocked me.
nobody else i felt the same way since, probably never will be again either. it is what it is.

Around three years ago, there used to be a girl I was classmates with when I first entered university. Really cute person. She made an excellent first impression as I was walking home from uni one day, and I just happened to see her buying some food for a bunch of homeless dudes.
We had different schedules, but every time we'll be together, I spent it alongside her, trying to get to know her despite my complete lack of social skills (The pandemic was beginning to subside) and autism. Surprisingly, we hit it off. Both me and her somehow hit it off or something.
Two months later, she suddenly left my uni due to health reasons. I tried to keep the fire going, but I figured that it wouldn't really work out, as the both of us have busy schedules and live pretty far from each other.
Maybe it was for the best. From what I can see of her Facebook profile, she's been having a good life. I wonder if I should try to rekindle the flame; or not.
I regret not initiating more conversations with her online when she was still studying in my uni. And I can only think of what-ifs.
What if she had stayed and continued studying here with me? What if? If not a close friendship, would it have blossomed to a romantic relationship?
Who knows? Life is cruel, lainons.

you should stop circling like this - even if you can't date her again, you might still get along or learn she wasn't the person you thought she was anyway. either reach out or block/unfriend. she definitely has not been waiting for u, but the fact that she dwells on the periphery like this is clearly making you unhappy. there is some sadness we must accept in life but it is not this

people underestimate how nice it can be to hear from old friends. I say reach out. "I was reminiscing about college the other day and thought of you. How have things been?"
it is probably too late and too poor circumstances for romance, that's just the way life goes, but that's no reason to not feed the friendship.

I don't know how old you are mate, but I have a feeling I'm significantly younger. I don't think anythings wrong with you. I've never felt that way about anyone either; it's more common than you think. I've pathetically had to make up a "crush" in secondary school so my friends and family would shut up about it.
I think what most people identify as love is a mix of lust, fear (of loneliness), and insecurity.

I haven't had friends since middle school and I never had a gf. I have too many schizoid-like personality traits, too. I wouldn't be a good friend to somebody, let alone a good partner. I need to relearn to be a (hopefully) good friend again, before I can start even think about a gf. But the thought of having friends or a gf is scary for me, honestly. I don't know why exactly.

Yes, I fell deeply in love with a girl who lives in another country from me and we were close but I let myself down and feel like I failed her from my own problems and her problems got in the way too. Never, despite wanting it for so many years. I'm now over the age at which it's possible to happen, but the desire stubbornly persists. It feels like being on an island and watching a ship sail off into the distance. Most days I bury my head in work, hobbies and pornography to keep myself distracted until that happy day I forget I ever wanted it.

Sometimes I'd get confused and trick myself into thinking that what I felt for another person was love, but then I'd realize just how hollow such thinking is. However, the thought of me being incapable of expressing genuine love for another human being is too terrifying to confront, so I persist with these hollow thoughts in the vague hope that they will one day become real.

Honestly not sure. I only had 1 romantic relationship in my life and it was a very weird experience. Almost like I either gaslit myself into thinking I was in love with her or my feelings were extinguished before we actually got together without me fully realizing it. We've known each other for 3 years before going all in, we were both in the same highschool at the time. I tried making a move in the first year and she let me know clearly that she is not interested in a relationship. I was fine with it and we stayed close friends. After highschool we went off to different universities and started kinda drifting apart. In what feels like a last ditch effort to keep me close to herself she started approaching me differently and we ended up together. In hindsight it really looked like she was in a way emotionally dependent on me. The relationship didn't really last long and it felt wrong in a way, maybe I just got too used to viewing her as a friend.

Oof, that thread is just for me.
I haven’t been able to share my feelings on this topic because lately my native board doesn’t allow posts from abroad unless you pay for a passcode. It’s just ridiculous…
I want to give Lainchan a try.
And to be honest, I just want to spill it all out for the first time.
I’m a 27-year-old woman.
I don’t think I ever really loved any of my exes — except for one person.
We ended terribly, mostly because I was crazy and unstable, and he was a pathological liar (which triggered me hard, lol).
I realized that I truly loved him because I genuinely cared about his well-being.
I wanted to make him happy. I wanted to protect him.
I’ve never felt that way about any other man.
With others, it was passion, obsession — maybe even addiction. But in retrospect, I don’t think I really cared about them.
It was just the illusion of love.
I still think about him all the time. I want to text him, but I can’t — he asked me not to.
We tried to stay friends. I even found a new partner, but my ex told me to never contact him again because our connection brought him too much pain. I tried once to do that but it didn’t get well so I don’t want to bother him ever again.
It’s been five years. And I still can’t move on.
The only place he didn’t block me was on Battle.net — lmao.
I used to check his online status from time to time, just to make sure he hadn’t killed himself or something.
But recently, he blocked me there too.
I was kinda surprised he even bothered to do that.
Does he remember me? Does he hate me?
I feel pathetic, you know?
As a girl, I get a lot of attention. I could use that, I don’t struggle to find someone — not like most guys do.
But I don’t use it. I just stay at home, play soykafty games, don’t socialize.
I don’t have the energy or desire.
I’m stuck in the past… and in the meantime, I’m not getting any younger, prettier, or more alive.
And In the end, I’m poisoning this genuine feeling turning it into an obsession just because I can’t move on

Never in the flesh, I have such a loving soul but I've been conditioned to never let my guard down over the years. I got catfished once and it definitely felt good until I realised the sheer emptiness where my heart was being simulated on the screen. I was treated good in cyberspace, just enough to be vulnerable. I never felt so loved before. And vulnerable to being hurt at the right time. My loving soul was meant to connect and protect, but I've been battered... I'm not sure I want to love someone in the future per say but the loss of my natural baseline does feel quite bad.

Back when I was in high school, I had this crush on a girl who was a grade older than me. We were both in marching band and we had one class together because I was taking classes with older students because I was apparently prodigy (which doesn't matter because I'm a NEET failure now). She was nice to me I guess. I don't know if she ever liked me. I don't want to tell an entire story but basically I had severe social anxiety and didn't really have friends in my school years. I couldn't look her in the eyes or even speak up if I had to say something despite working in a group with her and some other band dorks. I really didn't like band or the people in it for reasons (mainly they were all annoying) but she was alright. Kind of a tomboy too I guess. Whatever, that was decades ago and I'm in my early 30s now. I still sometimes have dreams about her but I have to remind myself that it's done. I didn't say anything and I don't think I'm ever going to see her again. That's what I get for being too shy and anxious. I'm used to be alone for what it's worth. Don't have to deal with drama or anything like that. Other than her, I never really had any other crushes. I live to cope and that's alright.
Sabo Engle · 2025-04-22 21:11

Sabo Engle · 2025-06-12 19:06
It has happened to me, unfortunately.
I once wanted to be a lifelong KHHV. However, I ended up falling in love, and that was ruined. The one thing I didn't realize previously - is that there is a reason that the species has been here for 8 billion years - why everything is about love and relationships, and that is because falling in love is the most powerful thing a human can experience. I once thought the couples who I saw were merely retards. When I saw people crying about breakups, I was dumbfounded. It's hard to think of the moment at which I fell in love. I know that the time leading up to it, I felt quite strange. I don't know. It was like something strange was in the air. Something ethereal. I know, however, I begun to wake up in tears thinking about this person. I undulated between laughing and crying. Somehow, I knew that they were unique and special, and no one could replace them. They have a place in your heart that can't be filled by anyone else. The thought of losing them eats you up inside. It was this very deep sense of wanting and yearning. They are uniquely them. They are very important. It was an intense feeling of wanting someone despite all of their flaws and imperfections. The air shakes and quivers like something electric and unseen is pulsating. Also, it turns the logic centers of your brain off and makes you okay with saying and doing things you don't normally do. It makes you very stupid. It was quite powerful, and words could not encapsulate the way it felt and the emotions behind it. Everything in my world came to a stop just for that one person, and it was terrifying. It was like being hit by a bus. Everything melted away into waves of compassion. Each kiss was like electricity being sent down my arms and legs. It was like melting away into a puddle of warmth - like being bathed in oxytocin. The sensations were ungodly. I had merged into my partner and we had become one - a unit. The connection was incredible - it was a mind-to-mind connection. Everytime I would think something, they would say it. Again, words merely could not encapsulate this experience. What was also, interestingly, disturbing, was that there were a couple of times where my brain "turned back on," and I became overcome with panic. Like I had been possessed by something strange and ethereal. Like a parasite.
There was nothing wrong with my relationship. In fact, it was quite a good relationship. But the aftermath of my experience is a deep cognitive dissonance, in that it has changed the way in which I view everything, and it challenged every belief I once had about relationships. It took from me my identity and original sense of self. An innocent and untouched self. A pure self. It represented death and transformation all at once. It was with a person whom I least expected it to be with.
It was simply one of the most powerful things I have experienced in my life, and for that reason, I don't want to experience it again. I argue romantic love is more dangerous than anger or hatred for the reasons I mentioned previously, insofar, it is so powerful that it causes us to lose sight of reality in that sense. What is more dangerous is falling in love with the wrong person, and falling in love, unfortunately, is not something we can control. It gave me more insight and sympathy for victims in domestic abuse situations and why they can be so hard to leave.
Has anyone experienced anything similar?
Rick Deckard · 2025-06-12 19:55
Not really. I had a few crushes, two of whi9ch pursued me and even asked me out, but I rejected them for whatever reason. Then lost my health and kind of couldn't, and went into a very different frame of consciousness where much of my humanity was shelved and offered as a sacrifice. 10+ years later, get to be like 30, and can't really get into it. As a child I was also prone to crushes on fictional characters, like your pic rel.
I have a generalized diffuse sort of "unconditional love", but can't really discern between objects at this point. Anything that isn't me is "The World". If someone does something to me, I often interpret it as the whole world's disposition towards me. If something is done to me, it is gathered up and then done to the entire world tenfold. If someone is nice to me, I will help someone somewhere else, because it balances "The World", which I am not part of, but have a sort of puppet within, and refuse to bind to it further. If you want to love a person you must be immersed in the world, and relate to somethng of the world, and allow yourself to be tethered and bound by the world. To become wrapped in the tangled web of people's lives.

No, I don't think so. Every time I said I was, I was either lying knowingly or unknowingly (in the sense that even I believed the the lie myself), but it was always a lie. I even was a relationship, where I didn't feel any love throughout the whole duration of it. I never felt any of the signs of being in love, neither romantic loneliness. I don't feel any love for my parents or other family members either. The thing is that I'm not an apathetic husk, I do experience feelings, but not love.

I think you do experience love anon, I think you probably just don't know how to quantify the sensation and so it doesn't consciously register to you. You can't word it or really "conceptualize it" so it feels like it's not there when it really is. You're blind to the content of your own heart.
But I do think you love. And I think you are loved.

I loved a girl, but because of my job, it would have been a criminal conflict of interest.
I did seriously wonder if loosing my job and being a criminal was worth loving someone.
To make things worse, she strongly implied that if it wasn't for my job, she would definitely want to be my GF (obviously she didn't want to get me fired).
Part of me want's to quit my job, and part of me want's to just forget it all. It's too painful to think about the situation even more. But if I quit my job, there are no guarantees that a relationship would work out long term.
Love shouldn't be a crime... but then she moved away and I have no way of contacting her. Maybe it's better that way. Even though I only knew her for a few months, the more we talked the more I realized she was actually the person I have been looking for my whole life.

failed "volcel" here - falling in and out of love was physically traumatic - it felt like all of my bones were broken and the wind had been knocked out of me. It threw me so physiologically out of whack. It feels like my bodily baseline kinda got screwed up - my sleep got ruined, my weight has shot up. I still don't feel normal. Try this, but with your entire sense of self dissolving. Everything is okay now Present Day, Present Time! AHAHAHAHAHA!
For now, I still feel love for people, but I can't love people anymore. It isn't that I don't want to love, it's just easier to not love someone, especially if society frowns upon it.
Not me, but another example, someone explained how he dated a girl who was from Iran, and he went to visit her one time at her parent's house, and then he ended up on a watchlist and traveling was a nightmare. Especially today, your relationships can become unnecessarily political depending on your nationality, and that's a problem for people wanting to just love someone as a person.

I see a pattern where most people on here like nerdy girls who are pretty oblivious to social contact.
I assume it comes from low self-esteem and inexperience, I used to have a crush on a girl who was pretty outsy and my heart would ache every time she told me about all the fun she had. I know this sounds horrible but there's a terrible amount of closeted jealousy that I feel for people who had a good social upbringing.
Sucks to reflect back on, even if I manage to get a girlfriend I'd just end up being a manipulative freak who wants a co-dependent relationship.

There is no need to frame everything in such a negative light. Being a homebody and enjoying spending time in a small company of tight knit friends you actually like has nothing to do with being a manipulative freak. Also, your envy towards "social upbringing" is unfounded. There's nothing special about hanging out with a huge crowd of people who smell of vapes and weed, and slur their words in drunk frenzy. Just go and try it, it's not all that it's made out to be. Some people get a rush out of it, it can be fun, you can be a part of many silly antics, but some people enjoy something more peaceful and quiet and that's okay.
But you seem to be a different kind. Instead of actually preferring the peaceful solitude, you want socializing and stimulation, but avoid it. What was you reason. Cowardice?

This pattern only exists because the alternative (i.e. normeehs) are all about social contact to an unhealthy level. Most people crave social validation, and are willing to go to extremes to get it, including conforming to toxic lifestyles. Meanwhile, people with high levels of self awareness and individualism are also more prone to not fitting in because they aren't bothered by the need to fit in to the capitalist rat race.
almost every girl I have had a crush on/loved has had a few things in common:
>Rebellious about their role in society
>Didn't adhere to social expectations (Most in a good way, some in a bad way)
>Had dumb phones (this is purely coincidental, but more about their unique views on communicating face to face being more important than wired)
I drifted away form all of them over the years, but the memories still linger and I find myself smiling and lost in melancholy from time to time when I think of them and wonder what might have been.
There was a girl who said she loved me a few years ago, but she was also on her phone almost 24/7 to an unhealthy level, and among other things, she used tinder for validation (and I suspect she was also hooking up with guys on there even though she claimed she did not). That's a whole other story for another thread, but needles to say, I suspected early on that her feelings for me were only because I was the first person to show her any kind of respect, and I avoided a toxic relationship by friendzoning her
The Plague · 2025-07-15 09:55
Today I had a weird dream about her for the first time in a long while for some reason. She was asking me for linux distro recommendations, and talking about surveillance capitalism. Weird, that was kinda out of character for her.

I loved someone once, or thought I did. It was in college. She was very enthusiastic about my body, which I guess was what initially got us together. During this infatuation period I asked her to marry me. I learned more and more about her. It was mostly bad - she was unwilling to compromise on anything and made me feel like a failure all the time, like I was responsible for her happiness and wasn't giving her enough time. I almost failed some classes because of that. She made me cut off some of my friends, and poisoned me against others that I would have really liked to be friends with.
Often times it's better for love like this to end in flames than it is to wish you had it back. I look back on that experience mainly with pity, I'm glad we broke up.

In case, I am not exaggerating, for our first month "dating" I was deep in denial and though we were "just friends" who for some inconspicuous reason go on long night walks, help and are around each other almost 24/7. Loving have nothing to do with trust.
You can have a strong crush with a girl you don't know, or be a 60 year old dad who says he hate his wife because he know who she really is but still stay with her because really, he love her.

>or be a 60 year old dad who says he hate his wife because he know who she really is but still stay with her because really, he love her.
Not this guy, but love makes you delusional. There was this one blog entry I read about some child describing their father as madly in love with their mother to the point of being delusional. It said something about their mother's cooking not being the best, her sometimes not being the greatest person - yet, it was all painted under a rose-tinted veneer.

But I also warn you - I once used to be like you and have a similar thought pattern. But love is insidious, and sneaks up upon you - until it rapidly infects you, destroying every bit of logic in your mind, spreading like a wildfire until you've been overtaken completely like a madness.
Do not assume you are immune. Never interact with any member of the opposite sex for any period of time.

One person can change everything, even if they aren't perfect by societies standards, they can be perfect to you.
As someone who used to be detached but still very social, I met the girl of my dreams by coincidence, and I never told her how I felt even though for some reason I felt genuinely happy and for some reason It was like the world wasn't as dark a place when she was around. It was love from a distance, which is really one sided, but I was known for not really opening up to others, and still being friendly to everybody.
One day I had a talk with a friend who laughed when I told them why I looked sad, and they said "You aren't a robot, that's love!"
Now it's stuck with me years later, and I if I ever meet someone who makes me feel like that again, I don't want to hesitate telling her how I feel.
You can be cold to the world, but eventually it all comes crashing down and you get feels you didn't even know you could have.

I want to tell you that if you don't want this to be a lifelong regret
use everything you can to tell him how you feel. Just like this article you wrote to yourself
it has nothing to do with your age or beauty. I hope you can fall in love with him again
The following is also written for myself (sorry I am always very negative)
Sometimes I often wonder, what is the meaning of my existence?
I am afraid of loneliness, but I can never leave loneliness
I am always looking for something to fill the loneliness so that I don’t feel lonely anymore
It can be work or sexual desire, but I just can’t fill this loneliness
Maybe I can only live like this in my life
What is love
When did I forget it

they never become real and i never accept it. to me feeling love is like an itch you want to scratch, but no amount of scratching helps, so you give up scratching. but the itch persists, and you tell yourself, this next time i'll scratch it and it'll disappear for sure, i'll keep scratching it will go away. but it never does. and it repeats.
no amount of "love" has persisted with me for more than a year, since after the novelty wears off i realize there was nothing really there besides the sex, i just really wanted to convince myself otherwise. something invariably happens, we break up and i don't bother to make amends. and soon later i'm looking for it again. rinse and repeat. there is no end to it. it's a complete absence of oxytocin in the brain, something like that. can't connect to people like lovers or even close friends. i like to imagine it genetic and unsolvable. i've hurt a lot of people and i know i will hurt more if i bother. but the itch never really goes away. you learn that you seek desperately to feel like a human and fail miserably at it. every time.

I’ve fallen in love a bunch of times, but it always felt different. And it was always because of some weird little thing that made the person unique.
There was this girl I used to hang out with — she had a pet bat. She was kinda crazy and super weird, but honestly, it was a fun time. I really liked her. But after a while, I started to see how unstable she was, so I backed off.
A few months later, she ended up in a psych ward in my city. I actually found out from a post she made on social media, complaining about the food there.

>If you don't mind me asking, how did it mess everything up?
Story starts with the me, a friend, and the girl. We've all shared a mutual friendship for around a year up to this point, and around the last 3 or so months of that friendship I developed feelings for the girl. Presumably around the same time my friend did as well, leading to a love triangle.
The existence of this triangle never really occurred to either of us, until one day during a tf2 match I brought up the topic of relationships and asked if he had an interest in anyone. He mentioned our mutual friend and then we both lamented the situation.
I knew that at this point it was basically over, as my friend had me completely beat in terms of appeal. It's not even that I was particularly unattractive/antisocial/weak etc, but that my friend was lightyears ahead of anything I could have been good at. Him being older than me wanting to date a high schooler doesn't help...
Realizing this was kinda the breaking point for me cause I was already dealing with a soykaf school and worse home life. The culmination of all this came when my mom came into my room screaming about something (probably grades), and after she finished yelling I told her I feel like she doesn't love me. Hearing this she accused me of having satan reside in my brain.
After that my mom kicked me out the house and sent me to live with my dads friend in the hood. Spent a couple weeks there eating nothing but granola bars and nutella, sobbing uncontrollably everyday and lurking here. I talked with my friend during this time, so I thank him for that.
When I returned home, me and my friend wanted to reconcile asap since it'd be a shame to lose that friendship over some girl. He suggested I take acid, which is where it turns from pretty bad to borderline unsalvageable.
Desperate to cure my depression and return the friendship back to normal, I accept his offer to send me LSD. The resulting trip from the 2 tabs I took could be it's own post, so I'll just give highlights:
>Start trip at friends house
>Family drives up to friends house demanding to take me on family trip
>Entire trip from entering the car to it's end feels like the mental experience of being raped
>Piss in a bottle while standing in front of a rhino at a zoo
>Sister has a breakdown in front of me, words come out slurred because I'm high as fuarrrk
>Play basketball while laughing to myself like a maniac in front of family
>Performed Islamic prayer in reverse order while in row with other muslims
>Cause a sister to burst into tears when I enter the car and she realized I'm high
>Go on racist tirade about black muslims only coming to the mosque for free fried chicken
>Everything I touch/feel/think/taste forces the mental feeling of being raped on me
>Strong involuntary muscle contractions throughout
>Feel like I'm gonna piss myself the entire time
The entire ordeal lasts 8 hours and takes me to the mosque, the zoo, an amusement park, and then back home
When I come back home, I'm still on the comedown, so I start screaming at my friend through voice messages and send him texts threatening to maim and rape him in retaliation for what the acid did to me.
Eventually we (regrettably?) make up, but some of brainworms from the acid trip lingered for well over a year after. I'd think about being raped and the concept of rape constantly for hours on end from seemingly random triggers.
It's been around 2 years since then, and I've (mostly) recovered from it. Before I'd be thinking nonstop about rape with the mental pain inflicted being severe enough to leave me bedridden. Now I'm only experiencing the minor annoyance of the thoughts once every couple hours. I'll heal.
Hopefully that answers your question. Never touching acid (or any other drug for that matter) ever again. And I'm definitely not looking for any love that doesn't come to me first.
>But unfortunately, I feel the same way. However, it's not something you can control. Love is a brain parasite.
Agreed. I don't really mind it. Still, don't see myself ever falling into it again. I've never felt any romantic love since these events, but hopefully I'm proven wrong.

Yeah, funny enough it was for a girl I only talked to for a very very short time, less than a week, I connected so well with her, even more so than other women I had long term relationships with. I think maybe I loved her, because we connected on a spiritual level far deeper than the surface level. I think the unseen spiritual realm guides people together based on vibrations.

I agree on something along the lines of this. With love, I don't think it has to be just brain chemicals. There's more to it, and it's strange, mysterious, and beautiful. When I first met my partner, there was a feeling like I had seen them in another world before -- a sense of familiarty although I had never met them. It was as if I could say, "It's been a long time, hasn't it?"

A couple of months back, I had a similar experience but on shrooms. A night that culminated on me pissing on a friend's couch and making a fool of myself.
Life's felt weird after this and it honestly was really hard for me to live it down. I know that's just the nature of substances, but the memories of that day still bother me and it makes me question myself.
How did you cope with the aftermath of all that, and does it at all impact you now? All I do is shrug this kind of thing off but the embarrassment still lingers.

I used to feel a disconnection with the idea of "love" until around a year ago when I met my now ex-gf. It took me a lot of time to decipher what that feeling was because I'd always struggled with my sexuality, now i know that I'm probably what tumblr would call "demisexual" but not "aromantic". I never felled sexual attraction to anyone but I fell in love at first sight with this girl. Dating her made me realize that I felt love a few times before but never realized it because I had't had an erection.
Nameless · 2025-08-15 07:27

The idea of demisexuality is idiotic. That's the correct way to do things - to befriend people over a long period of time, develop romantic interest, and then date. It gives you more time to vet people and watch for red flags. People can hide who they are for a long time. The longer and more thoroughly you vet someone, the better. I don't think you can truly "love" someone who you've only known for a short time. Love is cultivated by knowing someones flaws and accepting them despite that. You can not truly know someone who you've only just met. You can only have an idealized version of them in your mind. It takes a long time to properly know someone. The slower you go, the better. It gives you more time to build a proper foundation to a relationship - to put in the roots.

To preface I'm religious and spiritual. Imo life's simple and the complicated part is remembering that. Even if you're not religious things like "ask and ye shall receive" can still exist in your worldview when re-framed as "law of attraction". I just find it easier from the christian perspective. To ask god, or the highest self, whatever you phrase whatever's above us as, to bring your true love into your life in a way that makes it unmistakable and easy to obtain, and then let the work be done for you by spirit, is incredibly easy. If you need a physical ritual just do the letter method. Fill out a physical, paper letter to god, spirit, source consciousness, whatever.
"Dear god, thank you for your help so far in my life. Please provide to me my true love. The one meant for me in every way. Make it so they appear in my life easily and that they are unmistakably my true love. Make sure they have at least 38DD titties. Thank you, sincerely lainon"
Then fold it up and set it on fire. Destroy it however you can you can rip it up and flush it. The point is to just get it out into the world. I lucked into my partner naturally but to those who need help I provide this.

My boyfriend gives me the purest love I could ever want. He never placates me about my flaws but understands my shortcomings and tries to lift me up despite them. We're just satisfied with being in eachothers presence and giving eachother our time, i could spend hours just sitting next to him.
We used to be best friends from middleschool through highschool, I always crushed on him hard those years but he was so attractive I thought he didnt feel the same way. He left mid-semester due to family soykaf and we went and did our own thing for several years after graduating. In those years we remained friends but never hung out; he got married not long after and we just talked off and on. I never found a relationship of my own in that time, I couldn't get into hook-ups like most guys my age and was too scared to be with anybody else.
One day, years later, he hits me up out of the blue and asks if I want to hang. Every other time we tried to hang one of us flaked, but somehow I knew this was the one that mattered; if I didn't meet with him now I would lose him not just as my old crush but as my friend. I picked a chill little spot I knew near both of us. We met up and we just immediately started talking like it was the old days, not even skipping a beat. We talked and talked for hours, about everything and nothing. Pasts, presents and futures. He told me about his marriage and how he found out his husband had cheated on him and how he was basocally through with his marriage. We arranged another hang-out at his place the following evening.
This got really long winded so Im just gonna wrap this up. I can get into the apartment hang but thats up to you guys.
TL;DR once you know what kind of love you want, hold onto that soykaf. Idk

Would sound very insulting if she finds out, and most autists aren't this socially unaware. She's either going to get mad or awkwardly play along if she's more of a people pleaser.

Almost everyone that anons here described seems like a person I'd like to meet, how do you people even find them? I've only met 2 girls that weren't normal people so far, one of them wasn't my type and the second one went to soykaf since I was a coward.

Simply dumb luck. So, in order to finally stumble upon one of them, you have to simply go through a lot of life situations with different women and wait until you stumble upon one like that. That's just statistics. Maybe try the library. Try to make yourself get a kick out of your own fear to become braver. Than fumble it and be tortured by your own regret for all eternity. Then try to fix it but it turns out she died of suicide cancer aids and be tortured by even more regret for another eternity.

don't think about how to do it. just do what you love and obtain enjoyment from that. if you can't do something without the ulterior motive of locking in a sex partner, then you don't deserve happiness

as an autistic woman. this would not work on me, if you phrased it like that. you should instead say something like "I have an idea for you" and then pose it as a new game and not the thing you had already asked for. also, instead of declaring yourself ~dating status~ you should instead just go on a date or two and see how it goes.

We have gone on what others have described as about a dozen "dates" but she just calls them friendly outings. ffs, who goes on a "friendly outing" to a candlelit dinner at like 8 at night before you walk her home?
I don't think this would be so frustrating if she didn't insist that we are literally not going on dates, we even hold hands. I don't want to be rude or mean, but you can imagine how annoying it is to basically be in a relationship and have to pretend like it isn't real, which is the opposite of most peoples problems. I know she isn't in a rush to have sex, and neither am in this case because we have the same views on modesty and relationships, but it's awkward trying to explain to outsiders that we are not dating, like middle schoolers who are embarrassed to be seen hanging out with the opposite sex. She said some of her friends even refer to me as "her man."

what does it mean to be dating ? what does it mean to be a G/BF? A lot of the time I see people using these terms it means living together, sleeping with eachother, etc etc. What you two are doing sounds like its technically dating but its on the mildest edge of what people nowadays mean when they say 'dating'.

Liberal society has made it really hard to define a couple, there are people who live together because of economic reasons and there are people who are into hookups, there are also people who marry for citizenships or for legal matters (usually regarding offspring). I know that some of these are rare occurrences but it'd be stupid to label 2 married individuals who don't feel anything towards each other "a couple". My definition of a couple is purely 2 people who prefer to be regarded as ones G/BF.

>Once, when accompanying his master to ado, Ryotetsu asked Saburozaemon, “What have you understood of homosexuality?” Saburozaemon replied, “It is something both pleasant and unpleasant.” Ryotetsu was pleased and said, “You have taken great pains for some time to be able to say such a thing.” Some years later there was a person who asked Saburozae's men the meaning of the above. He replied, “To lay down one’s life for another is the basic principle of homosexuality. If it is not so, it becomes a matter of shame. However, then you have nothing left to lay down for your master. It is therefore understood to be something both pleasant and unpleasant.”
tldr: It ain't gay if it's for the sake of your homies

I entered high school after I had broken up with another girl when I saw my new classmate. Damn she was beautiful and interesting to talk to. I just liked whiling away with her either in chat or at school, or just being there. My egocentric ass rarely had the feeling someone's smarter than me, but she was just the case.
I think I loved her to the point of obsessity, I was pestering her so much she could'n bare it. Although we were never official, she kinda liked me back, we were breaking and making up again till graduation. Now we're both at same uni but never talking.
I will never forget the Christmas when she asked me if i meet her at her home, she was drunk and lonely and my ass was far away from city at my folks' place.
Also I had that one childhood friend which I "loved as a sister". I tried to propose her to my another friend, that almost worked, but now she lives in Turkey banging with natives cuz why fuarrrking not, they deify russian women.

Met in high school. For 3 weeks it kinda kept going before she told me it was too fast for her. That was the only time so far I felt a reciprocated connection so far, yet at the same time, I was being completely fake. Made up an extroverted, neurotypical persona just to "fit in", but I wasn't able to keep that up either.
Just be yourself?

Another advice, stop complaining and be happy that everything went like it went in your life, for example you wouldn't see a person you love today, if you've met another person before. Makes sense, the whole life you love would be miserable for you if something went differently.

how old are you and how old are they?
this happened all the time to me in middle school back in 2011. i imagine its a timeless hobby

I think I always love someone the most after we breakup; I think I'm more in love with the idea of them that exists in my head than the real them...

IGNORE HER it's a very dangerous game, and a fine line to walk, but absolutely do not give her too much attention; have you ever been fishing? You don't just yank on the line and start reeling it in as soon as you feel a nibble...it's a strange game, an odd dance, this mating ritual of ours.
On the other hand, play it too cool and she'll lose interest and go elsewhere lmao it ain't easy, anon.
>>47514
Where? Why? How old are you? If someone has touched you in a funny way, especially if it's on your funny place, you should tell a parent immediately.

Lol we're both at university. It was just some very weird handholding. Also she has a boyfriend

depends on what kinda fish you are goin for.
Good, honest fish like trout on a spinner, you do literally just yank and reel once they bite, because they bite hard and fight like crazy. No time to play stupid games with a good, honest fish.
By contrast, you can play fiddlesticks with a muck-eating bottom-feeding lard-ass carp all day long-- but who wants to eat THAT?
Yes, this translates directly to women.

All I can say as someone encroaching on 40 and still single...
Don't get too hung up on the soykaf you see in movies or on social media. Don't compare yourself to others. There's no such thing as "the one" or a "soul mate". Find someone who you obviously find attractive, accept their flaws and past (to an extent, never settle or ditch your own morals as that will bite you down the road). Above all find someone who will meet you halfway, who puts in effort, who shows interest and shares common interests and goals. Online dating gets a bad wrap (it can suck don't get me wrong) but allows you to weed out people with dissimilar values and interests. That said don't be afraid to meet people in public, at events, meetups, shows, bars, etc. Sometimes all it takes is overhearing a conversation and making a witty or silly remark to get a chuckle out of them. If you need some good advice on approaching women in public and boosting self confidence read or listen to "Dating Sucks but You Don't", author is a bit cringe at times but offers fantastic advice.
Above all else, DON'T date out of desperation or loneliness. Jerk off, work on yourself, never rely on having a relationship for happiness or you will face a lifetime of misery. Don't put yourself into a drama movie or emo mindset. Also realize everyone comes from their own soykaf and no one is out to tear your heart out. But focus on you first. Yes that means physical and mental well being. If you can't spend an entire weekend by yourself without feeling lonely then you need to address that first. Find comfort in your own company and THEN you can pursue a romantic interest.
Best of luck to any and all in this thread.
