What Should I Eat for Breakfast?

Hong, Guil Dong · 2024-07-07 16:24
I recently moved from Europe to the US (Georgia) two months ago, and I'm struggling to figure out what to eat for breakfast here. In Europe, my breakfasts were pretty balanced and healthy, but I’m finding it challenging to maintain that here without falling into the trap of sugary cereals and pastries. I don't want to ruin my health with overly sugary foods, and I don't have the time to cook eggs every morning. Do you have any suggestions for quick, healthy breakfast options that I can incorporate into my routine?

>>41710 Bread, also make some boiled eggs the night before or on the weekend so you can eat them cold when you wake up. Throw in some yogurt or chocolate milk. Oatmeal is also widely available in the US of A. pair it with a banana or some other fruit. Otherwise, just get freezer waffles.

Could try overnight oats. Equal parts oats and milk left in a bowl the night before so the oats soak up the milk. Chia seeds, fruits, berries, nootropics added as individual prefence dictates. Or homemade granola bars.

Sourdough bread toasted with avocado mash on it seasoned with pepper, salt, garlic, poppy sees (or chia seeds) and sesame seeds (or flax seeds) with hard boiled egg slices on it. Eggs can be hard boiled and kept in the fridge after cooked to be used later. A lot of people eat it cold but I think it is better warmed In the microwave a few seconds. Muesli is pretty good. It is a type of less oatmeal you can eat cold but it's good hot too. If you have a blender smoothies with fruit, sometimes veggies mixed in. There is some cereal that may be a bit better for you like Grape Nuts but they are a bit hard to eat from how hard they are unless you get the flakes which get soggy. It's also common of some people to eat grapefruit as part breakfast but keep in mind it interacts with medication and some people are allergic to grapefruit. I quite like the bitter taste, you can cut the bitter with salt instead of sugar if it bothers you. Just make sure you use Celtic sea salt not processed salt and get enough potassium in your diet, Americans are malnourished in potassium often. Keep in mind a lot of stuff in the US has ingredients derezzed in the EU so check ingredients of commonly derezzed ones.

>>41715 eu food also has stuff derezzed in amurkkkwa personally I'd just suggest fried eggs, bacon, maybe some toast or fried potatos on the side, fresh tomatos or other fruits if they're in season. If you don't have time for this then you're doing it wrong, but if I have to suggest something then just a half pound of ground beef or whatever is cheap.

>>41716 Such as? Point is the FDA in the US I'd trust less since the major food industries are part of it.

>>41716 I heard food in Australia is family-farmed and excellent.

>>41719 If you want something done by smaller groups rather than big corporations you want to go to the farmers market.

Whole-grain toast, sprinkle a little cheese on it and microwave it a few seconds, top it with salsa or picante sauce and something green like kale or whatever you like. Delicious. Also, not all cold cereals are sugary or unhealthy. Plain unsweetened cheerios, shredded wheat, raisin bran, corn flakes are ok.

>>41710 Mix the following in a big bowl: 60% rolled oats (NOT instant oatmeal) 20% dried fruit 20% nuts/seeds Pour it into 1qt + mason jars. Put it on the shelf. When hungry: Add some of it to a bowl. Add milk. Eat. Enjoy. It also works with yogurt instead of milk, but yogurt costs more. You can also slice fruit into it (bananas are easy, strawberries are fancy).

>>41710 I mostly just have orange juice for breakfast. Working from home, just sucking on that like a hummingbird all day. Coffee, milk, as well. Only such things until like 6pm where I have some substantial protein and fat as well.
