what do you picture at the foremost when you process the word America? i think of blue skies with fighter jets blonde teenagers in bikinis crystalline water and waves the flag electric distortion guitars like a boston riff
Lady Jessica · 2023-08-14 14:32
>>37311 I think of 40 year old fat people with (several) credit cards on mobility scooters in Walmart using the newest iPhone to rewatch superbowl ads and scroll tiktok where they listen to a sped up distorted song totally abstracted away from any real meaning over a video of a fat black woman with too much makeup on drinking a non-fat mocha latte from starbucks while making a joke about airport security, which everyone laughs in response to. They then share that video with their friends and family. "Isn't that just like you, oh my god!" "You need to see this!" "This is literally me!" Oh yes. Call me cynical, but I think you would have a hard time disputing this image of American society being at least partly representational. Land of the fat, and home of the fatter. Come and see it for yourself.

>>37313 I can totally see your point, but would it kill you to liven up a little? Yeah, that is certainly a section of the population, but you can find terrible examples of people like that pretty much everywhere. What America has is mainly the fact we are a fairly high-trust society. I can go out and safely assume most people are not going to try and screw me over, I can trust that the government more or less works out in my favour, and that my tap water is usually clean. In many worse-off places you have to bribe officials to get anything done, crime is way more rampant, and overall city efforts like sanitation don't work as well. We aren't particularly unique for this, but we are much better off with it. Plus, is it that bad that we share things we like with the people we like? Do we have to add insightful commentary to everything we interact with? And the whole situation with airport security is kinda funny. Yeah, the place isn't perfect, a bunch of your points are totally flaws; but do you really need to be that disingenuous about it?
Just another Random Lainon · 2023-08-14 16:23
If we're just talking about the land and the people that live there then I imagine the cascades mountains, Alaskan volcanoes, and canyons. But I hate the US government and how it fuarrrked up my home country and killed many people. I imagine some picture of a rich wealthy Thomas Jefferson type guy standing over the poor, the blacks, and the Indians while sending their kids off to die to expand the frontier. America is like the new Rome but way way worse.

>>37311 - A few wealthy billionaires bribing government officials, everyone else barely scraping by while being gaslit into thinking they brought their proverty conditions on themselves. - Dominated by the interest of private corporations and interests that couldn't care less about its people, while bragging about how it's the "land of the free." - People slave away at horrible jobs that don't pay them well, sacrificing hundreds of hours a month to still barely be able to pay for rent or food, if at all. It's a land where you're "free" to be born due to a teenage pregnancy because the government think's the girl is "too immature" to have an abortion, and you're "free" to die right after birth with no one giving a fuarrrk about your wellbeing. You're "free" to avoid the hospital to get life-saving treatments because doing so is likely to financially destroy you. - A significant percentage of the population would rather inflict violence on anyone slightly different than them instead of being accepting of others. John Rain · 2023-08-15 18:18
>>37338 Yeah, this is something I try to get people to understand. In countless minds there can be found a certain impression that seems like it should be regarded as obvious nonsense. The concept of a significant number of people, very often half of the entire population of a country, which depicts them as absurdly simplistic beings whose raison d'etre and motivating force revolve around some categorical "hate". The reasons for the hatred are in turn oversimplified or even caricatured. A picture is painted of a single-minded shadow of a person, who has nothing better to do than to emphatically hate some demographic or other solely on the basis that they subscribe to some belief system which says the demographic is "wrong". Or, better yet, this parody-person is suggested to have no reason for their dedicated and impassioned hatred other than some vague fear of the unknown or unfamiliar, or of their own repressed desires or deep-down self-image or whatever. They have no needs or goals or motivations dictating the policies they endorse. If they oppose gay marriage, it is assumed to be exactly as simple is that -- they oppose gay marriage in and of itself, directly, because they hate gay people for being gay, which is wrong and terrible, and this is all the reason they need to dedicate huge chunks of their lives to making someone else's life harder. Never is it considered, for example, that perhaps the policy as seen by the people being so caricatured isn't about opposing gay marriage, but rather preserving the concept of marriage as they understand it and defending what they view as rooted in their faith from worldly encroachment. That such a policy happens to conflict with the goals of the gay population -- and I write this as one -- is never regarded as a coincidence, but as the objective itself. Now that I mention it, it starts to seem almost like an unwarranted sense of self-importance, to imagine that so many people have nothing better to do than to put all this effort into keeping up a political siege against some moral nemesis, or that they are all sadistic psychopaths who derive pleasure from the suffering of people they regard as lesser. It also strikes me as a curious echo of the histrionic "spiritual warfare" and perpetual martyrdom-seeking of fundamentalist/evangelical Christianity. But, I guess, to be quite realistic, it probably really reflects intellectual laziness -- but I think my way is more exciti-- aw sheeit

In fact there's plenty of historical precedent for what happens with useful fools once their use ran out. You let yourself get divided by overexaggerated or even false narratives and thus shepherded like cattle. Realize you may have very likely fell pray to some form of manufactured consent if your ideas aren't your own. They most likely aren't yours. And then reflect on your views and what common ground you can find with the people you currently (are made) to hate.

>>39183 >I see you have swallowed the nonsense whole and are deeply stuck in your bubble where main problem in the whole world is identified as this oddly specific set of midwestern or rural north americans of christian faith, my guess due to some conflict with your parents like I see it so often being the case with Atheist+(plus)LGBTQTM types. Either way, a poor standard to anchor your world view on, especially for us people on the other side of the pond who have been suffering the foreign policies of your country for decades. I have literally never went to America and i try hard to filter their bullshit politics. I am talking from pure Third world experience from Turkey. The only information i had in recent years about America and pedophilia was some state called Ohio legalised pedophilia in the name of fighting trannies competing in sport tournaments of children. I had to read about that because some turkish RW tard was confident trannies were the biggest issue ever because America was writing laws against them at such a pace. I wonder if you would learn anything from this or continue writing paragraphs of bullshit trying to kill a strawman.

>>39184 Fair enough, my apologies. So the bloke with the most mindless, libshit sounding post going on about muh right left wing dichotomy isn't actually from USA but from kebabstan. I guessed wrong and now stand corrected. Anyway what's even the system you guys have? Parliamentary or islamic theocracy where Erdogan is shouting praises to Allah every morning from the top of a minoret? Either systems being even more of an illusion about "your side" winning the next election. Neither do I have any knowledge of the conversations you had with other people that made you feel you need to go on here and have your outbursts. Nor does this matter or invalidate anything else I've stated. People squabbling about whether trannies or bible/quran thumpers are the greatest threat to civilization while it's evident that the quasi neo aristocracy of the aforementioned types is, who is sowing these divides and consequent wars on purpose, to keep fools like you or the people you argue with occupied and their efforts diverted. Just look into what those people believe. That people's movement and population needs to be controlled, china style. That there's too many people anyway. Especially of those who bring civilizaton and technological progress wherever they go because really you only need to be smart enough to operate the machines, not pose a problem. Our ruling class desires an obedient servant class or race and they don't mind putting you through hell to achieve that. All while those "covid lockdowns" demonstrated how far they've already managed to come. And if you fail to understand that the second time I'm explaining then they're also right about you. You're then nothing more but dumb cattle and it's tikkun olam.

>>39183 >Black power, white power, it's the same sentiment. Pretty much, but also "it's ok to be white" is a dog whistle used by white nationalists. >Nah, sorry to disappoint but "diversity" is for the purpose of causing more strive among the working class. Why do you think that would disappoint me? >And the ESG scores are just a codified representation of some of the kookie beliefs that our supposed betters hold, which includes things like malthusianism, weird esothericism including satanism, talmudic dogma and supremacism of the chosen tribe, to plain and simple megalomania and psychotic need to have control over other people's lives. It's a lot more sensible to explain them as politically correct gobbledygook that was created by corporate committees for the contradictory purposes of serving capital and creating social good. It's easy to imagine that your enemies have the brains of crocodiles, but that doesn't explain a lot of their actions. >but with private elitist schooling behind them that taught them how the world really works I'm pretty confident none of the people on top know how the world really works much more than a typical slightly informed person. They have power with no responsibility, and that's it.

>>37311 Fiery youthful culture. That's what defines America the most. We've been at the forefront of youth culture for over a century. Everyone watches American movies, plays American video games, and listens to American music.

>>39195 The cultural hegemony is a fact but if I asked you to say wich country is the most youthful, would you name America?
