I discovered imageboard for the first time. I've been around for a while and I want to say this. You guys are very cool people and this is the best community I have ever seen. I have questions. >Is this green text used for quotes? Can you tell me about lainchan and arisuchan's old times? I have been interested in computers and hacking since my childhood, but I have never done anything big until now. I have python codes that don't work, a terrible website for hobby made with chatgpt and a little bit linux knowledge. I'm not good in anything. How can I be a cool guy like you? I want to hack for a great cause. such as doxxing politicians. Maybe I'm talking a little childish, but you get the idea. I want to do something with other hackers out there, being part of a community.

>>40232 >Is this green text used for quotes? Lurk moar >Can you tell me about lainchan and arisuchan's old times? Same thing as now. was probably more popular before the split. Please read the rules carefully and don't kill threads needlessly, or try to plan some kind of criminal activities. You can be part of the community by contributing constructively, not asking how to be muh h4xor. Also join the webring if you have a site.

>neurosuggesting greentext is used for quotes Sup, my nigga. As an other user of this board for images suggested, you should use the website's own "lurk" function. This can be accessed by pressing Alt+F4 and deleting system32 from your Windows machine. Have fun!

Then upload a picture of yourself and your real (Matrix) name so we know who to look for when we get there. you won't need it anymore because we're going to Neo you. only we won't call you Neo since that one got taken (by Neo). we'll call you Miho like your post. Now post pictures (front and back) of all your credit cards. this is for a $1 charge we'll reverse immediately since cloudfare went down and our captcha service isn't working. This will help you. Try to set yourself increasingly complex challenges and projects, that's how you'll learn. Also try making your site without chatgpt, it's not that hard. And if you're not already doing it, try hosting it on a cheap vps so that you can understand how it works and how to expose things on the web. >I want to hack for a great cause. such as doxxing politicians. >>40232 >doxxing politicians Don't worry, they are already doing it themselves lmao :D Sound's like you are new to the whole hobby and that's 100% fine. Keep working on your projects. On that websites of yours and so on. I program out of needs and wants. I wanted to learn how to host a minecraft server so I learned how to do it securely and how networks work. How some attacks happen. How to clean up after i stop hosting the server. I wanted to make a custom home page for my browser on my phone/pc so I learned HTML and CSS. Touched a bit on JS for some cute effects i homebrewed on my own. I wanted to revive/reuse my 3DS so I learned about homebrew and CFWs and got a surface level of understanding of how it all works. "Hacker" is a much wider term than what you see in media. It's about taking control of your own machines. Tinkering and building and contributing to and for an open-source space of knowledge and resources free to the public. Pressed on time as i'm writing this and idk what else to add. welcome to lainchan and stuff have. questions rel to the chan its goes in /q/, for tech, programming, DIY, sec, in their respective QnA threads. >>40232 >Can you tell me about lainchan and arisuchan's old times? ArisuChan was similar I would say, although it had a lot more variety in boards. the archive still holds a lot of interesting threads to read through, use this https://legacy.arisuchan.jp/psy/catalog.html to find some of the other boards. That link features more links to other archived boards than just navigating through the archives startpage. I don't remember all of the boards anymore, but this list features some boards I liked a lot, like /x/, /feels/, /cyb/. I also seem to remember there was a trap board or something, although that doesn't seem to have been archived, it was a weird but very diverse place. It generally felt as if there was more going on on the site compared to lainchan, although it's been so long, that that might have just been an illusion or nostalgia playing a trick on me. There seems to exist a telegram group for maintaining the archive, so you could try joining that if you want more info.

arisuchan.jp is forever the true lainchan, this is just an usurper that displaced the real lainchan, but it can never be as good as the original, who moved to the new domain arisuchan.jp, which shall be forever remembered as the last bastion of true lainchanness.

>>40262 Good luck on the CTFs >>40274 >better design They didn't even create a fork. They just lifted the same CSS we made and everything. You know what Lainchan has never done since Kalyx handed over the domain? Begged for, and stolen, money from lainons. >>40280 The admin of arisuchan created a rift to siphon money from various people and made up a bunch of nonsense about several staff members. One of them pretty much turned a bunch of arisuchan users, specifically the russian users, into paypigs.

>>40281 Hey, you seem to know a lot about the whole matter. Do you care to clean up some things for me? I am still unsure how ArisuChan ended in the last days. So I remember there was the owner called "Seph" I think or something, who at some point a lot of people on the site spammed and called a tranny in a lot of threads. Was that related to the money stealing or was that something else? At some point there also seemed to be a bunch of technical issues and at some point the site was handed over to Kalyx to fix stuff? Was it Kalyx that decided to close down ArisuChan in the end or who is responsible for that? I have never been that involved to know a lot of the goings on about who made what and who owns what. I remember taking a break for a long time and coming back to what seemed like a clusterfuck and soon enough it was gone.
Bob Arctor · 2024-04-05 12:28
>>40284 Seph was the arisuchan admin, a she, though I'm not sure whether she was male or female. (S)he couldn't keep up the work of administering a board, and neither had the money to pay the hosting, the site managed to stay up with donations, always tight on the moni, but it was the pressure that eventually got to 'her.'
Nguoi La · 2024-04-05 22:12
>>40284 I used to have a screenshot of the final message which was like "fuarrrk it I give up" before the site went down. I vaguely remember the whole feud starting because lainchan went down that's a whole other story about Kalyx deleting the site for the lulz, and then someone made all the links here redirect to .jp which really made the user experience here terrible.
Pulse · 2024-04-05 22:41
>>40292 >>40284 arisuchan eventually deleted itself because of a transgender woman (not seph) posting in fashion threads enraged a particularly hateful CP poster, who flooded the site with CP beyond the ability for seph and her staff to keep up with. this was also during a time when it was not possible to allow torposting without image / file upload, which is implemented now, and seph principled in her own way wanted to allow for torposts. unfortunately the CP spam on every imageboard has only become more relentless, but there are fortunately many different websites implementing lainchan (this software: https://github.com/lainchan/lainchan ) with devs pushing changes to git in order to keep the spam down for all imageboards.
Lord Nikon · 2024-04-06 07:29
>>40293 I remember that now! Out of principle I didn't really use .jp so I didn't follow that whole fiasco when it died. I remember being frustrated how everything here would redirect, despite the web design being fancy there and a bunch of the userbase migrating. IIRC we also had links to other chans here like sushigirls
Batou · 2024-04-06 10:29
>>40292 iirc the events went something like this: >appleman took off the links at the top In order to "preserve quality" he removed all the links to the boards so that only old users could navigate the site now. It was regarded a bad move and it didn't take long to put the links back >the links were hijacked Partly as a response to this blunder on the part of appleman, a few mods (Seph, probably) made all the links point to lainchan.jp, which afterwards changed it's name to arisuchan.jp because they didn't want to have TWO lainchans, and arisuchan.jp considered itself a sibling to lainchan and not really a replacement. Though it was partisan in nature. Kalyx encouraged the use of arisuchan instead of lainchan. >Kalyx wiped the site This wasn't really an active form of sabotage, it seems like some old creds remained with kalyz, who got some kind of notification and the dude said fuarrrk it, the apple has backups. Turned out he didn't. This is my recollection of the events as they took place.

This is false, but I don't really give it much thought unless someone brings it up. It really fuarrrked lainchan's community up, and it was done for selfish reasons (read: power tripper upset she wasn't getting her way immediately.) The fact that people who don't actually have any idea about what was going on at the time think they know better are likely just a bunch of retarded trolls trying to further ruin the community for various, likely selfish, reasons.

>>40380 Oh I fully agree. We can't just keep chasing the past. I just wanted to use the opportunity to clear up some of the gaps I had. Otherwise I'll just end up on another nostalgia fueled research of every website connected with the old ArisuChan to get answers at midnight. This is much easier. I always find it silly, when people want to just repeat internet communities or bring back old stuff, like every tenth guy having heard of systemspace wanting to bring it back. The only way to attract good people is to create something new, you cannot just try turning the clock back with these things. Communities must move forward and evolve.

It wasn't an internet death cult, I still have my account information saved somewhere. I agree though, all these kids wanting to back to web groups they weren't around for because of nostalgia. I hear the same about young people and Omegle which was a pointless dick watching simulator. Most online communities come and go, 8chan had some niche boards that were cozy, but after the new Zealand thing, the entire site changed for the worse, and people moved elsewhere.

Every little community is ruined as soon as normals and 4channers discover it. Before you know it, your little 90s anime fansite is overrun with race and trans baiting rightoids and self-righteous liberals who consume too much news media infotainment and are missionaries for their retarded narratives or outright bots. Start a thread on relationships and you can start out with productive discussion, but after a while it will descend into the same incel soykaf and bitching you see everywhere else. There will be someone trying to apply wolfpack terminology or dumb genetic theories, there will be that guy trying to racebait and derail the thread by whining about how all girls are trannies. Then you realize this happens a lot. Why? Because people today have become incapable of generating anything new or even thinking critically. All we do is spam and regurgitate the same disgusting bullshit over and over again. Human bots. We eat from the garbage can of ideology and vomit it right out. Whatever is creative and new gets smothered and choked out. We get fed narratives like "blacks are criminals" or "women only wants to fuarrrk ch*d" or "anyone who does this is racist/homophobe/asexualaphobe/misogynist" and once people are in these politicized echo chambers all they will ever do is spam the same soykaf. That's how ideology works. It has built in defense mechanisms for neutralizing any information that contradicts it. The only way is to screen people for the brain damage and never let them in. Imageboards are highly vulnerable to this mind virus. >>40417 I got molested on there but I was still upset it had to go down. >>40419 It's because you're talking but not testing things. The purpose of this kind of talking is usualy stimulation, and repeating the same lines is an efficient high ROI way of getting that. I kinda doubt any conversation is useful unless someone has something new to share- I think philosophy not seemingly improving is an example of this. Being a liberal or racist or incel or feminist would actually be very fun if we were testing things out and making phrenology computer vision together, or enjoying happy relationships built using feminist thought, and normal people are lovely to talk to when they're sharing the cool normal stuff they have experience and passion for, like auto racing or crafts- the bad stuff comes in when you're sitting around and there's no new data, just processing. I never used omegle and kept only to the most milquetoast ideas and sites in my childhood, didn't give a soykaf about the world, and achieved nothing.

>>40419 >The only way is to screen people for the brain damage and never let them in I don't know if this will work because a. You can't know if someone will become infected in the future b. We are all probably at least a little bit infected already even if we recognize it as a problem c. The people showing up in non-mainstream places are likely fleeing the infection, even if they are themselves very infected; maybe it would be more productive to channel that into resistance somehow I think rules 3 and 4 help some. Trying to keep things grounded helps; ideologyposting is all about pushing memes and slogans that encourage engagement through ambiguity with no personal experience/expertise requirement.

>>40422 Problem is cyberpunk's relationship with anarchism. How do you stop people sh*lling ideologies and narratives then? I guess that isn't so much an issue now this place is slowly turning into /g/ away from /g/ and filled with the retarded politics you'll find on that soykafhole of a board and somehow gets less cyberpunk by the year. I mean its good when people discuss politics and ideas in a civil and productive manner. But usually this results in poltards, stormniggers, and liberal fascists taking a crap all over the place and acting like they own it. Imageboards are a good entertainment medium but they're about as useful for serious discussion as social networks. >You can't know if someone will become infected in the future Anonymity makes this problem worse because you can never know a person and get familiar with them. If your a small underground club you get familiar with the patrons and kick out/avoid the troublemakers. Literally anyone can come here and slowly flood this place with propaganda and most of the users would never notice. >maybe it would be more productive to channel that into resistance somehow Psychotherapy/analysis thread? Some much of the damage is caused by people being spoon fed negativity and developing ressentiment thanks to soykafty life experiences. It makes us vulnerable to political propaganda and the media serving us things to hate as a release valve for our pent up frustration. Then we become vectors for this negativity spreading it wherever we go like plague carrying rats. We end up creating mutually reinforcing hives of negativity that only makes our neuroticism worse. People need to heal first.

If your a small underground club you get familiar with the patrons and kick out/avoid the troublemakers. Literally anyone can come here and slowly flood this place with propaganda and most of the users would never notice Maybe the issue lies in the persistency of communities itself, I had a stupid idea while on the toilet, so: what about randomly assembled randomly self deleting online communities, imagine it for a site, you throw users into forum/chat like structure together for a random amount of time (maybe a month, maybe less) They cannot talk to each other on that website outside of said randomly assembled structure. And you ofcourse don't tell the people about what the randomly decided lifespan of the community is, this time. Some absolutely garbage communities will be assembled in this ofcourse, but they will be only temporary. At the same time, this random process allows for a large array of experiences to be shared contrary to most algorithms which try to fit people together. There are chances that echo chambers will be created temporarily, but there is just aswell the chance, that moronic behaviour will be punished inside a community, there is no ability to raid or to flood communities except by doing the infiltration work required for 10 communities in parallel without really being able to direct against anything effectively. This might cause infections to spread more rapidly, but it might also cause for most infections to die down due to additional experience sharing between people. And again, if a terrible community is created, wait a bit and it's gone, a person influenced by that, is now in a new community which possibly brings quite different ideas to the table. Ofcourse this might have been an idea 10 years ago, today with quite advanced chatbots, this might turn into a lonely nightmare of thinking you are interacting with real people while just talking to a language model.

>>40428 Reminds me of the whole game theory idea that people need to not know the time of the last game so they don't just defect all the way, which I found interesting. Still seems a little off to me idk. I think the problem here is that echo chambers are a good thing! We hear about the bad ones, but the scientific method, and the kinds of thoughts which result in success and good health are also self reinforcing memes which need echo chambers of their own. To be thrown in with others randomly, you can only talk about the lowest common denominator, which means there's not much of a direction you can go. Echo chambers are bad when you're wrong, but they're amazingly powerful when you're right, and can then work together on your shared idea. Private chat groups already allow vetting, modularity, and focus. It's just it would be nice if there were an easier way for people to find their group.
Hagbard Celine · 2024-04-22 16:30
>>40433 You mean the game theory about scorpions? I think you misunderstand about the concept of echo chambers. An idea should not be reinforced, but stand the test of counter-argumentation. If you say to me the sky is brown and everyone echoes that point, then we are operating in the realm of reinforcement, not actual scientific testing. Scientific testing would be you saying the sky is blue and I say "prove it glitterboy" and then you prove that the sky is not not blue, and someone else proves it is not brown, and someone else proves that it is not green, and we move closer to the concept that maybe, it is in fact blue. There is a reason that scientific communities took so long to progress when the answers were literally in front of them the whole time. An echo chamber is also referred to in some communities as a "Circle-Jerk" I will let you figure that one out A shared mental image for goal setting and vetted working groups is not an echo chamber, but a community. I have some very technical examples of your so-called "Positive echo chambers" that are pretty funny, but I would dox myself. the tl:dr is a group of technical experts had a plan, and they reinforced their ideas until it got to the point they thought their plan was flawless, and then someone else joined the group and said "but how would you get people to follow along if they have a hard enough time using the existing system." In the end, it was a counterargument that required them to work with a null hypothesis rather than the assumption of a foolproof plan.
Spike Spiegel · 2024-04-25 07:41
>>40428 I'm not gonna dismiss it. Sounds like an interesting idea but remember people want community and we seek out and need long term relationships, even anonymous ones. If community becomes fleeting then people will be less likely to make meaningful contributions and more likely to soykafpost, flame, and troll. Its also a lot harder to make OC if there isn't a community to sustain it. There would be no unique language, no memes, no collabs, no in jokes only the oldheads get. >>40433 There's a difference between a community reinforcing a meaningful value system and echochamber where the same messages and ideas are looped and constantly reverberating off the walls. There's no real dialogue. Nothing goes anywhere. People just say the exact same things over and over again and kneejerk react to stuff. You couldn't have a thread like this on a /p0l/ board.
Junichi Fujiwara · 2024-04-26 22:56
>>40454 >There would be no unique language, no memes, no collabs, no in jokes only the oldheads get. Good point, I forgot that we can't really increase the pace of let's call it cultural development by essentially instituting a project crunch but for communities. Another idea that came into my head inresponse would be the designing of an algorithm that deletes a community once it has reached it's zenith and maturity in that sense, once it creates nothing new and is just regurgitation of the old. This could be achieved by tracking the usage and development of language. Issue is ofcourse that that will just aswell again have the incentive to optimize the cultural development in communities leading to a similar issue as an artist on social media, who is making themselfs mad with chasing the next artwork that will be a hit. And if you make it depenend on a continious advancement and development, there might be some that will be blamed in the end once a community gets deleted, even though that is ofcourse just the natural course of life for a community.

>>40454 I think the core difference between a group which repeats useful norms and an ‘echo chamber’ is that many useless and wrong norms preclude innovation and interaction with the real world, since this reveals their falsehood. This results in an ‘echo chamber’ because things can’t continue, there are only so many things you can say. I think this lack of diversity is still a symptom rather than the disease. You can have somewhere diverse which is still a bad influence, it’s just in the end stage of life denial, all other reality must be denied. Really, Nietche’s view of christianity is a good example. If you really really believe that there is a good outside of man, all the of the world must be rejected, and if so, you end up fasting on a pillar- anything else is accepting the world and its influence.
