4chan is broken
Lord Nikon · 2024-08-26 12:49
4chan.org has not only been a giant, slow mess the past few months, with some boards loading webms extremely slowly, but it's now completely broken. You can't see any images, and posting is not possible.
Honestly, I get the impression they're trying to get a lot of changes done behind the scenes. A while back, the domain briefly redirected to "zip.4channel.org" when you tried accessing the sfw version of the site, before that domain was outright gone and "4channel.org" started to lead to "4chan.org"
What do you think they are up to? What could be behind all the recent changes?

4 channel for the blue boards is definitively a commercial issue. Some clients don't want their adds to be on NFSW boards.
Hiroshimoot hasn't innovated in years, we need a gelbooru that save every picture posted.
I miss wallbase.

After the Silverstring relevant gag order on the 5guyBurgersN'Fries debacle revolving around mootle's gender transition to a /sp/ortsbro, coupled with the modleaks surrounding law enforcement owning Random moderation completely, it's no stretch to assume the same wing of the government that utilized SomethingAwful's CP+money laundering ring through EVE to fund the civil uprising against Ghadaffi could be pulling an even more surgical cultural operation in relation to the November election; Silverstring targeted(and likely created) MAGA from it's inception, and secured a UN contract for media dissemination seemingly specifically for their successful action against polnigger extremists, corralling them into Exodus unto hatechan, and getting them all to believe it was their decision to leave, like cattle having opinions about Border Collies.
Within months it was stated on the floor of the UN, "Fullchan is the command center for hate on the internet."
Less nuanced: Cloudflare has begun rolling out a "scraping subscription" fee that bots can pay to gather relevant AI training material, and they might be testing it on 4chan because they can't possibly make soykaf stink worse.
Silverstring employees who mention gamergate are just mad there are people who still remember the infinitesimal details of how they created the problem they pretended to rally against, the inception of MAGA, the creation of the Trump crowd, and the entire context leading up to the US November election. I respect their work, to be honest, because it worked, but that anyone can still comment to their failures at the time is indicative that they aren't good enough. Sloppy. Very sloppy people. Propaganda used to be a respected field for intellectuals, Silverstring had to hire a prostitute just to cover up their mistakes. Very bad. Makes you wonder if they're being set up as a fall guy for people who're actually good at their job, lmao. Just look at this infantile rebellious crap.

Hate it or not but untamed weaponized autism and unrestrained open discourse is too much of an incalculable variable to be left alone so it had to be soykaftified and neutered. Same reason this site is getting CP spam.

It's rare for any discussion to occur on image boards to get that deep. I see more in depth discussions in forums at least in the past anyway. Text boards may get to that same level though.

Have you noticed the 1PBTID threads with a clickbait question? It's like 75% of the threads.
At some point, you have to accept that money is spent to prevent meaningful discussions to happen, on the chans and everywhere else.
At some point, you have to wonder who pay, and why.
Frank Garza · 2024-10-28 17:58

I can't recall the last time I actually saw a "meaningful" discussion on 4chan lmao.
Even back then, around 2007, every thread was polluted by people wanting to be funny or just completely insane.
And no one was being paid to post on 4chan back then.
I don't know why you all think a big conspiracy is happening there, 4chan is even more polluted by morons after seeing the site being portrayed as a cesspool of trolls/insane people on the medias and want to be as edgy as possible or think getting a ton of replies to their clickbaity thread will get them an influencer status like they are posting on twitter.
It's time to accept the death of 4chan, it died many years ago, more than a decade ago actually, because everything a bit great tend to become a self-parody once it gets too popular.
That's why we post on alt-chans.

The site made a email verification system affecting some boards due to a problem with spam, which is one of the reasons the imageboard's been broken.
/q/ had a thread there, sadly it got deleted but hopefully I bought it up again.

Of course, "spam" is always the best excuse.
4chan is dead, and the email thing was the final blow.

This happened on 13 April 2024 due to scam posts when we know it's a site known for not needing an email/account to use. It's an antithetical system like the login/auth blocks in a similar vein.
However, from what I read, premium users would not need email verification and as such can bypass this easily; it's just anon users without an email were limited.

4chan today is practically deanonymized, meaning 90%+ of poster identity can probably be tied to a real life person. Cloudflare, mandatory JS, no VPN, no Tor, requires glow email. Fed into crap like PRISM or Palantir's systems.
"Age your cookie for 15 minutes before posting" rule rolling out to more and more boards because "spam". Not sure of the real purpose, pro spammers will not sit around waiting, they'll have these cookies in a pipeline ready to go from multiple IPs.
What's all the cockblock filtering for, when on /g/ the content is just awful. Stupid thread starters that could in theory lead to quality or at least entertaining threads, but generally the comments are as shallow and dumb as the OP. A good post is something like 1 in 1000. No content quality moderation, anything tangentially tech goes.
1) Google search tier tech support questions.
2) Low effort posts of this caliber:
- "does battlemage even exist ?" https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/103154122/
- Elon Musk pic, "/ourboy/ is getting political lately" https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/103154040/
- ">he boughted a G502" https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/103152413/
- "i have way too many pcs" with unrelated pepe https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/103154824/
3) Permanent generals, fine but could have their own section or board:
- Tech workers
- Local models
- AI chatbot
- DALL-E
- Windows
- GNU/Linux
- PC building
- Private trackers
- Chink soykaf
- Headphones
- in-ear monitor
- mpv
4) Language wars, CPU wars, GPU wars, OS wars, web browser wars, based on sentiment.
5) Tech flavored current meaningless happening threads. Lazy screencap or repost of Reddit, Twitter, Discord, GitHub, Hacker News, news site.
6) Constant Linux, open-source disillusionment threads, maybe to push proprietary products or plain old trolling:
- "distrohopping, ISHYGDDT, Why not just upgrade to macOS?" https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/103152588/
- "Movie night with friends", embarrassed because Linux can't play movie, "Should I just cave and get a M4 MBP?" https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/103152588/
- "100% FOSS modern web browsers are a pipe dream", "just use Chromium" https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/103154108/
- Alternative frontends, proxies like Invidious or Nitter bad https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/103153066/

I haven't used the site at all, just alternate imageboards that followed the same format, some tying into specific themes and named after them like this one.
Also my anti-virus blocked as much accessibility on the imageboard.
>>43060
>"Age your cookie for 15 minutes before posting" rule rolling out to more and more boards because "spam". Not sure of the real purpose...
This looks similar to the email verification system this imageboard used.
>>43041
>You can't even pay for a riseup account, so making it invite only is unfair.
Premium/pass users on the imageboard would not need email verification and as such can bypass this easily, as the email's tied into their pass account.
I read about it via a now-deleted /q/ thread about the email verification system affecting some boards. Due to a problem with spam, imageboard staff written how this was going to work: https://archived.moe/biz/thread/58388587

I got "warned" on there for relaying an anecdote about doctors glossing over side effects of certain medical treatments because I was "breeding denialism." Then I got redirected to their "derezzed" screen and had to read a warning about not posting NSFW content (I hadn't), before I could post again. It's definitely not the free thinking outpost of the internet it claims to be. You don't see a diverse range of threads because they get deleted.
