meh christmas
The Phantom Phreak · 2023-12-24 15:44
not having a good christmas this year.
im not comfortable around people, so the gatherings are unbearable for me. im just hungry sitting in my room, waiting for everyone to go away or go to sleep so i can eat something. if i cant, im okay with not eating today. maybe ill order pizza or something tomorrow and enjoy it on my own.
dont have any friends to wish me merry christmas or vise versa, ran out of weed too so cant smoke to make myself feel better.
the whole presents stuff hasnt been fun either.
i wish it wasnt so revolving around consumerism. people just buy random soykaf off amazon for other people to emptily thank them for and throw away a week later.
i wish i could enjoy christmas like normal people.
hopefully things are going okay for you anons. merry christmas guys

so true, but I think it is very possible to gift useful and/or fun things, for example books or Lego
Merry Christmas Lain!! I am your friend.

Merry christmas teary eyes. Stop being a scrooge and love life. Not because you have the best life, or the easiest life, or the most pleasurable life, but because you were picked to be alive. What are the chances? But no, go on forsaking your own miracle of existence, if you really think the identity of existence is a cancerous existence.

>do you really need to smoke weed to be happy?
>do you really need to feel inadequate in front of your own flesh and blood?
>do you really need to make yourself a shell of a person?
>do you really need us to soften the blow of the reality of your existence?

The only reason that its about consumerism is because the world chooses to consume garbage. Consumerism isnt as revolting when what you consume is pure and healthy and catalyses your course of evolution. Get it fuarrrking right, good in, good out, bad in, bad out. For christmas this year I only got and gave what can help myself and help other to evolve. Whether it cost a trillion bux or was something I gave for free matters not, what form it came in matters not, what matter is virtue exchanged and the result of that exchange. To give and receive is the miracle of life, but it only becomes apparent when what you give and receive is of a highly potent virtue.

>sits in room, brooding about consumerism and not having drugs at hand while the threat of proximity to yuck people blocks your path to the bathroom and the fridge with the leftovers and soda
Well gee, no wonder you're miserable and have to come here to vent. Like dude, I'm not the most social person either but even I could in that situation just shower, put on clean clothes and sit at the table with parents, room mates, people they've invited or whatever to just have a meal with them, listening to their conversations without saying much or anything at all, you don't need to be an entertainer, you can even just copy other people's reactions if you're that socially inept. You think you'll mess up somehow? Just bother about basic hygiene for one day of the year and don't sperg out. If you just do the aforementioned things, nobody will care and it'll be fine. If the spotlight moves on you, just answer questions in a polite but closed ended way. That way who ever's inquiring usually uses interest and moves to the next person. Just go in with a pleasant or at least neutral attitude or mood so you don't radiate animosity and chances are you'll even find a crumb of enjoyment. And once you had enough, just excuse yourself, again politely that you're tired and go back to your room where you'd had been otherwise seething inside for the same couple hours.
And even if you don't like the topics or they trigger you, suppress your urges to "correct them", practice patience and just sit along. Really the point is just people socialising. The contents of those conversations usually don't really matter, it's often just to demonstrate group cohesion.
And it's easy to fault capitalism or whatever and granted, some people really go overboard and turn it into a competition, but that's always a problem. But other than that I do like that aspect. Kids get their one day where they can get their friggin Nintendo 64 or other expensive soykaf while the adults really just appreciate the gesture. And hey, I could use a new pair of socks! You know, just so people can show their consideration to each other. But I'm also not in Burgerland so this stuff isn't as absolutely mental here.
As far as I can tell, you're being your own obstacle here towards having a pleasant eve.
Merry Christmas to you and other social cripples this may help.

God bless you. fuarrrk this satanic soykaf show of modernity. Do not get mad about it and stamp your feet and gnash your teeth, literally just fuarrrk it and remember that the future of humanity as a whole is the dehumanization of humanity as a whole. Do not get sad about it and cry your tears, just remember that what we really are is eternal energy and imperishable matter (the salt hidden within the ashes of a person) and that one day everyone will be reduced to the reality of existence and no longer be able to keep up the charade.

The more I think about it the more I presume that your embarassed to be around others because you may have been living in a transgender loli/shota goon cave for several years already and its not easy to face your family under such circumstances, especially since you live with them, and they know.
Agent Jones · 2023-12-24 20:41
There's a lot wrong with Christmas. Most of it is in its vapidity. I don't blame you for feeling this way (unlike others have) and I don't think you're entirely in the wrong for not wanting to participate, since a major part of what feels off about it is in the social pressure and the expectations others put on you as they do themselves. Like you needed a day as an excuse to make a cute gesture, like this didn't signify how hypocritical the idea is.
That said I still think you should gather the courage to make some greetings and not starve yourself. Feel free to be open with your ideas if you want to be combative. Otherwise just pretend nothing's wrong, like every person has their own way of celebrating this godawful day and you're just doing that in your own terms. I won't wish you a merry Christmas because I believe you should be merry every day of the year, but keep this in mind: fuarrrk other people. Don't blind yourself with your walls, but always keep watch of how fuarrrked up humanity really is.

You do not seem to realize that Old Pee clearly does this 24/7 365, but on Christmas its just the hardest to face their own self hatred and feelings of inadequacy. Old Pee isnt just uncomfortable being around others, they are uncomfortable being around themselves, and this Christmas they were forced to do so "without weed".

Came here to basically say this. I'll never understand people who feel a need to act like they are so much more self aware then others. I hope for their parents sake as I'm assuming hoping OP is an angsty teenager that they get some actual self awareness and just learn to have fun.

I hope so too fren. More likely its a 32 year old man who lives around the corner from me stuck in the form of a miku doll he projected his consciousness onto several years ago and has been stuck in his room like that ever since. The same one who introduced me to this website actually.

Alright, you got me, I concede! the world is unfair and cruel! Puppies die! Medical professionals are actually killing instead of healing us out of financial incentives! And plenty of people and customs are also dumb and gay! Your enlightened cynicism opened my eyes at last. Do you feel happy and reassured in your college age wisdom, now that your words have changed my ways for ~~good~~ worse.
My previous message and advice was aimed at a person who's so reluctant to make a once in a year exception to spend a little of their time with relatives or room mates that they prefer to endure hunger, probably would steep as far as to fill empty MntDew bottles with their urine if they had to and get completely baked out of their senses so they don't have to endure the ick that they have with that particular holiday. Even though you don't need to gift anything to anyone. It's just that it's a socially accepted time to do so and to show that you care about another person. Obviously it doesn't mean you're restricted to that on this day only so you're free to mail order random crap off Amazon to people's houses all year round. But for many people it's nice to have that "social glue" to meet up and exchange gifts and greetings at least once every earth's revolution around the sun. Now it's true that the marketing machine prays on this holiday like on everything that is potentially profitable just like there's always going to be parasites in nature but usually if you bake a cake, write some greeting cards, give small consumable or always in need items and sweets and/or watch the Charlie Brown Christmas Special together (which also tells you that it's not about getting random stuff you'll put in the garbage later) and generally just try to have a pleasant and festive time together then most likely that's going to be just fine. And if not, then just give the person some cash as a present.
In short, while there's plenty of misery in circumstance, at some point it's more on you for making yourself feel terrible. Nor is there anything profound in doing so since nobody cares really if you're boycotting Christmas or what ever. But they may appreciate it if you join them, be it just to make them happy. You know, life's too short to be a sour grape, that's all I'm trying to tell you.

i just got done from visiting my family for christmas. it sucked. i hate traveling. but you gotta do it. ever since i turned 18, the holidays have been a period of prolonged, extreme stress.
you know what? i feel like you lainons, everyone who feels compelled to browse this site, you're my real family. not based on genes, but on spirit. we will probably never meet, but we're still connected. you wouldn't have ever visited this site if we weren't similar on some spiritual level. so i say this, with all the love i can muster: i hope you had a good year. i hope next year is good for you, too. i don't know what's in store for us in the future, but we're all cut from the same cloth. we'll make it through somehow. when i read the posts on this forum, i sense a deep, righteously indignant desire for happiness. i know that you'll keep fighting for that happiness, no matter what impossible challenges the world presents to you.
or maybe i don't know anything. i'm very drunk right now. this cheap sushi tastes pretty good. everything tastes sweeter when you're drunk. i love you, and lain loves you. i'll be with you in the new year, and you'll be with me. no matter what happens, i hope you don't feel like you're alone. can you promise me that, at least? take care, lain.

Merry Christmas lainanon. Hopefully the new year will treat you better :)
>the whole presents stuff hasnt been fun either.
We basically just agreed to the fact that we are meeting because we mostly enjoy each others company.
We basically don't gift each other anymore.
Although it always takes a hercules task of trying to convince people that not gifting anything is fine. Consumerism is heavily engrained in people.
>i wish i could enjoy christmas like normal people.
Yeah I get it, sometimes during the family gathering everything just feels like soykaf, the lights are just blinding and the tongue goes numb until one just stares into one direction waiting for it to be over.

Tequila · 2023-12-25 04:49
I'm alone on Christmas as usual. I prefer it this way. I hate big gatherings of people and just avoid them. It's nicer to be alone all by yourself than a loner in a crowd. Christmas is strange to me. It feels so fake. Fake emotions, fake cheer, fake spirit, cheap plastic goods, buying junk.

I hate Christmas gatherings too, so what I do is just visit the family members I like between holidays, but very explicitly not for any Christmas-related events.
I think for me the important part is having control over IF, WHEN and WHO am I seeing. When I was teenager living with my mum, it was always her decision, and it stressed me.
So, if you don't like Christmas at home, simply fuark off, whether it means moving out, or just spending the end of year in cottage in mountains.
I also forced the deal on my family to not give me any gifts and not expect any in return, which makes the consumerism non issue for me. (Admittedly, some family members (i. e. mum) weren't very happy about this, and it was pretty mean struggle.)
After making these arrangements, the Christmas is pretty comfy for me, but it took some effort.

It is oddly specific, also the way Old Pee described "meh" Christmas is the exact kind of thing old "teary eyes" would have said. Also hes gotten so bad he normally is too agoraphobic/self loathing to even go on lain chan anymore (yes its that bad, such severe self hatred and inadequate he wont even look at photos of people or watch videos of people anymore, let alone look himself in the mirror or make eye contact with anyone ever, generally can not even look in other peoples direction even) which is why I suspect that since he was "stuck in his room without weed for christmas" he might have bucked up and come on here for a change.
Sabo Engle · 2023-12-25 08:47
merry christmas everybody, OP included. Maybe consider laying off the weed and trying to fix things with your family a little bit!

seconding this, at the very least with the weed. i think you'd be surprised how clear your head can get after a week sober, but stay hydrated. weed withdrawal is real, and it can make you pretty pissy.

How so? I'm not the one who prefers hunger pains and crying about it on an anime girl worshiping forum over making a once a year exception to wash myself and spend a few hours with relatives. And while I'm aware I shouldn't reply to bait posts and "no u"s but I'm also tired of people not being able to realize the absurdity of their proposition and have to keep doubling down out of an emotional reason. Just reflect and carry on.
Either way, I hope you managed to get your head out of your arse this holidays and some advice here helped you to be slightly less miserable. Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
