Anon trolling

Had anybody trolled you on an imageboard that it made you break down? If so, had anybody derezzed them? Here's my story; link is tvch.moe/ch3/res/5815.html. I was the OP of this thread and I wanted people to help tackle a growing problem regarding https://lainchan.org/inter/res/7636.html#q7641 during the time Lainchan was broken (refer to /q/). I made the thread on /ch3/, beginning with my own comments and a couple of links that I wanted taken down. Soon enough, a couple of anons realized what I was talking about, to which I responded, "...it's spread in popularity that nowhere seems to be safe on the internet." Everything was great until what started out as a protest thread became a target for defensive trolling. An anon kept throwing out insulting comments - all caps, red bold text - on the thread. These comments included "Lair 4 always wins", "the cyber police are on Lair 4's side", "Lair 4 lovers, strong", "OP will always lose", among others to the point they were defending such content and attacking me with comments that hurt my mental health. I reported every comment they written for trolling. I was in a total meltdown that caused me to be emotionally distant. The anon kept going on at me even though I explained back to them, that it's affected childhoods and isn't safe for life. Due to how they offended me, I wanted the anon gone from /ch3/, if not all of tvch, the thread locked, and causing me to leave the site for around a month. The thread wasn't locked, and this troll continued to raise hell, killing my protest thread throughout. Quitting was the only mature step to take as they shattered it to pieces to the point I wanted it deleted. This anon had caused me genuine pain. That's about it, from me. Had anybody been impacted by imageboard trolls in the past, or just now? What are your opinions?(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf. Also Do not spam or advertise unrelated content.)

CW/spoilers: offensive trolling in attached image Yep, it's a long read. This anon had caused me mental illness and I reported every defensive comment they had written for trolling. You can see the post number that started it all, and I made a copypasta post consisting of offending insults that they thrown at me, calling me a liar and a coward, saying that "Lair 4 content always wins/is still winning/can never be defeated, etc." and I was fuming because it's completley NSFL stuff. I argued with this user, but they kept tearing my sanity apart by throwing more insults. I made a thread on /dunk/ (the site's off-topic board) to help users on tvch.moe combat this menace, since there was no help, questions and suggestions board, but nobody was there to help, posting randomness as they normally do. Going back, I wanted other people to help get this anon off tvch while wanting Lair 4 content removed left and right. They came back with another post about "agents being sent to my house and reported terrible things" - another reason why I found this anon TERRIFYING. This guy was like stalking me, but this happened: I thought "cool story, bro", but they said I "continued to do nothing because I knew Lair 4 content is strong and invincible". I was utterly enraged. I rallied back that Lair 4 content is not strong and invincible, and they were dead wrong to believe it is. The anon was a heretic. I wanted tvch.moe mods to lock the thread and I wanted the thread deleted, but to no avail. Since that, I have not touched on this protest thread ever again. There is a must for stopping people tolerating things I don't like at all. This anon killed it by bullying me, trolling me, believing that Lair 4 content keeps winning against me, and saying I was a "cry baby tranny" to the point I broke down mentally. I could never take it anymore with them. The user should've been derezzed from tvch.moe. Since those reports, I wanted mods to permaban the troll while their posts got deleted, one by one. Hugs always wins though; go and comfort me while you can.

Dude getting trolled is like kicking dead whales down the beach and all but I swear i have seen you complaining about this in other threads for the past few weeks, maybe even months, at this point. Just let it rest and move on with your life

I have a very important story to tell you, OP There was a thing called the 00s internet, which was big enough for people to chat live, post on forums, use early and well know imageboards, and have tremendous amounts of fun. However it was not yet big and accessible enough for old people, small children and people who were to inept or to uninformed to use technology. Neither was it for the average CEO, manager, many politicians, and other spineless corporate creatures. This meant that everyone present was mature enough, human enough, informed enough, and not too senile yet to understand that the internet is not reality, the things posted and said on the internet are not real, and aren't to be taken seriously. The next decade brought social media where grandparents, politicians and managers could all hang out, and parents who wanted their kids to be occupied by video games so they can chill (but preferably have the children be safe). This created a majority to support the false notion that the internet is serious and stuff on it is real. This is still not the case, it simply does not reflect reality - but people can cause a lot of drama and ruckus based on false beliefs and illusions just fine, and they do. If I went to the streets and started burning things or shooting because I read something on the internet, that doesn't make the content on the internet serious, it makes me immature, in need of parental or psychiatric care. You are right in that quitting was a mature option. The idea of "not safe for life" however is not, we're talking about words and colorful pixels on a screen. Content is not dangerous. A mature adult can watch a horror movie, read a lovecraftian book, listen to a propaganda speech and not be harmed by it, nor be "unsafe" because of its existence. If you believe you know content as such, maybe contemplate and tackle internal issues you might have that stop you from looking at it and both thinking and feeling that "it's not real, it's not serious". I feel like neither you, nor the troll you're talking about has that sort of maturity, which is something I do not blame you for - a whole generation grew up like that, mostly because it was profitable to some, while previous generations came unequipped altogether. I hope you can work on this perspective, it is also helpful in dealing with people in public or at any sort of workplace.

Swatting isnt bullying, but bullying is only possible because of the implied threat of violence lurking over an interaction. Anyone in the store, or at your work or school, could kill you, if they wanted and had half a brain, and because of that their words and interactions with you carry some weight. The possibility of SWATs on some sites makes the words of the people you interact with carry a similar gravitas, that on a place like this we just don't have. I can say things to you that actually make you want to kill me, but you have pretty much zero way to do it, and I have pretty much zero way to follow you if you just turn off the screen, or even assume a new persona in the same thread.

Trolling is asymmetric where most of the energy is expended by the victim. It may feel like they're obsessing over you and pouring tons of energy into riling you up because it's a big energy drain on you, but they're likely doing nothing more than taking 30 seconds to post something they have no real emotional attachment to at all and forget about it a few seconds later. Social ostracization is a threat which doesn't need violence. Spreading a rumor that damages someone's reputation enough that they're ostracized is bullying, even if nobody hits them. this is a nightmare of a thread. to OP, i used to be soykaf scared of Lavender Town Syndrome. it, and that other creepypasta with snow on mt silver unlocked a soykafshow of mental illness inside me. the fear and unexplainable rage was so intense i passed out the first time i felt it. but, now, i'm fine. i don't give a soykaf some dude in middle school set the homepage for all the browsers in the computer lab to a mp3 of the original song, and the nightmares don't cause me to enter another dimension of mental pain. i want to say unplug from the internet and get outside, but i didn't get better that way. i got better by tempering my mind. i went headfirst into every neurotic trigger that caused me psychotic rage and self-destruction over and over until i learned how to take back control. i decided i would rather blow my brains out than let fear, anger and neurotic delusions control me another decade, and it's a good thing i didn't have a gun. i should tell you it never goes away. i still see things and i still can't shake the feeling of someone hovering behind me at all times. the only thing that changed is how i feel about losing my mind: i don't care, because i know i can pick it back up, and if the demons in the walls, the shadow on my back and the voices in my head could actually hurt me or those around me, they would have done so already.

Most of this thread went off the rails so I'm trying to make it stable. One time somebody told me about 4ch 'trolls' when they weren't. But I had been asking to all of you "had anybody trolled/harassed you on an imageboard that it made you break down, and if so, had anybody dealt with them?" a lot. Hopefully this will make the thread better, and what's been said is done. In short, I want others to share their experiences here. Hope you all have a great day and take care ;)

Just going to bump this thread. If you experienced trolling and harassment on imageboards I'm always here for answers and opinions.

Officially the worst active thread on the site.

I keep seeing this thread resurfacing for a year now and each time I believe more that any of the trolling was probably justified and wish for OP to finally go and touch some grass. Let's hope the sage posts reach the bump limit eventually since mods clearly only care about removing the good and interesting threads.

Hopefully this is something I won't update in the future as I'm working on other threads; this was actually a public outcry for those but nobody interacted with me about this topic for any content/media within imageboards.
