sometimes i don't feel like going back to my appartent cuz its too lonely. I feel a better sense of presence in the streets, where im not exactly homeless but getting myself deliberatly lost.
Void · 2023-08-08 20:07
OOOOOh we bringan back the nightwalking thread? could make it a nightrider thread too I guess...
Faye Valentine · 2023-08-09 05:52
Aaaaaah. I remember passing my nights during high school just walking around town. During that time I only had a 3ds to put music on. Certainly odd, but comfy times. I haven't done one of those in a long while.
Tyrell Wellick · 2024-06-07 13:54
I should really do a nightwalk. Or nightbike even.
Apoc · 2024-06-07 14:15
i agree. more outside less inside
Spike Spiegel · 2024-06-07 15:16
>>37250 #nightwalkgang Do Lains like with or without music nightwalks? Does rain make it better or worse?
Shogun · 2024-06-07 15:29
>>41235 >music nae no music any music makes it worse >rain a little is gud, too much is not so gud
Terzibashjian · 2024-06-07 16:00
>Does rain make it better or worse? The rain isn't so unpleasant with a good raincoat, and it makes the city more silent. So definitelly better. The only problem is that it requires more motivation to dress up and go out.
The Phantom Phreak · 2024-06-07 17:58
>>41237 I keep a raincoat and a rain hat for those occasions. Being cozy in my jacket and boots while surrounded by the drip drop of puddles all around is the best.
Acid Burn · 2024-06-07 20:35
>>41235 No music I like to hear the sounds of the night city. Only if it's really light rain, I don't like getting soaked. I remember I used to get off work late at night and most of the time I'd choose to come back walking, it was a somewhat long (but not too long) walk, and I went through some interesting sites on my way home. I really liked that.
Delilah · 2024-06-07 21:51
is it safe where you live to go walking at night? I've lived in cities and neighborhoods where it is not recommended but I still went out past 2 am.
sage · 2024-06-08 01:39
>>41250 it isn't safe anywhere in the world
Batou · 2024-06-08 02:30
>>41235 I like music but walking after dark with earbuds makes me paranoid someone's going to come up behind me and attack me. In a way though, this makes me want enjoy it more somehow, some sort of adrenaline rush or something, I dunno. Do any lains have experiences with violent or creepy people on nightwalks they feel comfortable sharing? How did you handle it?
HELIOS · 2024-06-08 02:47
>>41250 >>41253 I've always felt the idea that "it isn't safe outside after dark" to be overblown. I regularly go out at night and never had any problem, just ignore drunk/shady people. Maybe it's worse for girls, idk.
Hitomi · 2024-06-08 03:15
can i suggest cna.neocities.org i am still waiting on more suggestions to add to the list.
藤原純一 · 2024-06-08 12:42
>>41250 i just avoid the downtown area and walk around the calmer neighbourhood near me. i’ve never felt unsafe, but maybe i should be a bit more concerned
Joe Bloggs · 2024-06-11 17:03
Why are you losers awake in the middle of the night? And walking, no less! I bet you are up to something creepy. Only creeps sleep during the day. Early morning jogger checking in.
Cereal Killer · 2024-06-13 05:13
>>41311 I walk around at night, because all the other monsters walk around at night, and that makes me feel at home.
Roy Batty · 2024-06-13 13:56
>>41230 if you're city isn't flat a nightbike is certainly worth the time. going up to a high vantage point, Or empty parking garages to get a view of the twinkling life below. An ideal smoking location.
Chan Siu Ming · 2024-06-29 14:19
if i try it in my country there is a high chance of getting robbed, still 8-10 PM walks are great, my city is basically an avenue so walking it is always nice
Dujour · 2024-06-30 11:10
>>41255 atleast make sure you have some sort of protection like a knife or gun, you never know when you might need it especially if it's dark. like the saying goes "better be safe then sorry"
Jet Black · 2024-06-30 15:57
>atleast make sure you have some sort of protection like a knife or gun pussy my dukes are all the protection i need
Unidentified · 2024-06-30 16:17
>>41609 have you ever gotten robbed ? I kinda think many places its impossible/widely perceived to be much more likely than it is. I'm not that intimidating physically, never really taken any precautions to avoid 'dangerous' places, go on long solo walks in various countries and strange cities and never had any issue what so ever
Tomohisa "Tom" Kanezaki · 2024-06-30 16:17
>>41612 pepperspray's more practical. it's more debilitating than a misplaced knife wound and far fewer legal hoops to jump through a gun, whether getting one or using it. i've never needed one myself. most of the homeless try their best to look good for handouts, and the hyper-aggressive coked out junkies are too busy screaming at their own shadows to accost anything real.
Zhora · 2024-06-30 20:59
>>41620 this is a silly post. Here is an interesting post: https://www.urbanfitandfearless.com/2016/09/self-defence-against-knife-attacks.html >most knife attacks initiated from ~3feet, victim unaware of knife before initiation of attack, >half of knife attacks over in 14 seconds or less, with a bit more than one stab per second for short attacks >Quite often, people don't realize they've been stabbed until they see blood. In some cases, bleeding can be mostly internal and thus hard to detect without proper examination. The classic gun defense 21 foot rule probably applies about the same to pepper spray (if you have it easily accessible), except pepper spray doesn't really do very much whereas a real weapon might. And at those ranges pepper spray is going to go over you as well as your foe. Maybe it doesn't matter though if you're both jacked up on adrenaline.
John Doe · 2024-06-30 21:37
>>41311 As a night walker, I am not a fan of you early morning joggers. Word of advice if you're out there before the sun comes up: don't run up behind people in the dark. Muggers and murderers run up behind people in darkness. Take a wide berth, and/or say something like "morning" or "on your left". Manners prevent accidents in the dark, silly lark. Some owls are the night watch.
Cutter · 2025-04-18 05:07
There is peace to be found in graveyards and churches at the crack of dawn, completely alone. I am not a believer in the afterlife, at least not in the form many religions claim exists, however I still find solace in such intimate moments, lighting a candle and watching the night sky. What lives have all these buried people lived? Who are they? Where are their families? By seeing the state of the grave, how clean it is or how many flowers and small trinkets there are left behind, one can make many assumptions. I often upload my findings on this website: https://www.findagrave.com/ It's a nice hobby. Makes you live.
Cat Mother · 2025-04-18 11:01
>>41620 I agree with the pepper spray. I conceal carry a gun, but I have pepper spray on me when I carry. You need to have something between 0 and 100. That can be mace, martial arts, professional negotiation tactics, but for most it should be mace.
Aristóteles Amadópulus · 2025-04-18 22:44
Walking around town at like 2, 3, 4 in the morning is one of those absolutely special things, where the world is just so silent and there's absolutely nobody else around. It almost feels like you've stepped into a different world, like you're somewhere you don't belong. Its really fuarrrking cool. Its also a really good time to think and be more in touch with the inner self and with the world, since you're pretty free of distractions in the dead of night. Of course the slight problem with that is because absolutely nobody sane is out at 3 in the morning, so you have to be more alert than usual to not get robbed. So, don't think too hard. I agree with >>41612 have a weapon, but I think you should keep mace or a handgun, not a knife. A knife is for getting the drop on someone, not defending yourself; loser in a knife fight dies on the street, winner of a knife fight dies in the hospital. But, again, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." and the best way to not get jumped is to be alert enough that Jamal or Cody the crackhead can't catch you by surprise, and be ready to pick up your pace and, if necessary, run if something's fishy. Ideally you won't run into anyone, but being careful never killed anybody. It might sound like a pussy thing to do but in the long run, in a confrontation you're a lot better off running the fuarrrk away than fighting it out, since like other Lainons have said, you're likely gonna get in trouble if you slug it out so in the long run,run like fuarrrk so you won't have to deal with the pigs. I almost forgot to mention how sometimes it won't be people, but it'll be wild animals you've gotta look out for. Usually coyotes. They actually do come into my town late in the night and stay even until the morning. My sister has an anecdote where, on her way to work (she did the opening shift at a Starbucks) like five coyotes were stalking her as she went. Wild animals I'd also advise avoiding a confrontation if you can, but unlike the 3 AM people you can try to scare them off (being loud, raising your arms, starting them down, ect) - whereas if you tried that with a 3 AM person they'd probably flip their soykaf. And as for >>41235 I would say no music for the above reason, and because having music playing in your ears doesn't quite let you get in tune with the world and your thoughts the way just walking around and taking it all in would normally do.

>>37247 love me some night walking. >>41235 no music. just the sound of the night. >>41311 >Why are you guys high IQ beings and not a retarded normal person slave like me?
