Enjoying the setup more than the activity itself

Buying a bicycle, setting up cyberpunk edc wallet and backpack with common soykaf, cleaning up desk, buying new computer, setting up and ricing said computer... I find the act of hoarding and setting these things up so that they can be useful more enjoyable than making use of the thing itself. I've seen people mentioning this kind of tendency before, is there a name for this? Why are we like this?(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf.)

>>41599 you might notice the same thing with previous generations and ford f-150 trucks. it's called playing pretend, and it's fun. my guess would be there's some quirk in our instinct to mimic those we respect getting glitched out by digital entertainment. you've probably seen it, guys who like action movies develop a sudden interest in fitness and sometimes weapons, old dudes who saw a lot of truck ads, and probably had a dad who actually used a truck, insist on not hauling a damn thing with their own pickup truck, and you probably saw Bladerunner or Lain, thus, you came here to an obscure internet imageboard. note: i have no feminine examples, because i don't understand women. sorry. feel free to point out a few.
