As people have diminished, the value of altchans and other online spaces is basically degenerating to something resembling law of the jungle. Or something extremely arbitrary. Here again, I get into an argument with a particular moderator and instead of deleting our "off topic" posts as he usually does, he/it simply deletes the entire thread. It wasn't even my thread, and yet it seems that a mod got pissed off and punished everyone that bothered to invest (waste) their energy in that thread. http://web.archive.org/web/20240526065950/https://lainchan.org/r/res/36937.html This is the archived version. The only missing post I'm aware of is my dismissive reply noting that they are very clever, I paused and could *almost* hear the laugh track after their epic zinger. Wake up up today, as expected, thread is greyed out in my thread watcher. Of course it is. That's what people do, that's certainly what lainchan does, but at this point it's pretty much every chan. Arbitrary, unseen hidden movers, opaque basis for motivation behind the scenes. The exact manifestation of these drives differs slightly across sites, but the core logic does not.

yeah thats funny. seemed like a decent thread idk
Vasya Pupkin · 2024-05-26 10:35
Looked like a decent thread. Why are mods like this? Gay that is.
Unnamed · 2024-05-26 10:43
>>41017 I've come to believe they simply can't help it. It's baked into the whole concept of being a mod. After a certain point their rampant and unchecked homosexual nature becomes fairly apparent, and once seen, cannot be so easily unseen. It's also possible that simply being a mod makes them gradually become gay. Very gay. Through processes and forces which are little fault of their own, but nonetheless, the result is the same. Relative gayness of the mods compared to the general userbase.
HELIOS · 2024-05-26 10:50
Usually I would dismiss these posts as schizo or just generally chimping out over nothing but that does seem like a good thread. I hope the mods could do some introspection here
Spooky · 2024-05-26 10:53
Mods are pretty good for taking it down imo. That thread wasn't decent by any measure except the retarded one. Discussion was stalled and people just proceeded to munch the same dung over and over again, soykafting it, and munching all over again. That is, mostly discussing some unrelated bullshit that only existed in their head. That kind of thread does not make sense actually. Was it all for nothing? Bring in facts that testify the results and fuarrrk off, there's nothing to discuss without ending up like a poltard - munching dung. Mods are not gay. It's you who need to grow up.

>>41020 You're the guy I was talking to at the end. You're probably also the mod who deleted it. inb4 404 (again).
Pris · 2024-05-26 11:20
Yeah, I don't think it's very fair to delete the whole thread just because two people were soykafting in each other's mouth. And to both of you: don't feed the troll, whoever you think that is
The Phantom Phreak · 2024-05-26 11:24
>>41024 Well its kinda true that if thread turns into garbage soykaf flinging it drags the site down.
Batou · 2024-05-26 11:27
>>41021 I am not a mod, you just have bot mentality which dictates that whoever disagrees with you, if he just happens to have the same disposition as mods, is mod himself. Grow up. >>41024 Try moderating a site. Maybe they should have just locked it though.
Haruyoshi · 2024-05-26 11:30
>>41025 You lack discernment. I started talking about soykaf like determining people location and movement in a building by the infrasound produced by dirty electricity (transients and harmonics fed back into the grid by nonlinear loads like switching power supplies and eg LED lights, which also produce a lot of RF) that causes them to vibrate. And means of picking up and monitoring sounds in an environment by looking at interference patterns formed in ELF infrasound. Another thing you can talk about is heterodyning. Stuff like using IR to monitoring vibrating materials (like a bag of chips in that famous example) to listen in, is old. Moscow signal, etc. Bam, you don't need a microphone in a networked device for surveillance, nor is you being monitored "opt in". Guy comes in calling me retarded in that very particular way. Thread disappears shortly after. Huh. Makes you think, now don't it.

>>41026 You're just mad because I called you a biobot and you know I'm right. Going to just default to child psychology here and say "ur jus gellous!!!!" Cuz it's adequate, does the job. Whatever dude. >I am not a mod >Try moderating a site. lol >Maybe they should have just locked it though. Well, it's something. This is the sort of means reflection the modern world will thoroughly deny a person, making them worse for it. It is designed to do this because cognitive sinks are well understood and reduce humans to replaceable parts, well characterized and predictable discrete units to shove into markov chains or some other modeling.

>>41028 please stop posting you need to cool your butt down a bit
Marly Krushkhova · 2024-05-26 12:31
>>41029 Your mom or something dude how aabout that one, got em

The derailed thread is long gone but the fight between the schizo and the troon continues. A minute of silence for the casualties of this war.

>>>/q/ I'm starting to think these concern troll threads are just done by feds because we've done such a great job at stopping their cp spam. Plenty of people have said we're doing great with our moderation. I didn't delete the thread and I don't know why it was deleted, but I want to point something out: I can probably infer why the thread was deleted and I can infer it using this thread as an example: >Rule 6. Do not whine and cry about 8chan, lainchan.jp, "quality", "invasions", "new users", mods, bans, or kalyx outside of /q/. >posts this thread in /r/ about a mod decision It's like people who do drugs/drink alcohol 24/7 and wonder why their life is like kicking dead whales down the beach. And that's all I'm going to say about it. If you wanna complain about me, I'm kashire btw.
Koos van der Merwe · 2024-05-26 13:36
>>41031 might as well nuke this one, something tells me the fight isn't gonna stop and there's no telling if i or somebody else won't be in mood to throw in some fuel any time later. but maybe mods actually get some lulz, but to me this has got pretty miserable, no idea why they keep it alive.
Random · 2024-05-26 14:19
>>41031 I am never leaving this imageboard.
Special Agent Bob · 2024-05-26 15:12
>>41032 i think deleting last posts makes more sense. Given: 1. thread existed for long time 2. thread gets deleted over last messages If recent messages are a concern just delete recent messages, otherwise anyone can abuse the system to delete threads by intentionally brewing soykaf
Marly Krushkhova · 2024-05-26 16:00
>>41035 Yeah that's an attack vector to stifle good but uncomfortable discussions to some. Similar to down vote bombing on places like reddit. And one reason I prefer image boards is to get away from exactly that. It would've been better to delete the disrupting posts only rather than the thread but that takes a bit more work. But it's an option to lock the thread temporarily while sorting things out and letting the flame war die off. And removing posts that are not actually saying anything but are just an insult and can be condensed to "ur wrong and dumb" without saying why if the mods want to keep up the "image" of this board so direly and avoid these squabbles that are usually just two individuals needing to preserve their personal egos with maybe a couple others chiming in once or twice. This shouldn't lead to mods flipping the entire table over.
