Work and sleep
Boris Grishenko · 2023-10-10 23:55
Right now, I have a mountain of things to do and correct to set things in the right path. But I need to know, how far into lacking in sleep does it become dangerous? Caffeine is the main thing to stay woke now. How long have you all worked without sleep before it had dangerous effects?

After about 4 days you'll start having problems.

Personally worked for 2 nights in a row, once. Only side effect was feeling much more sluggish and slow. I don't use stimulants like caffeine so if it works for you, you'll be fine.
I imagine if you turn that into a habit it could become problematic, though.

4 days is almost impossible, 2-3 days is more plausible

You can't stay awake more than 1-2 days. My mental health starts to deteriorate after just 24 hours.

It just doesnt fuxking work to miss sleep, ever. Maybe in some extreme cases… I feel like the better question to ask is „have you guys tried maximizing your productivity during the day, then sleeping”? And if yes, how did you manage to do it. Stimulants? But how much and how often and then: did it work, was it worth it?
Let me begin: I work 10 hours 7 days. modafinil or amphetamine (but not meth) just once a week. green tea, coffee, alcar on other days. Nac to regenerate.
Is it worth it: well I feel ok. But i am wondering/afraid whether my personality is being affected here. I am kind of worried how much of my natural passion and drive I am trading with this soykaf. How bad is it and how sustainable is it? Because i would not like to cross some kind of a line.
I mean, if I live up to 68 instead of 90 it is not so bad perhaps? But on the other hand if I develop panic attacks and general anxiety in a few years and lose the drive, it is totally not worth it…
Yeah, so share your experiences..
Get away with no sleeping bullshit though… it is retarded to even think of losing sleep while you can simply get high during the day

My time during the day is always interrupted and I need to stay up to flesh out a plan that solves that. (mostly just setting up different priorities to interfere with one another)
I have ADHD so I have to do something like block out a time to eat and include time to clean up so it fits in with everything but I'm literally staying up now to work on plans like that so I can get my days straight and productive

Be aware of the long term consequences.
One of the main reasons for sleeping is that your brain cleanses itself from toxic elements.
It will not be noticeable for decades, but Every time you skip sleeping 7 hours a night it accumulates more and more.
The main consequence is the increased risk of dementia, specifically Alzheimer's disease hitting you like a truck after 60.

If you really have to function on minimal sleep, there's the Overman Schedule, used by Marines and round the world yachtsman. You sleep four hours and two twenty minute naps.
There's also Yoga Nidra, "Corpse Yoga", which induces a hypnogogic state that lets you cram two hours of sleep into one.
Cold showers also wake you the fuarrrk up and bright lights activate your pineal gland.
But just try going without sleep at all and you will not be able to work, you can't concentrate, and you start nodding off.

Lacking sleep and REM stage of sleep is highly correlated with alzheimers and dementia in later stages of life.
Instead, how about trying other modes of sleeping, like biphasic or ubermensch sleep modes

Good point. Reminder that there's a good thread over at >>>/zzz/3810 about polyphasic sleep.
