As a Lainchan and Anon Cafe user I want to inform Lainons that are not uware that Anon Cafe has announced closing on 15 March.
>See: https://anon.cafe/meta/res/16466.html
So make sure to check the boards you enjoy there to have more information on the place they'll move.
Good bye Anon Cafe, that place was nice.

Maybe it's just me, but all these anon.cafe, zzzchan etc. in this webring never felt truly genuine to me. I guess I'm looking for some old imageboard magic, but lurking on these I never felt it. One of the things that irks me is how lousy the moderation feels. People can talk about their discord cliques and post tiktokshit without getting banhammered to oblivion. It just feels like there's only new users everywhere now.

Hoping some folks out there are working on archiving their boards!

That's how it goes for most new imageboards I guess. I personally haven't ventured and lurked enough in new imageboards that popped up, so I can't vouch for the quality of the discussions/mods in these times. I know a site that specifically forbids the mention of that kind of talk lainon mentions and wants to focus on a more early 2ch aesthetic and topics. banning miss use of greentext even. The old imageboard experience is still sought by others fortunately.
the /ent/ and /retro/ boards on anon cafe felt like a nicely moderated experiences imo but I barely went at these places enough to get a proper feel.

Everyone on 8chan was really anti-new user for a long time and it bit them in the ass when the spaghetti got spilled in 19. And a lot of the small boards with almost no activity were repo boards of stuff people were saving.
Then the webring got spammed by schizos and pedophiles during it's infancy shaking the boards up further, julay dropped the small boards so they've had to move everywhere. /fascist/ gave up and is over 4 different sites now, and a lot of the meme boards are just dead because the axis they spun around just isn't there anymore. Mark tried jewing everyone over integration which split off more people.
Basically once gamergate and 2016 went away, the mass shooting bulletin stochasticism board in 2019 was the next big thing and that got shut down hard. So now everything else is fumes. Nothing pulls people in to the webring unless they're fed up with 4chan and want to integrate to very obscure culture they won't fully break in to because they just weren't there ten years ago.

Didn't mention it directly because I don't want to distract the thread, but I'm taking about Heyuri. I browse the lounge and sw boards at least once every few days. comfy soykafpost grounds

Has anyone archived the place yet? Kind of sad to see smaller communities shut down left and right, even if they're practically dead.

RIP /cyber/ wish i had more time to post

It's over. The site has been reduced to archival obscurity. All the messages, thoughts, opinions, and other expressions of its userbase are now only stored half-assedly on places like wayback machine.

I've noticed the lackluster level of the newer boards as well. Way back in 2018 at least. I don't know what it is, but the discussions are rarely "involved". It's just nothing but one dumb, unfunny soykafpost with zero substance after the next, "discussions" which can be reduced to people calling each other turds for no apparent reason, or then it's z**mers emptying their phone gallery. It really doesn't surprise me how short-lived imageboards have become if that's the current standard.
