i want to talk about egirl fashion. i really enjoy the vibrant colors and creativity of egirl makeup. also i like the outfits that egirls wear because i like the designs and they look very comfy to wear. i like womens fashion because of the diversity in it unlike mens fashion which is very boring. i love to hear your opinions on womens fashion

A lot of egirl fashion seems to come from pop punk/ and emo/scene girl of the 2000s mixed with a generic "anime style" that comes from the mainstreaming of Gibli movies among normal girls in the West. I personally don't like it. It just feels like a lot of random stuff slapped together without concern for aesthetic consistency. Just like the whole hot topic scene girl thing, I get the feeling a lot of people dress like this because their posers trying way too hard to be different and the whole goal is to perform for an audience rather than being genuinely interested in something.

While I'm very, very far from disliking e-girl fashion, I do believe there are far more interesting fashion trends out there, old and new. Some of the more fun and creative styles out there in my opinion are certain 2000s Harajuku trends, and all kinds of goth fashion in general.
I do agree that contemporary women's fashion is far more diverse than men's. A pity, really.
Tyrell Wellick · 2023-07-13 16:39
I mean I could give a piece of my mind about it but >>36890 just kinda neatly summed it up. It's a mishmash of vaguely emo and anime styles considered 'retro cool' in an attempt to look quirky and interesting but lacks any sort of substance or greater culture behind it that just makes it tacky and kitschy. The whole "E-girl" scene just feels fake and evocative of the modern age where everything seems absolutely meaningless.
They're not even posers, they're just completely devoid of any culture and their entire personality is decided by "the algorithm."

I mean, unless you wanna go back to a period in time where men seriously wore hose, I'm fairly certain it's always been like that. It kinda is like kicking dead whales down the beach but what can you do?

>where men seriously wore hose
wasnt that long ago....
and what even are hose ? they're not what you think of when you think of tights, nylon being, after all a recent invention....

Hose are a men's garment that are essentially tight woolen stockings stretching from legs to feet, often accompanied by a prominent codpiece. They were not elastic like modern tights and were firmly laced to the doublet. (A snug fitting woolen jacket.) They were generally worn throughout the medieval ages and began to fall out of fashion around the late 16th century/early 17th century. So, essentially about 500-600 years ago, and that IS a long time ago unless you're a vampire or something. But I digress.

my sources on english dress depict men wearing some sorts of very tight leggings of some sort well into the 18th century and into the 19th, difficult to be certain their nature. Take this image of George IV, died 1830.
>vampire
please dont talk about this

Yes I think that it looks cute as well, but I view it more or less like cosplay and not something one should wear normally.

I can't say with 100% certainty but I think those are really tight breeches.

I like e-girl fashion too. It's just the same poppunk/goth/emo/skater fashion i grew up with makeup reminiscent of raver makeup. I don't like the fake freckles or the ahegao face thing they do, but whatever, I'm old and those trends are for the youth. If they're having fun making silly faces, more power to them. Silly faces were popular in my youth too (duck lips come to mind).
Rave girl fashion is also one of my favorites. There's a lot of creativity and diversity in their outfits.
>mens fashion is like kicking dead whales down the beach
Agreed. Be the change you want to see in the world!

I really like watching girls pick out clothes. Not in a creepy way... Watching them decide how to "pomp" themselves is just too cute. Not even necessarily from a sexual perspective. Like 'what the fuarrrk are you doing putting flowers in your hair you adorable little retard?' is the closest I can get to my fascination with it.
This phenomenon is not shared by males. I find men so often reject vanity in favor of purpose. A keen demonstration is gloves, where men wanting to show off gloves as phenomenal take a picture of their gloved hand. Females take a full face selfie holding their gloved hand next to their face. Tertiary, but still entirely relevant, is my sisters explanation for why females don't blow their heads off as often as males
>How could anyone kill themselves in such a way that destroys 'that thing' for which they've been obsessed with maintaining their entire lives?
Naturally I laughed at her in the moment, so many years ago, but it stuck with me: Females revere their beauty, males revere their purpose. As a generalization of the matter, anyway, as "Peacocking" in males is absolutely a thing. But absolutely different from the way females do.
This e-girl fashion, I concede, in it's stark contrasts of desaturation and pastel florescence, is a manifestation of their digital fixation, the exact same as males', and limited capacity to express themselves sexually. I find it to be extremely in tune with the presiding mentality of "There are no girls on the internet." This exclusion(i.e. tits or gtfo) lead to a very specific method of drawing attention to the same features normalgirls would, exacerbated to the extreme, but not far beyond females' innate desire to withhold themselves. We see her(self perceived) best features bold, highlighted, and italicized, while the features she deems less relevant desaturated and blended into obscurity.
To me, it's not the makeup that's cute. It's the fact that she put it on at all, and the way she must see herself that enables that behavior in the first place. Fascinating, even. Blended "natural" makeup is fuarrrking disgusting though, that's not embellishing, it's just straight up lying, to herself and otherwise. I think my actively admiring outright embellishment, like flowers in hair(outrageous.), is very similar to yours OP.

I can relate. Especially when they're getting ready for something that allows them to exercise more creativity with their outfits. Raves, halloween, themed parties, festivals. It's also really fun to watch all the effort when they're getting ready and then see them out at the event having fun, where you can really see how comfortable and confident they feel in their outfits.
It's not sexual for me either. It just warms my heart.

I'm an egirl fan too but I also think fur coats are extremely hot. To the point where it feels like only women should even be allowed to touch them, they seem to pure and soft for my man hands (i also have a huge femdom fetish). It's the power and luxury of it all. It's been like this for as long as I can remember, at least elementary school. I guess I got some wires crossed in my brain.

As someone who is into the goth/punk scene, the problem with e-girls is that they wear this soykaf like a costume. They don't care about the scene, or wear it outside of their crappy twitch streams. It comes off as fake, and I miss when girls like this were called posers.

yeah I think you're probably right. Still, I think its a snappy outfit; the brits still had something going at least into the 19th century. On the other hand maybe they still do, just only very rarely do they show it.

I saw this exact same post verbatim on another board.
What the fuarrrk is happening? The overall post quality on lainchan is falling dramatically.
This board was full of people who felt completely alienated in society and were fed up with authority, now it's just gonna be another lower traffic imageboard.

Egirl fashion is the ultimate embodiment of the nihilism that has infected society. Young people today simply stand for nothing. What they care about is aesthetics, they put style over substance. They want to look radical and sexy, but without the DIY values and sense of community that came with punk or the edgy glitterboyry of emo. There is no egirl community, no collaboration, nothing. Truly Nietzschean last men, or women in this case. It’s sick.

Hey there's nothing stopping you from becoming an e-girl.
Now put on the thigh highs and eyeliner
