ive been watching noir and utena lately with my friends. my favorite character in noir is probably mireille , her complex feelings about kirika and their partnership make her really compelling. kirika's character is good too though, i don't think its played out that shes an autistic, amnesiac assassin given the contexts shes in. it feels like the whole show is layered with abrupt subtlety that make it really compelling. My favorite character from Utena is Juri Arisugawa even though shes straight all of her inner conflicts and everything makes sense as a lesbian. i also like her character design a lot, she is very beautiful

I don't watch anime anymore. My favorite character is me succeeding in all of my goals having addressed the root causes for my various coping strategies.

Watching Re:zero. I like Emilia because she's a perfect woman. Also Beatrice but I can't quite verbalize why >>43457 Godspeed lainon

>>43532 I *do* watch anime but in light moderation. Anime culture is cancer though (yes I am aware this is lainchan).

I've tried watching anime multiple times but most of the time I end up being cringed out, everything seems over-the-top and corny. The only animes that I've enjoyed so far were Soul Eater (it still had some corniness that made me push my chair back but it was tolerable) and SEL.

>>43534 yall forget your history. several of the original mods, including kalyx, saw imageboard culture as deeply cancerous and deleted it indulgently in protest. same reason why there was never porn, ban on politics, and why /feels/ kept getting deleted and coming back. personally i love anime and think the obsessive hatred of it is stupid. its very cargo cult-y, the real problem isnt that people watch anime, its the alienation theyre experiencing outside of the anime

i just saw the original ghost in the shell again. lots of titties, very cool. i think there was some philosophy in it, but it's agonizingly dated. it's the existential techno variety actual children can comprehend. as a certified american and fake weeb, i cannot remember japanese names for soykaf, but i liked the dude who repeatedly covered the lady with his jacket when she stripped down for thermoptic camouflage. seemed like a cool dude.

>>43536 it's been a while, but i remember Ergo Proxy being pretty tolerable. the first couple episodes are pretty corny thanks to being pilot episodes, but once you get to the point the producers stopped looking at what the writers were up to, it gets fun. they discovered western gnostic mysticism and hard pivoted the regurgitated bladerunner-esque bleh to a philosophical wasteland adventure. it gets very strange towards the end in a good(?) way. they use Radiohead - Paranoid Android as the outro and Monoral - Kiri for the intro. i don't know if thats a plus for you but it definitely is for me.

>>43544 Ah, I remember people saying that it was fairly similar to SEL and Texhnolyze? The plot seems pretty fun, I'll give it a try, thanks lainon :D

>>43540 I'm pretty new here actually. Why would you start an imageboard if you hate imageboard culture?
Lady Jessica · 2024-12-27 18:10
>>43547 because its a good format even if its full of cancerous goontards
